What was the first book in your collection and why did you buy it/how did you have it?

Hello! A newbie here who intends to get into making reading a hobby very soon. With this, I'm curious ano yung pinakauna niyong libro when you started and the story behind it? How did it get you to read more books? How were you able to recognize your genre preferences throughout your journey? Did you eventually get the collector's edition or hardcover version (if any, or clothbound if meron din) of your first book? Sorry maraming tanong haha. I'm excited to hear your stories hehe :)))

Edit: This is just a follow-up but as someone who'll buy her first book, would I be judged na bibili ako depende sa kung gaano ako kahooked sa book cover design/material rather than the premise itself? Sana hindi ako ibash haha I really intend to genuinely read them otherwise naman kaysa maging display lang. I find myself eyeing a hard cover as my first book sana.

to overemployed peeps here, paano niyo "naitatago" na may second job kayo?

ni minsan ba, nahuli kayo? how do you cover it up, or is it (the second job) by any chance a part-time kaya technically allowed?

planning to be overemployed as well yet these are my main concerns haha. how do you answer in interviews, handle being caught in background checks, etc.

A beginner reader here. Any book recos?

I'm open to anything, actually! I'm just looking specifically for something that tackles feeling lost, missing out, coming-of-age, trauma, sort of like a life crisis and walks the readers through it. Something that holds a valuable meaning throughout the journey, something existential and profound. I might have worded this out poorly but I hope ykwim.

Just needing something with that theme because I've been in a state of unexplainable chronic sadness these past few months, so I figured making reading books a new hobby might help me find myself again.

Still, any recos would do! I'm open to any genre as long as it is recommendable to a beginner reader like me, kahit hindi siya yung minention kong specific search ko haha. Thanks a lot!

Edit: I find myself hooked lately with any Japanese novels' premise so if may recos din kayo for that, feel free to share! Thanks so much

Why are books from Fully Booked far more expensive compared to other stores selling the same book? (newbie here)

disclaimer: I'm new to reading and buying books so this question might sound dumb

why are books from FB far more expensive compared to other stores selling the same book? I'm planning to order from Shopee, so I'd like to ask what's the difference between those in FB and those in the other stores (example: Project Hail Mary is 500+ in Fully Booked store but sa ibang stores, it's 170; same with the japanese novels)? Is it because possibly secondhand yung mga nagbebenta ng mas mura or what? Hindi naman po sa nagrereklamo or walang pambili, would just like to know why or what makes FB more special (although I know it's a popular bookstore) 😅 also need your advice kung saan ako dapat bumili haha. thank you!

would appreciate any kind response, super naive pa kasi ako about book buying :)) maraming salamat po

may inapplyan akong insurance company in which shortlisted daw ako in, was told na I have a qualification interview raw by july. in their email, aside sa ID, pinagdadala rin ako ng notebook at pen. my question is, hindi ba dapat qualification interview lang? weirded out lang ako kasi aside dun sa notebook and pen na pinapadala, iba pa wording nila sa pinakaunang email, "business opportunity presentation" daw, tas sobrang generic and vague ng sagot nila sakin sa call when I asked about it.

tas nitong recent email nila, "orientation" na bigla term na ginamit haha. I find their constant explanation of this matter (maski sa calls) too defensive and inconsistent, kaya malakas talaga pangamba ko.

are they trying to bring me to the usual insurance culture na nagbebenta? malakas kutob ko na scam to due to their inconsistencies with the way they communicate (too much red flags if you ask me) pero would like to know your thoughts as well kasi baka masyado lang akong nagjujudge ty

Eyeing to buy a house and pansin ko puro modern architecture ang nasa market. Di naman sa pangit, actually maganda, but is there a reason behind bakit eto yung naging leading architectural style sa bansa? Para kasing iisang hulmahan lang
