Actually ever asked, "Why would you want to bring a child into this world?!?!" when someone told you they were expecting a baby?

I really had to bite my tongue (or tie my fingers since I was texting) to ask that.

I deeply feel that it's to the point of being reckless and narcissistic to want to bring a child into this world.

Granted, I used to think this growing up generally but when "friends" or "colleagues" announce things like these recently, I feel my sentiment to my core.

I obviously didn't want to be a "debbie downer," but JFC!

And I know there would be an argument out there that maybe that child would help change the world for the better. Again, the narcissism, am I right?

Even if it is "just" a house owned by their great/grandparents, that is a huge leg up.

I just thought of this because someone was talking about the lack of work ethic in state workers.

Not only do some of them have union protection so they won't get fired for doing just above the bare minimum but it's like there is no ambition. And maybe it's because they've got a paid for home to live in? So, just cruise.

I'm sure the property taxes are what they are, but I just don't see how most people can survive unless they have that kind of support system.

And I don't have that at all. That is all.

ETA: I obviously meant Generational Wealth. I can't change the title, though. Lol.

I was prescribed the Estradiol patch.

The pharmacy chain I go to has it on backorder. I was prescribed this months ago?

I called Costco - they're out. I even looked at the Amazon Pharmacy. They're out.

I would try Marc Cuban's pharmacy, but it does not accept my insurance.

Anyone else having the same issues?

If this was a medication for men, you know there would be an outrage and BIG-PHARMA would be working overtime to restock it!! 🙄

Truly do not understand everyone's refusal to use their turn signals.

Now, every time I use it, I am telling the city, "Guess what? I know how to drive!"

How many of you have experienced discrimination in the workplace for being childfree? Some examples are:

1. Having to do the work of a coworker who left to pick up children, take children to the doctor's, and other child related appointments.

2. Finding out you are earning less compared to counterparts of equal position and qualifications who have children?

3. Not being able to take vacation time because your request conflicts with another request that involves children (maybe your PTO request was even submitted before the parent's request).

4. Any other ridiculous examples this awesome community can think of.

For those who have experienced any of this, what did you do about?

If you brought it up to management and/or HR, what was their response?

Thank you for sharing and engaging in discussion. This community is comfort to know there are so many of us out there enjoying a childfree life.

I delayed watching this movie, thinking it would not be something I would be interested in.

Oh. . .my. . .God. . .if this movie isn't an agonizing commentary on motherhood and women trying to balance their careers with childrearing and useless partners, I don't know what is.

Side note: there was a clip of Andrea Yates in the movie. I watched part of the documentary that detailed what led up to the killing of her children. At the time, I admittedly had little sympathy for her. But that documentary and I suppose my own maturity allowed me to better understand the painful struggle women in her position went through. And the sad thing is, it didn't *seem* like her husband was a horrible partner. They both just "accepted" their roles and no one ever stopped to question that maybe Andrea was overwhelmed and struggling as a mother because that's supposed to be the penultimate goal/dream of every woman. . .

Anyway, hope everyone is enjoying their version of Mother's day. I am a proud independent cat mom, lol.

Yes, he was staring at me because there was a wall behind me and it was just quite obvious and just cuh-reepy. It was so disturbing, I had to use the person on the opposite of me to block the gaze.

I did look back a couple of times because I was checking to make sure it wasn't my imagination.

I feel like I have to perform a ritual to rid myself of the energy.

This is not meant to disrespect anyone, including me, who is seeing a human therapist, lol.

I was *just* curious to know if anyone has tried those AI therapy apps where you can talk to an AI therapist and have a conversation with it.

If so, how was your experience? And what about concerns about privacy?
