Feedback on how it tastes with classic moka coffe

Hello

At the beginning of my coffee making I enjoeyed dark roast like lavazza / kimbo pre-ground, the classic italian moka coffee let's say, in the aeropress, brewed very strong.

Anyone can give a feedback on how the orb does with those kind of pre-ground coffee?

aeropress with specialty coffee - sharing my exp to possibly favour others

hello

sharing my experience so that maybe someone in the same situation can get out of it faster and enjoy its specialty coffe in the aeropress.

I grew up with mokas and actually never liked coffee. I started very late, with moka. But then when I tried the aeropress (lavazza pre-ground) I brewed very strong coffee and the flavour was fantastic.

so, I was very enjoying dark roasts/med roasts with classic nutty, woody, choco flavour brews in my aeropress. Aeropress at the same time made me like. coffee and started trying specialty.

I got into lighter roasts and could not get from the aeropress what I got from v60 or flat bottom brews.

too long too read: I was enjoying dark roasts in the AP but couldnt reliably enjoy the specialty coffees with more peculiar flavors in it.

recently though I was getting the AP again because it is a much easier process and did not want to fuss about. And I found out how to make it work - for me at least - which was to grind fine.

too long to read: what unlocked it for me is understanding that the AP likes finer grinds.

at the moment I am enjoying specialty coffee in the AP, following about this recipe, which I eye and there is no need to fuss too much about, and what unlocked it was the grind size.

- 30-33 clicks on the kingrinder p2 (around this, im not sure)

- 90-88. celsius water, you can probably go a bit lower as well or higher, up to you

- ratio, about 1:10 (i go a bit above or a bit below, it doesnt matter, but about 1:10)

- for now I put around 12 grams of coffe, meaning I tried, 10, I tried 12, i trieed 13 or a bit above, but eyeing 1:10 circa

- i am just putting the ground in the inverted AP (i dont have any special attachment for the AP) ; I add about 50 grams of water (more or less, it doesnt matter) and stir
- then I add the rest of the water cleaning the stirring thing, bring the AP level so there is no air and wait

- I would wait at least 2 minutes but you can just forget about it and come back later. I think today I left it there for 10/15 minutes, maybe more. It was lukewarm and delicious when I got to it...

- press it gently once you do

(I am using a paper filter which I reuse and a old metal filter together I bought years ago of Idk what brands, although I a sure you can do with one paper filter orr maybe two if you want to filter more)

im not saying that this is equivalent to a v60 or flat bottom dripper, but grinding finer made me enjoy specialty AP brews whereas so far I was not

cheers! ciao

Explain this hobby

Is this about machining the pens or buying machined pens?

And if the first, how does one start? What budget and what skills are required? Thanks

do you think automatic gear will come to the 390?

hi
i saw the system of automatic shifter on the big ktm adventure and that would be useful in some scenarios. beside liking or disliking it, is there any possibility the automatic will come to the 390 in the future?

Dostoevskij was gifted, but able to make normies understand his understandings?

Hello

The other day someone asked about gifted communicators. I believe actually most smart people struggles to make themselves understod, as their understanding is so beyond normies. A) it is easy for gifted people to take for granted things that are completely over the listener but fundamental to their argument, thus making explanationa fail; b) verbal communication is tricky as full understanding of a concept is not guaranteed, not even when "you get it" and not even when one is smart. There may be layer of depth still unrealized and in general "one does not know what he does not know"

However, i am reading Dostoevskij and he seems gifted. He has an understanding/intuition that goes beyond what is commond nowdays (at least based on the people I happenes to meet and talk with)

Still he is very appreciated, thus somebody was able to get his intuition

Either he was gifted at communication as well, or people were on average more capable of thinking in the past (i think this is true anyway, smartphones arent good) and possibly many think they get it and maybe they do but partially and not fully

Anyway, communication is a skill that one could be gifted about separately from the rest.

Although, can the best communicator make anybody understand anything they want to express? Isnt here in play the "problem of other minds"?

noobie questions

hello. the 390 adv x seems pretty nice. no experience with motor bikes though.

still.

I am reading about the low torque on low rev topic. that doesnt make sense to me since this is geared to do offroads but it's a topic. and also, it seems to be quite annoying in the traffic as well.

Could you please explain to me how it is possible to mitigate it? What solutions, how would it cost more or less and how the solution works?
Living in europe. if it is something that can be done although virtually no legal for knowledge purposes I would like to understand that as well.

moreover, is the quickshifter an optional? do you think it would be worth it?
what accesories would you add to the bike?

and for a newbie, do you think it is doable to get on the bike just bought and drive it home very slowly directly?

First order from YS - confused on how to store

Hello

Got two 2026 sho puer cakes from YS, i thought to store them and age them a bit (tho the smell is very pleasant not fishy) in the humidor i have for sho.

I then saw that the cakes came in with a "natural deessiccant bag" which confuses me as per YS is trying to keep it dry.

What to do?

Bonus question: i got a sample of 2025 sheng, is to ve drank or should it age?

does it matter to change filter with light roasts?

I must confess since I got into specialty and light roasts I also moved mostly to plain filter coffe.

I did not stop completely aeropressing, I was just doing more concentrated (also a bit soupy as it is said today)

however longer rati recipe with lighter coffees I cant find the balance on the aeropess (if not by chance every now and then)

do you think changing the filter matters with light roast taste?

when I was doing dark roasts I was almost never changing it and it was fine

ableton move wishlist

got the move. what a fun piece of gear!
cant quite figure out some stuff yet but that's okay.

why not to make it a proper groovebox for performances though?
Meaning, arranging a track in song mode and then in performance mode let's say using the knobs as macro (assigning knobs however you please)

that would be a fantastic addition to this machine.

how does getting illustrators' art work?

ehi!
I wonder how does it work if one needs an illustrator. Is it fair to ask for a single drawing as a proof of concept, not of the whole game clearly but just to assess different style and pick the illustrator one prefers, for free?

yes? or how does it work?

and how much would it be for a full project? Also, once it is paid, who owns the rights on the drawings? should one use a contract to say that the buyer can use that art for free?

sonicake pocket master as audio interface?

hello, I have an Ipad (lighting) and the lighting thing holds me back from using it more for music. maybe it's worth it to grab something newer

however, I want to understand if the sonic cake pocket master would work as an audio interface into the ipad? and if yes, what would I need for it to work? with lighting?

and would it work with a newer usb-c ipad?

moreover, if I want to use a ableton move or any other controller really to control apps on the ipad, how can i connect it?

light roast bags open after a month enough to lose all particular notes?

hi
I decided to try roasters from above, lighter roasting and famous

i got coffees from dak. minty chess was the only more recently roasted, I opened it 3 weeks after roasting and indeed it has very peculiar notes

however, both honeyburst and the alchemist, which I opened approximately i end of 4th week after roasting if not the fifth already and while they are very pleasent, the distinctive note is absent. yes it is good coffee, but the tropical fruit was completely absent from the alchemist, only the cocoa nib was present and from honeyburst there was (not anymore) a svery slight hint at. what they may have referred to as citrus black tea, but again very vague. nothing else

and I highly doubt it is my brewing as for minty chess the flavour note was there and generally i can brew v good.

now, I do not think it is the transport, as all coffee arrived in the same shipment.

in your experience, does one week too late really make this specialty coffee loose all their specialty to the point their particular notes are not there anymore?

in the aftermath, I did not think it would make so much of a difference and I did not add to the roasting date a week for shipment, that's on me, but stll, did you ever experience the same?

edit, bonus question: I got some light coffee from onyx, would you open it after how many weeks?

B75 vs B75 travel, difference in recipe size?

Hi, can’t find online any difference between the timemore b75 and its travel version which seems to be smaller. I see people tend to do 15gr of coffee to 250gr of water in b75 which is a bit above 1:16

Do you know if the travel version would be better for smaller doses while still capable of bigger ones?

Would you recommend it?
