How does the game look so good?

Every time I see a clip from ETS or ATS the game looks much better than what I have even on ultra settings. Is it the newer expansions? I have Going East but that one is quite old still. In the base game, I see some updated cities look better but I haven't seen the level of detail I see in some of the clips.

ID? Came from between the floor board with a bunch of friends. Apartment building had previously problems with pharaoh ants. Pest control did a fumigation and traps and seemingly got them...Are they back?

Metal water bottle with removable straw and easy cleaning?

I am looking for a bottle like the title. I should be able to drink from it with or without the straw, should be metal. No nooks and crannies that can't be cleaned and will get moldy. Does anything like this exist?

Ak zakričím naspäť, akurát mu to bude asi jedno a akurát pridám k tomu hluku. Volať políciu?

Edit: ak to nebolo jasné každé ráno je to ten istý človek.

I hate when people trivialite humanity's technological advancements.

I marvel at planes every time I'm in one, I marvel looking at it, I marvel looking out of the window. I marvel at the fact how the nearest smartest animal is banging rocks together and we built this enormous pressurized machine flying miles high through the air with just regular people in it for the price of a train ticket. I hate that whenever I say this out loud to someone they often are like "duh, we are in the 21st century" or like "have you never flown before?" Like clearly these people don't realize how insane that is in the grand scheme of things. Hundredss of thousands of years of humans and only for the past like 80 we have been able to do this. This applies also to other technology as well.

Exit: typo in title. Obviously it's supposed to be trivialize

What is dragon skin like really? Biology rant...

This discussion is based on official art on different editions of the book

The dragons seem feathered on the classic covers. In modern illustrated versions of the books they seem to have a more reptile skin with growths similar to real life bearded dragons. However, the book itself seems to describe their scales as fish-like, with skin underneath, as opposed to reptile scales which are a part of their skin and cannot be lost. Since saphira loses them in the novels, they have to be more fish-like or feather-like.

We can probably assume that the feathers and the fish-like scales are supposed to be one and the same and seem to be the official way the scales are supposed to be since that is how they are described in the text.

If dragons are reptiles, birds are their closest relatives, meaning that they most likely don't have fish-like scales and what we are seeing in the novel are more feather-like scales. It is some form of reptile scaled skin with bearded dragon-like growths and some form of hardened protofeathers on top that match the colour and texture of her skin and can be interpreted as scales...maybe? I wouldn't go as far as to just give her protofeathers with bird skin as she clearly has regular reptile skin on some parts of the body from the official art and I don't even want to imagine saphira looking like a raw turkey without her scales.

Sadly I cannot just allow her to have regular reptile scales as those cannot be shed without damage to the skin.

How do you interpret Dragon skin in Eragon? Does this make the feathered saphira from the movie Canon? (Don't murder me for asking that, it's a joke) Is saphira a fish? Has Christopher made an official statement to this? Or has this been explored somewhere?

Anyone test them in the sea?

My friend wears his Garmin, rated until 100meters or 10ATM into the water all the time, sea, poorly showers. I feel anxious even showering with my pixel watch even though it's rated for 50m or 5 ATM. I wanna record my sea swimming as activity. Anyone test them in the sea? On the contrary, has anyone damaged them this way?

Possible trope exploration, large dragons as walking camps.

I jumped back into the Inheritance cycle recently and as I read about the dragon life cycle and how dragons basically grow forever, I was thinking about the practicality of riding dragons like Shruikan or Belgabad.

This led me to the exploration of the idea that during war time, a kind of camp could be built on the body of such a large dragon. A combination of smaller platforms and balconies connected by ladders and rope. Some on top, some strapped around the sides of the dragons stomach, even up it's neck. This could be used to transport riders whose dragons have died or even a whole small unit if the war included regular troops. These dragons would obviously have to be in the 100s or 1000s of years old and 1000s of tonnes in weight where having a few tonnes of people and camp on their back wouldn't make a difference.

A smaller version of this might even be a preferred way of transportation for the riders themselves once their dragons are large enough. Ideal for long travel. If a saddle is a car this would be a caravan.

Obviously, in Alageasia, in it's current state, no dragon is big enough to do this, but I would love to see this explored maybe in a prequel or as a story within one of the future books. My heart would be full if I saw an artist's rendition of this.

What do you think of such an idea? Do you think it fits the world of Eragon or would you say that dragons would not allow such a thing? If you have ideas of your own, feel free to expand on this. Thinking about large dragons brings such fun ideas, like the idea that dragons above a certain size would have to be "boarded" like a plane using stairs on wheels or something.

Would love to hear any thoughts.

How do we feel about Saphira in the movie?

I know the movie is in general very bad. I like the design for the most part and if this movie did one thing well it was the Saphira VFX. Although I wish she was bluer. She doesn't really have her personality nor a real relationship with eragon outside of the bad attempts at making her seem "wise" which just don't hit right.

Is streaming viable for a person with a 9 to 5?

I don't work 9 to 5 but 8 to 4. I have a non gamer girlfriend and a bunch of non gamer hobbies and non gamer friends. It kind of feels incompatible if I'm going to take it somewhat seriously even though streaming is something I've done in the past and I enjoy it very much. Fitting streaming around everything going on in my adult life that is mostly disconnected from gaming just does not seem possible. Anyone in a similar situation managing to do it?

I have nothing phone 2 and finally got OS 4.1 and I did not however get all the cool new lock screen customisation features other than the new clock face. What's up with that? Are we not getting that on older phones? Or am I now in the same boat as phone 1 users were last year when they got certain features in later updates than others? Anyone elses experience with phone 2?
