[OC] Why is there so much hate toward carded Hot Wheels collectors lately?

[OC] Why is there so much hate toward carded Hot Wheels collectors lately?

Lately I’ve been noticing a lot of comments throwing shade at carded collectors, especially whenever scalping or hype gets discussed. I completely understand the frustration with scalpers and inflated prices — they make the hobby harder for everyone. But I’m curious why carded collectors often get grouped into that automatically.

Not everyone who keeps cars carded is collecting for resale or “investment.” Some people genuinely enjoy the card art, nostalgia, packaging design, and the way it preserves the car. On the other hand, loose collectors enjoy displaying, customizing, photographing, or simply handling the cars directly. Both approaches seem equally valid to me.

I’ve personally been collecting for years, mostly carded, but I don’t chase hype or pay absurd reseller prices. I buy what I genuinely like when I happen to find it. So I don’t really understand why “carded collector” sometimes gets treated like a bad thing in the community.

At the end of the day, we all collect Hot Wheels because we enjoy the hobby. Whether someone opens every car or keeps everything sealed, does it really matter?

Curious to hear what others think:

- Do you prefer carded or loose collecting?

- Why do you think this divide exists?

- Has social media/scalping changed the way people view carded collectors?

I'm looking for someone who can show a live demo of 3D printing in Vizag. Also looking for various 3D printers on display. Can someone suggest a good store to visit?

Thanks in advance.
