The project will cost around $2.35 million and was approved by state lawmakers during the last session under the Office of Management and Budget bill. The money includes $1.6 million for a perimeter fence and landscaping and $750,000 for a new driveway and gate.

This quote by Carl Gustav Jung is what strikes me to the core the most painfully.

“Loneliness does not come from having no people about one, but from being unable to communicate the things that seem important to oneself, or from holding certain views which others find inadmissible.”

How does it resonate with you?

Designed a vintage travel poster for what will likely be our family's final all-family reunion

This illustration traces our family’s journey from the mountains and fjords of Norway to the prairies of North Dakota, with a quiet homage to an Auntie's Japanese heritage.

This will likely be our final Tengesdal All-Family Reunion (and final branding design) -- only one of the original aunt and uncle generation is still with us -- so I wanted the design to carry the important icons from our family history: the two churches that anchored the family on each side of the Atlantic, the ancestral homestead, and the landscapes that shaped who we are. Over 160 family members attended the reunion this year.

The design was the visual identity and branding for the reunion, used across t-shirts, mugs, stickers, and other merchandise.

Amber Alert from a Washington area code?

How many of you got the Edgewood Amber Alert last night from area code 206, instead of from the BisMan Emergency Broadcast number? I got one back in February as well. A friend at work, her husband got the same number, yet she didn't get any alert. This can't be normal or good, right?

Gay Christian Loneliness

"Loneliness does not come from having no people about one, but from being unable to communicate the things that seem important to oneself, or from holding certain views which others find inadmissible." — Carl Jung

How many of you also feel this deep in your soul? I feel it often for being too religious for the gay community, and too gay for the religious community. Plus add in the old adage of leaving religion, politics and financial matters out of polite conversations.

I've been in this journey for decades, and at age 60, it seems to get more and more difficult to find any someone who can relate and hold a deep conversation. It doesn't help being an introvert with strong social anxiety who avoids going to church or seeking out any Bible study or the like. This city leans very conservatively, but there are welcoming churches here.

Thanks for bearing with me as I vent, the old man shaking his fist at the clouds.

Graphic Designers don't die, they just . . .

Just turned 60, and as I enter my probable final decade in the field after 30+ years, I just wanted to hear some humor on how you who are long-term graphic designers would finish that ditty?

Graphic designers don't die, they just pop.

That's my attempt, what's yours?

FIRST LISTEN: Ty Herndon, Michael Passons and All Star LGBTQ Chorus Reimagine the Classic Hit ‘Testify to Love’

For Michael Passons, who famously shared his story of being ousted from Avalon due to his LGBTQ identity, this recording is more than just a cover; it is a restoration.”For years, I sang these words while hiding who I truly was,” said Passons.

Finally 60!

Lonely 60th birthday in February, and an Intracept lumbar procedure in March for 40 years of chronic back pain. Both events have verified how abandoned and unchosen I am. Took me this long to dare put this post out in the world. But, I am still smiling.

This looks rather interesting. I am in no way affiliated with the auction, just thought there might be some North Dakotans interested. It's the complete liquidation of North America's largest Scandinavian festival.
