Anyone else plagued by “Diary of a CEO” autoplaying after listening to this podcast on Spotify? There’s no way of hiding it from autoplay without turning off auto play. I’ve even tried reporting it a few times in hopes of de-algorithming myself but to no avail.

Episodes like the wasp one

I’ve started playing random old episodes and came across the one about the wasp on the plane. I play these episodes to help me fall asleep but I ended up skitting in bed in the middle of the night at that one. Can anyone suggest similar episodes?

Weaning

I have booked a family holiday just after my LO turns 6 months and would like to be done pumping by then. He is nearly 4 months old. For anyone who has weaned from exclusively pumping before, how long did it take?

Let down by family

Anyone else feel let down by their own family since their baby was born? I get along well with my family but they aren’t very good at knowing what to do. My baby is the first in the family in 28 years. Nobody has any confidence to even hold the baby. If anyone was to look after him I would have to teach them everything to do and honestly I don’t think it would be worth the effort. That being said, there hasn’t been any offers to help mind him. Gifts of clothes were given which was lovely but nobody thought to give any kind of care package/ food to me and my husband. Nobody asks how we’re coping. Everyone just wants a cute picture of our baby. I’ve always known emotional intelligence is low in my family so I’m not sure what I expected. My in laws are great thankfully but I do wish I had some willing and competent help on my own family’s side.

Zika risk Bali

I have a wedding to attend in Bali next year and I may be trying to conceive around the same time. Does this sound reckless or is the risk really low at the moment?

Baby classes - infection risk

Brought my 3 month old to a class recently. Lots of young babies there, youngest probably 6 weeks. I was very surprised when one of the activities was placing all the babies in a small inflatable ship all at the same time. All touching each other as it was so small. I wouldn’t consider myself germaphobic by any means but I found encouraging such close contact between tiny unvaccinated babies a little reckless. The instructor did say “if you feel comfortable” in fairness but I still found it odd. Am I the problem here

Edit: it’s a class targeted at very young babies. I will be needing to use childcare eventually when my baby is older and will be happy to when he’s has had the time to build some bit of an immune system.

Baby rejecting carrier

My 14 weeks old has gone from being a Velcro baby to rejecting the carrier over the last 3 weeks. I used to wear him getting stuff done around the house. He now won’t go into the carrier. I think he is just too curious now and wants to look around, not at my chest. Has anyone experienced this and did it pass? Or will I have to wait until he has the head control to face out to baby wear again?

Monitor your teats

Bit of a PSA. My baby was absolutely chomping down some bottles, could not slow him down and it inevitably led to regurgitation. I thought to myself is this some kind of fast flow teat so I check it, turned out it was split!! Makes so much sense now. NUK Perfect match bottles.

Mom guilt - overtired baby

I got too enthusiastic about tummy time with my 3 month old today after a doctor told me building it up would help his reflux. I accidentally pushed it past his wake window I got too excited when he started getting the hang of it. This triggered a one hour long freak out and the mom guilt has been huge since. Totally avoidable stress for my love. Lesson learned

Walking with distracted people in your way

Anyone else have issues walking with baby in the pram and getting stuck behind people walking with noise cancelling ear phones and heads stuck in their phones? Really infuriating on narrow paths, there is literally no way to get around them or get their attention in a civilised way.

Most recent one was also swinging long closed umbrella behind him like a weapon as he walked at a snails pace, probably on Reddit or something. Literally no way around with traffic on the road. Totally oblivious in the middle of the path.

Booking flight with baby

What is the procedure for booking a flight with a 6 month old baby with Ryanair? They would be travelling on our laps but do we need to book for 3 people (parents and baby) or 2? And what happens with the buggy

Low centiles

My 3 month old appears to be thriving in terms of his development however all his centiles are low and falling slightly. Exclusively pumping from early on. Takes about 900ml a day on average. I’m starting to worry if there’s something wrong with my milk at this point as he seems to be eating above an average amount but growth isn’t reflecting

Is my baby that bad

My little boy is nearly 12 weeks old. No one on my side of the family has experience in looking after a baby in >20 years so aren’t really able to babysit such a young baby. My mother in law is very involved with her grandchildren and offers to mind him. We recently went on a date night and had to return twice as she was unable to manage him. He does get quite fussy before he settles for the night and can cry very loudly for 20mins before settling. We presume he is just overtired and cuddle him until he settles, usually sleeping for about 6 hours after. We obviously ensure he’s not hungry or dirty.

When we first got back he had just stopped crying and we helped MIL put him down. We waited til he was sound asleep and figured we still had time to make our dinner reservation so headed back out (she encouraged this). We had just left and we got another call so turned around. He was mildly stirring in the bed, soothing himself with his hands and MIL didn’t know whether she should pick him up or not.

We left him alone, he slept for hours later and we ended up eating take out with MIL who ate the meal we’d made her.

It was quite awkward cos he slept so soundly after but we couldn’t head out a third time.

I am her daughter in law and I am thinking is it just a lot harder to mind your daughter in laws baby than your daughter’s baby ? I don’t think his behaviour is very unusual but then again he is my first baby so I have nothing to compare him with. His cry is quite loud so maybe incites more anxiety than another baby’s would.

Anyway, she was the only one we had who could mind him but looks like she’s out too now

Supply dropping 12 weeks pp

I had been doing really well exclusively pumping getting 900ml + a day. Always a few bottles ahead and built a very small freezer stash. The max no of times I ever pumped was 5/day. I have only been pumping 3 times a day for the last 4 weeks and doing well. However my supply has just started dipping. I usually get 300ml/ pump and I have had to do really long pumps to scrape 300ml the last 2 days. Just got 200 on my most recent. Feeling really upset about it and trying power pumping. I dont think I can go back to increasing pumps it just feels like a step backwards and I think it will take away from my quality time with my son. I had been hoping to keep it up until he started taking some solids.

Effect of excercise on output

Nearly 3 months pp and looking to get back into running, want to build back up to 5k three times a week. Will plan to drink more water on these days. Anyone have any experience with this while pumping and if it affected supply?
