Huge news for German Godzilla fans

Huge news for German Godzilla fans

The fact that these older movies got added to Prime is amazing. It keeps them from becoming increasingly hard and expensive to watch for German fans. The only problem: no German dub. Thus some of those iconic German voice performances are threatened to become lost media if not properly digitally preserved.

new order online is back!

Some of you may remember this great website from back in the day. It's a fan site but the most comprehensive, detailed and complete collection and archive about all things New Order, Joy Divison and also about the side projects and stuff.

Apparently the owner stopped working on it after the band split in 2006 but it's always been quite an interesting website, despite the heavily outdated design. A short while ago I received some dubious mail along the lines of "account recovery something something". But it wasn't a scam and instead allowed me to continue using my old account on new order online.

Anyway, it's a great website and you guys should check it out right away. The photo galleries are a true gold mine as you can tell by this hilarious photo of Bernard and Johnny

Such sympathische Leute zum Zocken und Labern

Hallo zusammen!

Alles weitere folgt dann. Steam-Freundescode: 89720942

Small review and follow-up post about "The Best & Rest of NewOrder"

Couple of days ago I discussed the remastered double compilation with you guys to get some info about the sound quality and stuff. Relevant post: https://www.reddit.com/r/neworder/comments/1v2h86s/remastering_quality_of_the_best_of_and_rest_of/

So I bought it to find out myself. It's a good package for the money you pay but nothing to write home about. The Dynamic Range, loudness and overall sound quality are acceptable but at least not worse than the respective original releases.

Bitrates are mostly similar when ripped as a lossless FLAC. Dynamic Range is mostly the same as with the original releases. Some songs have a slightly higher DR, some have a slightly lower DR. But on average it evens out.

Overall though it really is the definition of a mixed bag and a somewhat pointless and random release. If you already own the old compilations there is barely a reason to spend money on this. Disc 3 and Disc 4 contain all those rarities and remixes and there is interesting stuff but most of it does nothing for me (pun intended). Some of the remixes are so far removed from the original versions that the songs are nearly unrecognizable. But I don't really enjoy them. A lot of the older contemporary remixes of True Faith, BLT or Round & Round were absolute must listen stuff. This here not so much. So if you're an old fan who already owns a majority of the songs in one form or another this is barely worth a buy. Newer fans will definitely get more out of this. It's a decent release.

Remastering quality of "The Best of and Rest of New Order" ?

So yeah, now that this is available on CD I have been wondering: how's the remaster? Is it another hack job with tons of compression, loudness and low dynamic range like on the "Definitive Boxsets" or the 2023 Substance Re-issue? Or is it actually a good remaster?

I'd like to hear some opinions on this.

The Steam Controller is an absolute blessing for couch usage of your PC

I have obviously used wireless mice before but nothing can top the Steam Controller when it comes to controlling your PC while sitting a couple of meters away on your couch.

Thanks to Steam and all the Controller Layout options and downloadable presets you can easily go from YouTube straight into a game all within seconds just with the Steam Controller. And now I can finally make full and proper use of my Home Theater System for various PC games that have no proper console counterpart.

Okay, thanks for reading my hype and praise post. No, I'm not paid by Valve, these are my real and genuine observations. Yes, I know this is just a scrummy, low-effort picture of me with the Steam Controller in my somewhat ugly living room. Bonus points for anyone who can recognize what I am watching there.

You think their tips and balls touched during this intimate get together?

I mean it would be a realistic scenario

Opinions on the 20 point muzzle brakes?

I feel like they are mostly an expensive waste of points and don't make a difference from the 10 point muzzle brake. The 5 and 10 point versions actually feel and play different, with the 10 point version being a clear update. But I've been testing the 10 and 20 point versions back and forth with no real clear difference.

Anybody else feel similar? Of course the descriptions and sliders in the loadout menu are useless so that's why I have to guesstimate all of this. Are there any metrics to all of this? What's the overall stance of you guys on the 20 points brake?

Who Can Lift More Weight With Their Genitals

I think this might actually be one of the most real episodes. Completely insane if you consider that the actual competition doesn't play much of a role

No wonder Hank switched over to the DEA after the uniforms of the Mobile Infantry looked so shitty on him

Why did Skynet sent the W-1000 Terminator to Albuquerque of all places??

If I recall right everything surrounding John Connor and the Resistance took place in the greater L.A. area so this seems like a pointless diversion. Probably to sell action figures.

Right from the start I noticed the Giant Hogweed plants in the wilderness. I think it's an interesting little detail and maybe this is the first game to have that specific plant in digital form. I instantly recognized them because around where I live they are one of the most dangerous plants by far.

There is something a little "off" about them though. According to this dev they included it just for fun: https://www.reddit.com/r/dyinglight/comments/1nspq4e/comment/ngpfium/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

I fully believe them and it's an answer straight from the horse's mouth. Their placement however seems deliberate and I think their spawning behavior is randomized, aside from some fixed spawns. They are always in weird, creepy areas at the most extremes of the map: either on the tallest mountains or in the very, very corners where no missions ever lead. I'm not sure how well you guys explored the western and northern (the upper and left map corner) map borders but that general area has the biggest concentrations of Giant Hogweed. It just seems off to specifically place these special plants in an area that is basically completely empty of content. It's not only the map borders though. The hogweeds also spawn in many very remote nooks and crannies in the southern mountains.

I don't know, I'm probably completely overthinking some trivial thing and we literally have a dev explaining why these plants are in the game. I'm still saying that their spawn locations and whole thing are weirdly deliberate for the fact that they just supposed to be a funny little thing. It's the only "interactable" plant that doesn't give you a resource but is also not just passive setdressing, instead causing surprisingly much damage to the player. Then the whole placement thing: the devs obviously didn't just press left click on random areas of the map like one would do when placing generic grass or bush models.
Tl;dR: Giant Hogweed is creepy
