Image 1 — As a lover of weirdo plants, Dendrobium mindanaense checks off all the boxes for me. Weird zigzag foliage, frequent blooms that smell amazing, and it does well outside most of the year. Can anyone recommend other orchids with cool leaves?

I figure we see the leaves 100% of the time. Flowers are a rare treat. Show me your weirdo orchid leaves!!

What’s this weird wood thing that I’m assuming is part of a plant that I found in my yard this morning

It’s about 10 inches long. I’m in Charleston, SC. I found it under a magnolia tree. It feels like wood when I poked it with a stick

Stapelia flowers in the rain today

I love the stinky flowers! It’s super cool that they’re all blooming (or about to bloom) at the same time

My hot pink cactus got a stupid green spot on it. Did I do this right?

I wanted it to look like somebody bit into the side of an apple! Mission accomplished

My mammillaria has outgrown its pot but I’m afraid it’s going to fall apart while I’m transplanting it. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to move it to a larger pot while keeping it (mostly) together?

I love how clumpy it is. I have a bunch of pieces that have broken off in other pots but I’d like to keep the mama plant together…. If possible ❤️

I was gifted this sad painted succulent in December 2020 as a Christmas gift & I just repotted. The red paint is ALMOST totally gone.

For anyone who says the tortured/painted succulents can’t survive… this is proof they can have a glow up.

But you can’t ever get the stupid red paint off completely

May I present the most genius cactus trend I’ve ever seen at a big box store… the hydroponic cactus.

I’d rather see them with a plastic flower glued to the top than convince people they look beautiful as a floating light bulb

My handsome foster pup is so photogenic. Charlie Widdle is not really a fan of the beach but he does love chasing fiddler crabs & eating them

He’s such a funny dude with a so much personality. If anyone in the Charleston, SC area is looking for a good boy to add to their pack, you should definitely consider meeting Charlie Widdle

The plant that started my caudex obsession

I went to Mexico in May & saw this fatty at El Charco del Ingenio, a botanical garden & nature preserve in San Miguel de Allende. It sent me straight down a rabbit hole of weird plants.

One months growth of my Opercularia decaryi. The first pic is yesterday & the last pic is when it arrived in the mail on June 20.

It’s at least tripled in size & I repotted it into a much larger pot. Should I be cutting it back to encourage the caudex to thicken or just let it grow like crazy outside?

It’s growing so quickly. As much as I hate chopping a brand new, happy plant, I’m assuming it’s time.

I’m pretty new to caudex plants & all advice is welcome.

PSA: Inspect plants before you buy them. It’s not a good deal if they all have thrips.

As much as I love a deal, I’m not bringing thrips home.

It’s definitely vaginated… with bacterial vaginosis

I love finding vagination in the wild! I feel bad for the innocent people we’ve ruined, though

When I randomly picked up this Medusa Head Euphorbia a year ago, I had no idea she’d look like this. She has a crazy, corn cob looking trunk under all those tentacles

I just repotted her & wanted to show off how much she’s grown in a year. The last pic is the day I bought her. I didn’t even know what it was or that it would grow a crazy looking stem… I just know I love weird plants

Meet my new foster Chi, Charlie Widdle ❤️

Do yall think he’s a mix or full Chihuahua? I am curious if I should call him a chi mix. It really doesn’t matter… he’s the sweetest little dude.

Also, for anyone in South Carolina, he’s available through Lowcountry animal rescue!

Fruiting monstera at the hotel I’m staying in at the moment!

I’ve never seen the ripe fruit before. It smells amazing but I don’t want to pick it up off the ground & taste it in front of everyone in the lobby!
