Should I get V7 Sport 850 or is it not for me?

Hello everyone. Im a new rider, currently riding a 2005 a naked Suzuki SV650.

Even before I got my license and my bike, several motorcycles have captured my interest. The v7 Sport is one of them. The others are the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and the Honda CB1000F (yes, its already being sold where I live). I know these are somewhat different bikes, especially the Honda, but Im mentioning them just for context. Im interested in a retro styled machine, and Im leaning towards one that is actually retro feeling too - like the MG and RE. The honda covers the styling part which I absolutely love and provides more than enough power, but not so much of the feeling. My questions here will be mostly about the v7.

What I will be using the bike for in order of frequency:

- Fun weekend rides on twisty roads

- Longer trips over 2-3 days on backroads and some highways

- Commuting around the city

- longer highway only rides 400+ km in one direction

I plan to do at least one test ride, but I would like to hear from actual owners too.

The goal is long term ownership, not just to ride it for a year or two and flip it.

So first things first - my biggest concern is power. I dont want to be a speed demon, I want to comfortably cruise at 120-130 km/h and be able to relatively easily accelerate to about 160km/h when passing on the highways. Those may seem like some weird numbers, they are not the speed limits here but what the actual flow of traffic demands.

Another important thing is initial acceleration - at traffic lights its important to always get the jump on cars here, even the more powerfull ones. The SV650 (about 73hp) has no problems with that and I would expect the v7 sport to be just as good. However I notice in some tests that its 0-100km/h is rather leisurly at about 6 seconds which is actually much slower than the sv and even my car. What am I to expect here? This would be even bigger problem with thr RE which is my biggest concern for it too.

What about lane filtering in city traffic? The engine is wider, but it does not seem wider than the handle bars? My guess is it should not be an issue.

Another thing is reliability and availability of aftermarket parts and relatively ok prices. I have read varied opinions about the 850 reliability - some claim its practically eternal with normal maintenance, some mention oil consumption problems from the very start and bad warranty service. I dont mind an occasional issue or to even fix things myself but I dont want to buy a problem. I want a bike to ride, ride and ride some more.

Also, here I suspect the RE Interceptor will have a big advantage - aftermarket parts. Im talking exhausts, suspension upgrades, tail tidy etc. How is the market for those? What can I expect the general parts availability from Moto Guzzi to be years down the line? I remember having to pay 300 euro for a blinker hausing on my Alfa Romeo, cause the part was not available from Alfa anymore (for a 11 year old car) and therefore the secondary market prices were insane.

Thank you for taking the time to read through my small novel. I would love to hear your opinions and tips on the matter! If you have tested or even have one of the other bikes and can do some comparisons that would be absolutley great too!

Nexx x.r3r carbon is L O U D? Or is it just me? Owners please chime in.

Hey, new rider here. Last year I bought my first set of gear and for a helmet I got a Nexx x.r3r carbon pro 2. It is extremelly comfortable on my head and it has great ventilation. Field of view is awesome too. I like this helmet.

Now that I ride regularly, I often have to use a big city road where I go 80km/h +. Well, the limit is 80, but traffic goes 90 or a 100. So at such speeds I discovered this helmet has lots of wind noise. I use ear plugs - Alpine Race which do a great job of making the noise tolerable, but its still quite loud.

What puzzles me a bit is that Im reading some comments mentioning that the r3r is a relatively quiet helmet... So Im interested in what other owners think. Recommendations for quiet helmets are welcome too!

First weekend of riding - picking the scenic route

I have had the bike for about 10 days (its my first bike). I have made it a point to ride as much as possible to get some experience and defeat any fear I might have had. Im doing pretty well on those points. This was the first weekend during which I could ride the bike and Im finally starting to enjoy it. Hitting some scenic spots for a quick rest and a picture or two is great fun too.

Is my engine ok? Listen to the sound please

Just a couple of days I posted about my "new" SV650. I have been riding it for the last week with no problem. Today after a great 50 minute ride around the city, I heard this chattering sound while getting the bike in my garage. The sound could have been there from day 1, but I heard it today. Engine temp was 97°C. No noticeable issues except the sound itself.

I have booked a visit to the mechanic on monday. I would still like to hear your opinion, did I get a lemon or is this normal/not too scary of a problem?

Any tips for a 500 mile highway roundtrip?

Hello everyone. Im a brand new rider from Europe. I got my motorcycle about 5 days ago. At the end of the month I will have to do a ~500 mile round trip (250ish miles in one direction). I plan to do it in two days so thats 250 miles a day. Do you have any tips I could use?

Some hopefully relevant info:

  1. It will be a chill ride, probably bellow the speed limit (90 mph) as I ride a naked bike with a very small windshield and my helmet is on the louder side (I do have ear plugs)

  2. The bike will go through a professional mechanic first.

  3. I know the road very well.

  4. I understand the concet of counter steering and can use it altho it is not a muscle memory yet.

  5. I have minor experience at speeds of 60-70mph as for the last 5 days I ride on a city road that allows such speed (sry I dont know the word)

  6. For whatever it counts, Im a very experience driver with multiple track days behind me. I think this helps a bit in understanding the physics of breaking, acceleration, traction and weight transfer.

Got my SV650! Please recomend me street legal (EU) exhaust slip-on.

Im still getting used to the bike, but I want to change the big bqzooka of an end can with something more pleasing to the eye and the ear.

My problem is that it seems most manufacturers make slip-ons for the newer SV650 models - 2016 amd on. The universal end cans often seem to not be street legal.

Whay would you recommend me to get some deeper, throatier sound while not being too loud?

Im on my 4th Breitling, somebody stop me!

I have been eyeing the Avenger 2 GMT for years now, but always decided to "get it later". Well, now is "later".

I have been ignoring my VII for the last year due to various reasons. Today I stumbled upon some old photos and I was surprised how much I liked them. I will start bringing it with me everywhere again.
