6 months smoke free this week.. depression

Hi all! Did any of you gain a feeling of depression after quitting? I’m at the 6 month mark and I still feel off mentally. Some days are joyful and I feel great! But overall.. I feel like if depressed. Anyone else depressed months after?

Have any of you gone on medications after quitting for anxiety/ depression? What was your experience, if so?

I’m trying to overcome this hump without medications but will consider it if things don’t improve over a couple of months.

TIA for feedback

I’ve became intolerant and avoidant towards my brother who’s emotionally abused me over my lifetime- is this justifiable and valid?

Hi all. I am seeking some kind of potential validation, reassurance and confirmation whether or not my reaction and dismay towards my brother is normal as he suggests it isn’t and that I should “move on from the past” and “stop holding onto the past” which are narcissistic responses if you ask me..

He’s emotionally abused me all my life. He’s bipolar and has caused my family immense turmoil throughout our life. I’m 30 and he’s now 32. All our life, we fight then we eventually forgive and it’s a cycle. About a year ago, I noticed my dismay growing towards him and becoming intolerant. The cycle of make up and push away continued up until 5 months ago I quit smoking and NOW I can’t stand him that much more. I try to warm up to him, but there are so many issues on his end that eventually pushes me away. Which only doubles down on my dismay that much more.

So for a while now, I’ve avoided him and am intolerant to him— I cannot allow him to trigger me I’m trying to protect my peace these days. I love him deep down, but these days I can’t stand him anymore.

He gaslights me by saying “you’re holding onto the past, this isn’t normal, your reaction is insane, we should be getting along” etc and it makes me question myself even though deep down.. I know my dismay is valid due to bitterness and resentment growing and brewing over the years.

What is all of your opinions? Is my current intolerance justified? TIA for answers cause he makes me feel crazy with his gaslighting

What mental illness is it when someone can’t learn from their mistakes?

One example.. I’ve asked someone within 48 hours 3 times not to give me unsolicited advice regarding weight and emphasized how much it irritates me. Today, after the 3rd time I snapped. He said “im overreacting, hes just trying to help me and doesn’t remember me asking him not to give me unsolicited advice” I can’t grasp or process whether its legitimate that he actually doesn’t remember or if hes full of shit. For reference, he has bipolar diagnosis and is a sibling. I’ve been dealing with shit like this ALL my life.
I’m getting significantly tired of it. He also has Asperger’s but I know many people with autism who have more common courtesy than him. He uses this to excuse him of his issues but I find it to be no excuse. This is basic decency.. I’ve seen full blown autistic individuals have more respect than him

Weight + health management

How much weight did yall gain after quitting? What did you do to shed the weight and boost up your metabolism? I’m currently exercising more with cardio mainly, my diet has improved, significantly less calories than usual. And still.. the scale isn’t really moving!

It just feels pretty discouraging. Curious how everyone managed to combat these issues TIA for answers

What’s a good routine for a beginner?! Glute focused

Hi all! I’m VERY new to the fitness community as far as discipline, commitment, consistency and routine goes.

I recently quit smoking and have gained 15 pounds since and for some reason.. though I’ve upped my cardio.. I’m not losing these pounds which is so strange! I’m trying to max my muscle growth to help with metabolism and what not.

I just got the booty sprout equipment piece which is basically a hip thrust tool and I’ve done 3x10/12 sets the past two days. But I’m wondering.. what’s a good system to maximize glute growth? It’s a great setup and has the perfect height for me to also do Bulgarians too. I was once told Bulgarians.. RDL’s.. hip thrusts and abductors are a perfect set up and I think do 3x12 of each of these in a day is what I was told? And the person also said only 2 times a week is necessary for me being a beginner— What do yall think?

Cardio wise I got a trampoline so I’ll be also rebounding for 5-10 minutes a day which will help activate full body muscles.

For reference, I’m a 5’3 145 pound (used to be 130 before quitting smoking 🫠) female. TIA yall for answers!

How long do crash outs and irritability last post quitting nicotine?

Hi all! I just got off the nicotine patches 3 weeks ago after vaping and smoking intensely for 15+ years. So I’ve been almost 3 months smoke free, but 3 weeks nicotine + patch free.

I used to be cool, calm and collected and have REAL good composure and control when it comes to interpersonal issues or disputes etc.

Now, I’m crashing out and my tolerance is as thin as a string. I’m irritable over small things, I’m literally bursting randomly and suddenly out of nowhere (seems more intense when I’m tired) and feeling very explosive. This is unlike my character. I have a family member who is gaslighting me by saying “withdrawals don’t last that long” so I’d like to educate him with some of your responses on whether in fact they DO last this long as far as irritability and mood swings goes. The intensity of them started after getting off the patches for reference.

Anyways I’m rambling and venting out loud I guess just wanting to know if others experienced the same intensity of “crashing out” as me. TIA for answers ❤️

Mental health struggle

I just hit 2 months, 2 days of 7mg patch left, and I’m just feeling so depressed still. And what makes matters worse is feeling like I shouldn’t still be depressed at this point! I feel I should’ve been overcame this anhedonia by now and so knowing I haven’t, makes me more depressed 😂 yall this shit sucks the mental health aspect of quitting. It’s so hard. I used to be so active and now I can barely get out of bed, and I know that makes matters worse.. but I hate the idea of having to “force” myself to be active. I just miss feeling like “myself” cause I’m still not myself. I’m cranky, irritable, mean and I feel just overall awkward. Some days are good but they are few. Smh. Just venting I guess

Severe headaches, head sensation, off vision, lightheaded etc. tapering off patches

Hi all! I just stepped down to 14 mg patches a little over a week ago and am leveling down to 7 mg in a couple of days. I’m having pretty intense headache issues and just overall weird head sensations since quitting vaping in general. Originally, I thought it was because I was on 21 mg and figured maybe it was too much nicotine. But now since I leveled down, it’s continuing in intensity. I’m 50 days smoke free now- is it normal to still feel these head sensations? Is it because of the patches?

Google says after stopping smoking these issues should go away within a few weeks but I’m past that at this point so should I be concerned? Or could it be that Google isn’t taking me tapering off nicotine into consideration and this is probably the reason my withdrawal symptoms are lingering? TIA for answers!
