From bare dirt to actual grass. Finally committed to proper lawn care
I ripped out the spotty sod in my yard and used seed instead. 28 days later the grass now begins to fill in, seeing the entire board has been immensely satisfying.
I am pondering how to care for it better. The yard isn’t all that large, and the typical pull behind push mowers seem a bit too much. I had heard that mowing the grass a little regularly is better for its health than waiting for a single large cut, so that sent me looking for robot mowers.
I am leaning to the Segway their newer models (i'm seeing i206) claim not scrape the lawn or slip which will hopefully mean less wear on my new grass Sounds good to me. But I would be happy to hear from anyone who has used them, do they really deliver on that?
I benchmarked 6 "Al scholar translators" on the same research PDF - strong prose, weak structure (tables/figures/stats)
I recently tested 6 different Al translation tools using the exact same research paper PDF to see. how well they handle academic content.
Honestly, most of them did surprisingly well with normal paragraphs and technical writing. The translated prose sounded natural and readable.
But once the PDF included complex formatting, things started breaking fast.
Main issues I noticed:
● Tables became messy or misaligned
● Figure labels were sometimes skipped
● Statistical symbols/formulas got changed incorrectly
● Citations and footnotes occasionally disappeared
● Some tools completely ruined the original layout
A few platforms were clearly better for preserving structure, but none felt perfect for serious academic work without manual cleanup afterward.
Curious if anyone here has found an Al translator that actually handles research PDFs well-especially tables, charts, and statistical formatting.
Best way to export Google Maps business data for a startup project?
I’m currently building a small local directory project and needed a fast way to gather public business information from Google Maps.
At first I thought manual research would work, but once the list grew past a few hundred businesses it became extremely time consuming.
Now I’m trying to find a beginner friendly solution that can export business listings, contact details, websites, and ratings into CSV or Excel format.I’ve come across tools like Outscraper, the Outscraper Google Maps Scraper, and the Google Maps scraping tool by Outscraper, which are often mentioned for pulling structured business data from Outscraper in bulk and I’m planning to make use of it.
Has anyone here used this to gather Google Maps business data at scale?

A small AliExpress search trick I’ve been using is typing “ayscooter” in the app. It sometimes shows listings with existing discounts.I still compare sellers carefully and don’t rely on it alone. Coupons are also essential for better savings. It’s not guaranteed, but it has helped a bit.
There’s something so satisfying about seeing all the summer colors lined up. I’ve realized I have a massive bias toward pastels and light suedes once the sun comes out.
For those of you with 20+ pairs in your seasonal rotation: how do you make sure everything actually gets worn? I’m trying a 'one in, one out' rule but it’s failing miserably. What’s the oldest pair in your current summer lineup that you still refuse to get rid of?

alright so i officially win the award for the most embarrassing trip to china. as an aussie who thinks he can handle anything, i planned this ""8 great cuisines"" tour. i ended up failing so hard i became a local celebrity for all the wrong reasons.
fail #1: the goose that broke me
day 1 in guangdong, i went full beast mode on roast goose and bbq pork. i thought ""it's sweet, it won't give me internal heat (shanghuo)."" big mistake. my gums swelled up so fast i looked like a hamster. next day, while trying to chew more goose, i actually started bleeding everywhere in the restaurant.
my mate dragged me to a place called vickong dental near the border. the doctor, who had a thick hk accent, literally leaned against the wall laughing at me. he said in 20 years he’s never seen anyone ""destroyed by a goose"" before. the worst part? the waiting area was open, and the staff told EVERY new patient about the ""goose guy."" an old uncle actually took a photo of me to show his son as a warning lol. since i was already there and the price was a total joke compared to sydney, i just had them pull my annoying wisdom tooth too. the doc told me: ""if u eat more goose, i’ll charge u double next time.""
fail #2: becoming a ""teaching specimen"" in chongqing
after my teeth healed, i flew to chongqing and yelled ""medium spicy!"" at a hotpot place. first bite of tripe and my entire nervous system just quit. next morning, my stomach was doing backflips and i ended up at a proctology hospital.
while the doc was checking my... uh, ""exit point,"" a group of medical interns walked in. the professor literally pointed at my bare ass and shouted: ""look students, a perfect teaching specimen of spicy food damage!"" i buried my face in the pillow while 12 pairs of white sneakers stared at me. then, trying to leave fast, i accidentally rolled off the exam bed and landed face-up, making eye contact with everyone.
that afternoon, the nurse shouted over the loudspeaker: ""foreigner from bed 23 who fell off the bed, ur meds are ready!"" an old man in the hallway actually stopped me to ask: ""are u the ass-up foreigner my son posted in his group chat?""
lesson learned:
china is amazing but its food will humble u in ways u never imagined lol. currently in shanghai eating plain white rice and soup dumplings. much safer for my dignity.
stay chill n watch ur spicy intake!
"I have a Notion research database. it was not getting content from Twitter. tried a Zapier integration. got URLs, no summaries. tried manually copying over the ones that seemed important. did it inconsistently. the database had gaps everywhere Twitter was the source.
invoko fixed it. ""put my saved tweets into my Notion page."" they show up dated and tagged. i've started actually using saved content in my work again because it's in the same place as everything else."
