Looking for some advice on filling in the letters of an enormous piece

Hi everyone!

I'd love to get some advice on a requested art piece I'll be making for Indian Spirit Festival. It's going to be on mdf, 220cm wide and 128cm tall (18mm thick). On the attached picture the lettering is shown.
I already spent way too much money on printing out the outlines on a huge piece of paper, and I already have in mind the decorations around them.

All the individual letters will be approximately 50cm tall. I have created a lot of different artworks over the years, but I've never completely filled up shapes that aren't 'standard' shapes. I was wondering if anyone sees this and immediately thinks of a few do's and/or don'ts.

I will use neon thread for the letters, as it fits the music of the festival very well (psy-trance). Now I find myself overthinking it a bit, that's why I decided to reach out!

The ideas that have crossed my mind so far are:

  1. Place nails only on the outlines of the letters, somewhere between 0,5 and 1cm apart. And then start at a random nail, keep zigzagging within each letter until I'm satisfied with the look. The overthinker in me goes: But with letters so organically shaped, won't that be a bit too chaotic, and take away from the overall look?

  2. Place nails on the outlines, but also a second, smaller outline a few cm inwards (same amount of nails). That way I can make a less chaotic outer rim on each letter, which might emphasize it, make it pop out more. Then decide whether I want to keep the inner 'circle' of each letter threadless (solid black background with 2 layers of varnish on top of it) or fill that in with a different colour, zigzag style.

  3. I also thought of filling in each letter with triangles with extra nails, a bit mosaic like. That way I can fill each triangle with thread in a less chaotic way, and so filling the entire letter with geometric shapes instead of a network of lines.

I'm open for any kind of advice or experiences with filling them in, or let me know what the up- or downsides are for my ideas.

I'm desperately looking for advice on how to deal with sleep procrastination

Hi all!

I, 37M, am working quite long days of physical labour. Monday - Friday I leave the house around 6am, and usually I'm back around 6pm.

After work I like to spend time on my passions, music and art. After the night has fallen my creativity is peaking, and my head finally calms down on the racing thoughts, and being in this state is so addictive that despite my intentions (the intentions past-me assured would turn into actions) I just keep postponing my bedtime.

I think it's because I'm aware of the clear mind I have, and I know that as soon as I go to bed I will have to wait until the next day after work before I will experience it again.

Every time I feel like I got a little bit more grip on my structure, there will be a night where I (sub)consciously forget about the time, see the hours go by but it will feel impossible hit the bed.

When I snap out of it, it's 4am, and I'll be too afraid to sleep at least a little bit, irrational fear of sleeping through my 17 alarms.

Does anyone here experience the same feeling, and could you please share some advice that worked for you?

I live in this appartment for just as long, and yesterday I mopped the floor for the first time!

It has been on multiple to-do lists over the past year, even on my whiteboard next to my front door. Several alarms have rang, with the title 'MOP' (or actually 'DWEILEN') which is the Dutch way of saying it.

To be clear, I do vaccuum regularly, but mopping just feels like something I'd like to avoid for the rest of my life.

The mopping took around 15 minutes (I live in a small appartment) and was maybe 8% as bad as I made it in my head.

I will not learn from this, see you in 6 - 26 months mop!
