Person who is right for you

Me and someone else on this thread had a conversation last night and I think it’s SO important.

In a room of 100 people you could date in theory

You would only want to date about half of them. So you would be down to 50.

Out of those 50 say only half are also into you and we are down to 25 people who could be a perfect match for you.

People break up all the time and don’t work out for so many reasons and HSV is not the only reason you aren’t finding someone.

It’s so easy to pin it all on that but in reality it isn’t the case.

I went on a LOVELY date and it went SO well but there just won’t be a second. But he didn’t even know about me having HSV. Sometimes things just don’t work out and having this isn’t the only reason things don’t work out and I feel like it’s important to recognize that!

Confused But Mainly Ranting

So I found out through swab testing that I am HSV2 positive.

I have only ever had sex with two people and they are both tested negative…

Here’s what I think happened,

Partner 1- DEFINITELY does not have it

Partner 2- Was having sex with another person the same week him and I were (I didn’t know this at the time). They also ripped me open down there cause they got a huge one…

I started having THE pain after having sex with partner 2 and went in and yay I was diagnosed.

Swab Positive

Blood Test Negative

I think Partner 2 just had a negative blood test as well because it was new in their body as well.

Partner 2 and I are actually rekindling and I recommend they go get retested, since I truly think it was new to both of us and I think they are just asymptomatic. I am as well maybe just to see if I can strike on a blood test- I know blood tests can be inaccurate though so idkkk.

Bumps

It’s sometimes so hard to tell if my body is starting a flareup because I feel like I’ve always had a lot of little bumps down there and I just over analyze some of them.

I don’t know I have a genetic disorder that causes tumors to grow sporadically- but right now I have some bumps that feel a little bit itchy, and I don’t know what to think :(

It’s so hard to know if it is a flareup or not and what precautions I need to be taking…

Transmission, discussion, female, two male

Thoughts?!

So you guys know the lingerie for women that covers the skin and just has an opening for access… just curious do we think that these would lower the risk of transmission? 🤔

In theory, I feel like it could help? Because then there’s less skin contact? I don’t know just a thought and was wondering what other people thought

Wisconsin Support

I know this is a global community, but I’m really just wondering if there’s anybody near or in Wisconsin that would like to be able to just talk to each other other!

Herpetic Whitlow

As we all know, the medical system sucks. A few years ago I was working a wrestling tournament. Then the next day, my hands started blistering for no reason and burning really bad.

So I had gone to urgent care- they did not swab or do any testing for it just gave me a cream and went on my way. However, the cream did not work so I stopped using it and I just went about my day until it passed.

Flash forward three years later… I was just diagnosed with HSV2. There’s no other way I would have been able to get this unless I’ve had it for 6+ years.

So what I’m assuming is I must’ve passed it from my hand to genitaly because I didn’t know what it was :(

It’s just so odd how this virus can work…

Kitten I Found

Kind of Ironic

I have been praying to find a cat the distribution system would finally pick me. Anyways, I found out four months ago that I have HSV. And like all of us it’s been a hard four months.

My main depression with it is reading from something else, but I’ve been super depressed and I was talking to my friend who I was in the car with about how I had been thinking about things (….) I thought I would, but I was thinking about it.

In that moment- not even one minute later, we find a little kitten on the side of the road. He took the kitten in just so I can get some help and get checked on so we know it’s okay and my kitten also has a form of hsv so just kinda wanted to share my odd story. But that little baby is meant for me.

To the newly diagnosed

To the Newly Diagnosed

I know it’s really really hard to hear. And it’s something that none of us wish we ever had to have heard. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do to change this.

With that being said, I know some of the doctors will tell you “ I hope you don’t lose sleep over this”…

And it’s going to be so so hard. I’ve only known for about four months now and it is so so hard.

However, it is just a part of you now. But it does not define you. It’s not something we can change and it’s not something that was our fault. It’s just something that happened.

We are not dirty people. We might feel like it, but we’re not… at the end of the day you are still you. You are still beautiful. You are still kind. You are still a person. Your worth is not anything that should be dismantled, even if we feel like it is.

There’s so many things we can change about ourselves like our hair color, our job occupation, where we live, how we want to love, WHO WE GET TO LOVE, and so many other things.

But we can’t change this. All we can do is recognize that we are still allowed to love ourselves. We are still allowed to get up each day and even though there are days that suck more than others- we are all going through things at the same time.

Everybody has things about themselves that they simply cannot change- this could be any medical problem, and while it’s so hard to get caught up in the fact that yes we do have this for life. We cannot change that and we cannot let something we cannot change, define you…

You are kind - you control your actions

Your hair color - you can change because you control that

Your ambitions in life - you get to pick every hope and desire you have in your life that can make you happy.

We get to control all of the things that we CAN change and that’s so beautiful.

This is something we cannot change about ourselves, so it does not define you. HSV is something we have, but it’s not something that defines you because you can’t control that.

You are defined by your actions, emotional intelligence towards others, who you let yourself be, and what you choose to do with your life. None of which is something that HSV has to do with.

Swabbed Myself

I find it so crazy how nobody says that they had to swap themselves at the urgent care to get their diagnosis?

Let me know if anybody else experienced this as well?!

Tracking my body

I’m really gonna try to stay on top of tracking my body and if or wind flareups happen- on top of all the medication’s that I plan on taking in order to help aid my body. I’m not super in love with the layout that I have currently and I’m sure it’s going to develop overtime, but I’m excited to see if it helps me understand myself at all.

If there’s any other things that you guys think I should be tracking in order to maybe manage this please let me know! Eventually, I wanna make an actual template that I can print out and just fill out right away so I don’t write it every night but that’s gonna be after I prove I can keep up with it

I was gonna put in a picture, but I realized we can’t put pictures in here which is honestly probably a good thing now that I’m thinking about it-

But as of right now, I put how many steps I got a day, how much sleep I got, the medication’s and supplements I took, a pain scale- that then breaks down into where the pain is located, what food I ate, how much water I drank, and then my mood!
