Promotional poster artwork from the Japanese project “Shinkuukan Dolls.” (2010s)I love the fictional Akihabara atmosphere and all the science-themed signs throughout the city.
Upon doing some research, I found that this dress and headdress are from the official MDD Etheldreda — released as part of a 2008 collaboration between Volks and the visual novel Zanma Taisei Demonbane (斬魔大聖デモンベイン). It was sold exclusively at the Volks event in Osaka.
This was just one year after Mini Dollfie Dream (MDD) was first introduced in 2007 as a smaller sister line to Dollfie Dream. It really has that nostalgic old-school history vibe! ✨
Here are a few garage kits that caught my interest at Wonder Festival Japan 2024.
Bought this all-over print hoodie at a booth in Comiket (Comic Market) back in summer 2012. It’s from the anime Another.
The print is super detailed — features Mei Misaki with the red eye, lots of crows, school scenery, and that signature dark horror atmosphere. Even after 14 years, the print quality and fabric have held up surprisingly well.
The oversized hood with the matching print is a nice touch too.
This is a workshop display piece of a garage kit sculpted and painted by Torisaka-san from the circle Patelunch (パテランチ).
Torisaka-san was a highly respected garage kit sculptor active around the early 2000s. This piece was personally painted by him for his workshop display.
In the background you can also see other legendary pieces including:
• King Gainer
• Baikanfu
• Getter 1
• Space Battleship Yamato
• Ultraman Ace and more.
This is a completed Sailor Mercury garage kit sculpted and painted by Torisaka-san from the circle Patelunch (パテランチ).
He was a very well-known and respected sculptor active around the early 2000s. This particular piece was painted by Torisaka-san himself as a workshop/display piece.
I’m incredibly lucky to have received it. The sculpt is beautiful and the paintwork has that classic Torisaka touch.
While everyone talks about retro eroge box art these days, I’ve been fascinated by the insane character illustrations on Japanese pachislot machines.
This one is Sanada Junyushi (ニューギン/EXCITE) — a completely original series featuring the Sanada Ten Braves as beautiful ninja girls. The poster and cabinet art have this great 2010s anime aesthetic that’s both cute and badass.
Does anyone else collect pachislot panels or posters as wall art? Or know other hidden gems in this category?
