Camden County commissioner pleads guilty to misdemeanor for removing Flock camera
A Camden County commissioner has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge stemming from taking down a Flock camera on Highway 54.
Todd Isaac Skelton pleaded guilty to Obstructing Government Operations.
He will have to pay a $500 fine and court costs.
Skelton had been charged with Stealing Property Valued at $750 or more, First Degree Tampering with a Utility, and a misdemeanor count of Obstructing Government Operations.
Court documents state that a Missouri State Highway Patrol sergeant saw two men near a plate-reading camera on a pole on December 31, 2024.
The sergeant said Skelton told him that the camera belonged to Flock Safety and that the county’s agreement with Flock had ended.
The sergeant said that on the same day, he looked up the county’s agreement with Flock, the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Camden County Sheriff Tony Helms, and at the time, it was still in effect.
According to court documents, the sergeant talked to Camden County Prosecuting Attorney Richelle Grosvenor, who told Skelton not to take the cameras down.
The cameras were found in the Camden County Commissioners’ Office.
“I will always stand up for our citizens and their constitutionally protected freedoms and liberties,” Skelton said in a press release.
“With this matter behind us, I’m focused on doing the work the people elected me to do.”
