ADF and Gout

I did ADF back in my 20s and got pretty fit.

Now I am 44, quite a bit overweight (205 - 5'11") and have developed Gout.

This legit sucks.

I want Allopurinol but my Doc says I need to end the first flare up and do another blood test in a few months.

This flare was dissipating but I went and walked on it over a mile thinking it was better and it came right back.

I know weight loss will greatly reduce the danger of gout and more.

I'm motivated to do this, but is there any thing I should know before diving in? I heard that weight loss can increase gout because of the added uric acid in fat loss, but I'm of the mind the fastest way out is through.

Also, I take a low dose statin.

Started today, almost bedtime and feel fine... well aside from my swollen foot

Week 4, update and concerns

New Gout sufferer.

So for the pat two weeks my massive flare (was on crutches) finally subsided to basically gone aside from minimal stiffness over the same course of time. Somedays better, some days worse, but trending down.

Yesterday, I finally thought "it's over".

No pain, no swelling, 80% range of motion.

Today, slight stiffer but still no pain.

I tried a bit of flexing and light use. Now it feels pretty dang stiff again and the pain is coming back...

Am I over reacting thinking it's going to flare again? Or is this kind of wave pattern down normal.

Also, I got a bad sunburn Friday, including the tops of my feet... Could that effect it?

We all agree on one thing

Whether you love or hate the OT, Prequels, Sequels, EU, George Lucas, Disney, or the Christmas special, The entire franchise peaked for all of us with the music of John Williams. Specifically for me Duel of the Fates.

Sorry, just had a moment in my car with my stereo...

That song just hits.

Diagnosed two weeks ago, is this normal?

So it seems I had a few flare ups before but they were so minor and lasted a day or less I attributed it to sleeping wrong. But now I've had my first 2 week (so far) flare up where my foot swelled and locked up and the pain was like a gun blast. Then the pain stopped and I just couldnt move it. First time ever needing crutches to get around... It's coming down slowly but surely, the crutches are less a mandate and more of an incase now, but the pain seems to be returning. not throbbing like before, but random little barbs. I can bend my toes again... ish.

Is this normal?

Dismissed without real exam

So I was diagnosed this morning at an urgent care, but the doctor was very quick to look and go "that's gout!" without hesitation and proceed to comment on how it's in the right spot and I'm not getting any younger.

And yeah, it probably is gout, but at least look and examine first before you send me off with meds.

I HAVE been doing new foot exercises with physical therapy and I also have injured the same spot 4 years prior.

I tried to address that as a potential culprit and was just waved off.

I'm 100% getting a second opinion before I pop medication from such a dismissive jerk, but I just needed to vent.

It already hurts like hell and is swollen and bruised, so I went in grumpy to start.

Then she was like this...

Literally didnt even touch my foot or take a history.

Hook Up Build Out Question

I may soon come into ownership of a large vacant lot, grass coverage, no cement.

There is not much to be done with the space and I am considering converting it to a Food Truck Village where trucks can set up either Daily/Weekly/Monthy in a prime location with 6 electrical/water hook ups, and of course picnic tables and maybe some outdoor games.

Seeking advice on what truck owner want/need for such hook ups, I'll have to dig and build out that part, and potential other perks that would be good for them I havent thought of.

I'd love to do a bathroom of course, but that's a huge cost for down the line if this takes off and there is demand for such space.

Taking my kiddo on her first trip to the Lake. I grew up going out with my dad and fishing off the pontoons.

Fast forward 40 years and things change. Moved all over the world and finally am back to my roots this summer with my daughter for a week long trip to the Lake.

Problem is, now a boat runs $800 a day plus fuel and a million restrictions. It isnt 1988 anymore, lol.

Anyone have a good spot, easily accessible with my kid, to just park it and teach her how to fish?

Bonus points for a place I can rent a cheap dingy and get out on the water to fish.

I'm sure this has been asked before but I cant find it.

I built a Japanese deck with images instead of English, and I'm wondering it there is a quick way to randomize showing the back and the front vs rebuilding all 800 cards the other way...

I am on the iOS mobile app
