Restarting ADF - Anyone want to be accountability partners?

F30, 5'4", HW:268, SW:249, CW:230, GW:130

I did ADF from July 5th until August 5th and had incredible results!! I lost nearly 20lbs with ease... but then I indulged for my son's birthday and I've had a hard time getting back on track. I know ADF works for me... I just need the motivation and accountability to get back on track.

We are Disney Passholders and my daughter's birthday is in mid-October... I promised that I would ride Tron at WDW with her on her birthday trip. I tried the test seats outside the queue this past weekend and unfortunately, I didn't fit. My calves were exactly 1 inch too big 😔 I was sad but I should be able to fit by her birthday if I really lock in... and I desperately want to keep my promise to her. I know they have the backseat that is coaster style vs motorcycle style, but I promised I would ride it proper with her just like she asked...

Would anyone like to be accountability partners? Please only if you are serious... don't say yes and give up right away. If I am accountable for cheering you toward your success, I'll treat it seriously, I will have more willpower for us both because I don't want to let you down. I only ask for the same in return...

Check this out my fellow ADFers......

So, I have posted several times since I started the ADF 36/12 plan and increased my walking and weight training. I just got my new results, exactly 3 months since I started this program.

I started this because my Cholesterol and Triglyceride numbers were high.

Cholesterol number went from 238 to 189

Triglyceride number went from 286 to 112 Yes, 174 points lower!

All this in only 3 months.

If this does not motivate you I don't know what will.

Permanent gut issues

Hi everyone. I started adf seriously about a year and a half ago after failing many times. I lost a bunch of weight and then I got discouraged. I’ve stopped fasting for over 3 months now. When I was fasting, I had bad diarrhea after the first meal of the day. This has not stopped. Even when I’m not fasting, I have bad diarrhea after the first meal…and only the first meal. I’ve tried eating at all times of the day. I’ve tried to start slow or start a couple hours before. I’ve tried every type of food for the first meal. It just doesn’t matter. I think I may have messed up my gut. Has anyone had this issue?

True ADF 3 Months Update (+Graph) GOAL !

https://preview.redd.it/i30n9wnrjpjh1.png?width=1524&format=png&auto=webp&s=3226a2dd930c540c85130351746d978898d02bfe

► True ADF (36 hours without food + water only)
3 Weeks Update
2 Months Update

I can't believe another month has passed already!
If you've seen my 2 months graph, you'll notice this one looks a bit different. It's because I started weighing myself every 6 days instead of 2 days, so I also changed that on the graph.

And...FIRST GOAL REACHED !!
After 10 years above 100kg, I'm finally back to 2 digits! I'm SO happy!
I also changed my next goals to be more evenly spaced out, so that it's basically 10kgs at a time.

Now I am very sad this last week I almost didn't lose anything. Maybe it's because we're back on a deadly heatwave (France) which means I can't use my walking pad. It sucks since I was doing better and better, going from 4k to 5k a day compared to 3k in Month 2, and at a higher walking speed too. But the pad generates a lot of heat so I can't use it...It's 32C in my room so yeah...

I know 3.5 kgs/ 7.72 lbs a month is still plenty good!! But ahh, I can't help but feel I want to "catch up" when the heatwave passes haha

Anyway, super happy, if things continue the same it means I'll be around 85kgs (188.7 lbs) by Christmas! "If", as I can't predict how much loss will slow down over time.

Week 14 progress

Male, 32, 5’8”
Starting weight: 265 lbs
Last weigh in: 213 lbs
Current weight: 208 lbs
Goal weight: 180 lbs

I started running this week! I never thought I’d enjoy running but here I am, running for fun for the first time in my 30s. I even signed up for a 5k that’s in 3 weeks 😅 but both times I ran this week was a distance of 3.25 miles and I did both with no stops or walking. I’m actually looking forward to running later today as well!

Last time I weighed this much was in high school.

Starting over is difficult but motivating

I did ADF late April - late May and lost 12 lbs/5.4 kg, which is mind blowing for me as a 44F with PCOS. I wasn't working out that much either and my cycle changed so it was a week later than usual but I was making progress and looked like it. Of course the next few months ended up being super hectic travel and a loss of motivation because I'm looking for a job and the market is demoralizing, at best. I have been swinging between 20:4 and not being able to care because of the intense financial stress so of course, I binged last night and feel like garbage. I didn't gain more than a bit weight in the last few months, but it feels like a lot more.

I think recommitting to ADF will be super helpful for mental health right now (and my bank account lol) so I'm restarting today!!

I cleared out the easyfast app data and went through all the easy food in my kitchen last night. What's left will require some work to make and so I won't find the motivation for that today.

I'm 5'2''/1.55m and 172lbs/78-79 kg so I have about 50 lbs/23 kg to lose. I know I can do it, just posting here so it's out there and I hold myself accountable.

My plan:

36+ hours fast - MW

20ish hour fast - F (If I have no social plans, then I'll extend this to 36+)

Eating - TTHSa, fast starts earlier on Sun

Weekly average of ~15k steps/day

Either a yoga or strength training session every day (I think most days will not be as intense as it sounds because the financial stress of being unemployed is really trying to destroy my will to live)

1st week results

Hello all I posted last week about tips. I started my first fast day last Sunday. So I had 4 fasting days and 3 eating days. I was doing Omad the four weeks before I started adf. I am 42 year old male 6’2.

The daily weights were

Sunday: 239.2
Monday: 237.0
Tuesday: 237.8
Wednesday: 237.2
Thursday: 239.2
Friday: 235.2
Saturday: 238.0
Sunday: 235.0

4.2 lbs is fine with me.

I really hope to continue this for as long as sustainable. It feels like a long term plan that I can maintain. Eating day today!

How do you fast for 36+ hours when you’re home all day?

I’m curious how other stay-at-home moms or people who work from home manage longer fasts, especially 36+ hours.

I find fasting much harder when I’m at home compared to when I’m busy or out of the house. When I’m home, food is always right there, I’m thinking about what I could eat, and it’s easy to start negotiating with myself 😂. I was able to do these fasts a lot easier when I was working full-time outside the house.

I also have two kids under three, so it’s a bit harder to just decide to leave the house and go somewhere whenever a craving hits. A lot of the time I’m home with them, surrounded by food, snacks, and the kitchen all day.

For those of you who regularly do longer fasts while being at home, what strategies actually help you? How do you make it work?

I Fast Different

I built an IOS (Android soon) app for alternate-day fasting. It's 100% free, requires no login, keeps all your data with you, and looks / functions nicely (if I do say so myself, since I use it daily). There's also an Apple Watch version.

Anyway, I'd be grateful if people used it and shared any feedback on improvements, bugs, etc. You can download it from the App Store on your iPhone. It is under the name "I Fast Different".

At what point did you start buying new clothes?

So at what point did you start buying new clothes? I’ve lost 40 lbs, I have 30 - 35 more lbs until I hit my goal weight. Fall in America is coming up, bigger clothes would be comfy, but I feel like it’s starting to get to the point where it’s at least necessary for pants. I just can’t justify spending a bunch of money on clothes I might have to replace in another 6 months. It’s frustrating, if I didn’t have at most a month left I’d buy new shorts, they look ridiculous on me. I just hate pulling the trigger when I’m barely half way there.

I know thrift stores are a thing! But I live in the middle of nowhere! It’s a big trip to get to anything that hasn’t been donated by 80 y.o.s or small children.

Tips before starting ADF?

Hello I think I am ready to start seriously doing this. I’ve been doing Omad for the last 4 weeks or so. I try to stay away from sugar now. Is there anything else I should be doing? I REALLY want to do more of a one meal every other day type fast. Rolling 48s I guess. But I don’t count hours on Omad. Thanks.

Maintaining weight after a 21-day water fast

I’m wondering how people maintain their weight after a 21-day water fast.

I’ve done alternate-day fasting before, and I really enjoy it. I usually lose weight quickly, and I like how clean and skinny I feel while fasting.

Now I’m thinking about challenging myself by doing a 21-day water fast because I think I’m still too fat. My plan would be to slowly reintroduce food afterward and then go back to alternate-day fasting to continue losing weight when classes start.

For those who have done a long water fast, how much weight did you keep off after refeeding? Did you regain most of it, or were you able to maintain your results? Also, do you think returning to alternate-day fasting afterward is a good strategy?

UPDATE :* *

Thank you so much to everyone who took the time to reply and share your experiences. Your comments really helped me think about what I actually want and what would be best for me 😊😊

After reading everything and thinking about it, I’ve decided not to do the 21-day fast. Instead, I’m going to stick with alternate-day fasting and work out regularly while working toward my goal.

I really appreciate everyone’s advice and kindness! ❤️

Sudden change in energy levels..

I’ve been doing ADF for almost 4 months now. I’ve lost a significant amount of weight, but I’m still not quite at my goal weight.

The fasting days were really tough in the beginning, but eventually they became a breeze! I actually had MORE energy on fasting days than I did on eating days.

But since hitting the 3 month mark, something has changed. I’ve started feeling extremely drained, weak, hungry, and even lightheaded on my fasting days. I’m eating more than enough calories on my eating days and taking electrolytes on fasting days, so I’m really surprised by this sudden change.

Has anyone else experienced this after doing ADF for a few months? How did you deal with it? Is this a sign that it might be time to take a break from ADF?

Please share your experienc/advice 🙏

Looking For An Accountability Partner

Hello, I am new here and want to start ASAP. It will be my first attempt, but I have done 3 day fasts before and even a 15 day water fast once.

I want someone to do the journey with me to help me stay accountable, and likewise I want to offer my support as well.

I am a 34F in the US, and since last year I’ve struggled with a neurological disorder and some other chronic stuff that affect my mobility. Due to this, I have not been able to stay active like I used to because I can injure my fragile body (fractured my right ankle three times). I have gained some extra weight as a result and want to lose it. I also am a Christian and would like to fast for spiritual purposes as well.

Hope someone will be a great fit for me. I love God, play chess everyday, paint, read, write, poetry, okay Minecraft, and I take online classes.
