I used to journal, but haven’t in ages - concerned it’ll get too gloomy

I enjoyed journaling when I was younger and trying new things, having new experiences, etc. I have noticed however that a lot of times in my journals as an adult it’s kinda gloomy like about fears, concerns, disappointments, etc and it almost amplified how I felt.

Any advice? I’d love to journal and keep it up beat, but I’m concerned it’ll just turn into rant sessions and me getting down.

Closest thing I’ve done to journaling in recent years is typing out journal entries and I haven’t even done that in a couple years now.

Wedding is Saturday

I’m excited!! Our wedding is Saturday!!

I just have a few last minute things to attend to - finish packing our decor up to take to venue, need to print photos and buy frames for our memorial mantle area, put together goodie bags (need more candy). Oh and finally confirm if we’re getting ready at my mom’s house or mine. And some other things.

I’m trying hard not to get overwhelmed. I’m so excited about us and getting married it’s all the event stuff getting me jittery. I just want it to flow smoothly but I’ll be the bride so not like I can help much the day of.

Andddddddddd
My groom doesn’t feel well. Please send prayers and positive vibes his way. He told me a couple days he felt like he was coming down with something. He’s off the next two days before the wedding so hopefully he can rest and feel better.

I don’t do well with sickness anyway this might be what causes me to have a panic attack.

Also I need a back up music person as our music person is getting over pneumonia.

Praying so hard that everything works itself out and goes smooth-ish on Saturday. Praying more than anything that my groom feels better and all others who are sick or healing from surgery.

Signed,
A bride who is feeling ALL the feelings and recuperating after IUD removal so I’m basically now on a long period.

🥲🙃🤪😭

ADHD struggles and living alone

One thing I struggle with is doing tasks I need to do. When alone I’m so unmotivated. I really thrive on body doubling. Any suggestions?

I am about to get married, but he’s only home a few nights a week due to work. So I basically live alone most of the time. I’m so much more motivated when he’s around and I actually feel shame at what I didn’t get done while he was away.

I want to fix this just don’t know how. Honestly even organizing or starting tasks is hard. So many things I could do. So I don’t do any most the time.

I will say I cover the basics. Dishes, trash out (when he doesn’t take it out), laundry like once a week. But I’ll leave piles of stuff not put away sometimes. Or like I bought a new mop a couple weeks ago and still haven’t mopped the main living areas even though I want to.

Something special for mother of the bride and couple others - need ideas

I want to do something nice for my mom but it’s a bit last minute now. Would a corsage be weird? Someone suggested to me that I give her the bouquet instead of a bouquet toss.

I also kinda want to do something for my grandma. 🤔

The officiant, groom and my dad and step dad all have boutonierres. Maybe I should do a corsage for officiant since she’s a lady? Idk.

I did think of jewelry for my mom.

Happy ending for Beans the kitten

I found a tiny kitten in the road on May 5th. Didn’t see any other cats or people around. Took care of little guy for a few weeks before finding him a permanent home. A very nice lady took him in. She already had multiple kittens. She rescues cats and gets them fixed and they live with her in the house with access to her beautiful yard on the back of a farm. She told me he’s doing amazing. The last two photos are updates from her. She said he plays with all the other kittens and she’s never see a kitten acclimate so fast. 🩵

How long do you keep hobby items before getting rid of them?

For instance, I bought a keyboard piano very intent on learning to play. I learned a few things, life got busy, months have gone by. I still want to learn one day but have no current interest in it and are thinking of selling it.

I also have acquired other hobby related items.

What’s your rule of thumb for keeping or getting rid of?

Percent of people that actually show up after RSVPing?

This is always my issue. I planned a little Halloween party at my house and about 50% showed up. For work we just had a seminar and about 60% who RSVP'ed yes showed up. I'm also planning my own wedding soon and I have had 65 guests RSVP yes and I am just wondering how many will actually show.

Do any of you have a suggestion or formula? I always plan for at least however many RSVPed yes and then some. But it's a bit disheartening when a lot less show up.

Craft hobby for when you’re down?

Crafting is so therapeutic when I do it. I was pour painting for a while, I’ve done a little doodling or coloring, a few diamond art projects.

I’m in a funk right now and really need some color and creativity to help me. Any suggestions? Kinda want to crochet but I’m not good at kinesthetic learning and don’t have anyone to teach me so I kinda have avoided it.

I like baking but I live alone and see it kinda as a waste.

Suggestions or encouragement?

AIO? My bf put our kitten in bed as a prank to scare me.

I’m not really a morning person anyway so let’s start with that. Bf came in the room saying he thought he saw a mouse, which I doubted. I was laying in bed half asleep next thing I know something moved under the covers by my leg. I screamed and threw the covers off.
It was our kitten. He grabbed him real quick and was holding him so he didn’t get hurt or anything by my reaction.

He put him under the covers to scare me as a joke. Then I started hardcore crying saying now the cat is going to be terrified of me. He’s a rescue I just found him last week and he has been doing good so far letting us handle him.

I haven’t been talking to my bf very much since. He offered to go upstairs with me when I went to spend time with the cat and I told him I didn’t want him to come up there.

The cat seems a little irritated now he does play a little, but also hissed at me the first time since I found it. 😔 I’m worried we back tracked a bit with our progress thanks to this “joke”.

It’s way too early for this crap. Normally he just jump scares me it was messed up to bring the kitten into it.

I need a name for the boy kitten I found and rescued

I am currently thinking of Chip or Bean. Other considerations are Chester, Tigger, Tiger or Tyson.

He was found crossing a busy road.

We are pretty sure it’s a boy. I already have a list of girl names. Haha.

I have a male Pomeranian named Tucker.

Gift for cosmetology grad

I need gift ideas for a 20f cosmetology school graduate. I was thinking a tote that references being a hairdresser, a keychain with cute charms, or a blanket that says, “I can’t fix stupid, but I can fix your hair.”

I would love to hear from other cosmetology girls what YOU would like or would’ve liked when you graduated?

Please keep it under $50

Violent nightmare - what could it mean?

TW: violence/domestic abuse

Last night I dreamt I was back home and my mom and step father were together and my stepfather I guess in a drunken rage beat my mother to death (or close to it). I called EMS and they were coming to the house and I was afraid they would let my cat out. I remember feeling really sad because even though my mom and I don't get along the best I was going to miss her. I remember being really upset with my stepdad. What's weird was he was wearing my fiance's watch I saw it on the floor after it fell off and my stepfather was also unconscious after he beat her. I had to bust the door open to get to my mother.

Any idea what this means? Talk about a stressful nightmare!

Found an adorable kitten in the road on my lunch break. (Of course I’m allergic to cats)

On Tuesday I was headed back to work on my lunch break and saw something crawling in the road. Then I realize it’s a kitten! Stopped my car immediately it scurried off towards a work garage and I cornered it and picked it up. I didn’t see a mama cat or other cats around. No humans around either.

Stopped by a vet office and the receptionist tells me he/she is around 6-8 weeks old probably and it has teeth so it can eat soft kitten food.

It’s been a few days now and I think I might keep him. Pretty sure it’s a boy. I have reached out to some rescues and the shelter though. But I keep finding myself worrying what if someone gets him that won’t take good care of him.

I’ve always wanted a tabby cat but I’m mildly allergic so I never had plans to get a cat. (I have a dog already). So far my allergies hasn’t been terrible and I keep wiping the cat with wipes that help with dander.

TL;DR - Woman who is mildly allergic finds an adorable kitten on her lunch break.

I see all these posts with marital questions and concerns and whatnot. The negatives are out there and I think most of us have heard or seen some bad experiences. I want to hear about the good. So, what do you love about being married?

I’m 31f, my fiance is 32m.

Over the years I’ve been praying so hard for a husband and a baby of my own and my boyfriend, now fiancé, showed up in my life. I loved how he encouraged me to read the Bible and he wanted to read it together and he prayed regularly and still does. We haven’t been together very long (4 months) and plan to get married next month. I knew he vaped and had quit smoking now under stress he’s smoked a couple cigarettes. He also didn’t really drink in the beginning (probably just on his best behavior). He even said he didn’t really want to drink anymore.

Now on his nights home from work (he is gone for work 5 days and home 3 nights) he indulges in beer. He drinks like 7 a night, sometimes more. Before we got together he said he used to drink a lot of liquor and now he just drinks beer which isn’t as strong and that’s why it takes so many.

I believe the husband is supposed to be the spiritual leader of the house. I’m feeling concerned. Everyone says the best relationship advice is to keep problems between yourselves and God, but I really want counsel.

I’ve been praying about it sometimes I wish God would give a yes or no answer. I almost think it’s a test. I love him and I do see myself marrying him, but those are big concerns. I’ve worked for attorneys before I’ve seen how some of these same things have played out for others. My parents are divorced and my grandmother is in an abusive relationship with my grandfather. So I have seen how things can go wrong.

I also am more anxious than usual and I think it’s my brain and nervous system trying to get my attention. My fiance is a very kind and generous man. But the drinking has me very concerned. It’s not something I ever wanted in my own home.

He also has recently told me he wants to get a vasectomy after this year because he doesn’t want to be an older dad. That would give us about 6 months of TTC which is not a lot of time. I really would want more flexibility and understanding in that aspect.

Can someone please give some advice based on scripture?? Also prayers are appreciated.🙏🏻
