Does basketweave use more thread?

This is something I’ve always wondered. I was kitting a canvass once and the shop person said one skein should be enough “unless you’re doing a fancy stitch like basketweave”. I don’t consider basketweave fancy, so I bought two, but I’ve always wondered ever since!

I don’t really have friends anymore, but I don’t feel comfortable making new friends.

I think essentially a lot of my friendships deteriorated not for my lack of trying, but because my friends had different priorities. It’s probably easier to maintain friendships in person when people move away and the people you left stay in the peripheral.

But also I feel deeply hurt by the people I thought were my close friends not making any effort. Like, I really feel forgotten. That’s not really how I operate, so it’s a bit of a shock to me.

At the same time, I obviously know I need new friends. The thing is that when I go to social events as an adult, I still feel like I don’t fit in. I’m incredibly uncomfortable the entire time and the anxiety of saying the right thing doesn’t seem worth it. I’d rather spend time with myself.

That being said, being alone is a self eating snake. I don’t really know what to do.

I went a little heavy on the right side. Will the finisher be able to make this look even?

Or should I attempt to thicken the left side with what I have left?

Is using a sharpie to color the patina back on actually a thing?

My sister told me that her store has sharpies at their cleaning section to color back in the patina when they over polish. I worked there years ago and this was not a thing we did lol. I’m kind of surprised?

Did corporate change dress code?

Hi!

I use to work for JA and when I worked there, the dress code was snappy casual. We weren’t allowed to wear jeans or sneakers except on like, Black Friday and maybe the charm sale if we had it. I developed plantar fasciitis from wearing flats everyday. 😂💀

My sister who is a decade younger than me just got hired on at a different store, and she was told she can wear jeans and sneakers. I said, “Oh for the charm sale?” and my sister said that they can wear that all the time. When I pointed out this use to be different, my sister said the dress code must’ve changed.

How am I ever going to catch 5000 bugs? 😭

Hi! I’ve been playing since New Horizons came out and I’ve basically met every goal in the game EXCEPT “you’ve got the bug”. I’m around 3,100 right now, but all I do is catch bugs! Does anyone have tips?

Any recommendations for an ornament tree? 🎄

Does anyone have an ornament tree they like for their finished ornaments? I’d like something wood or metal that I can leave up year round. I’m looking around online but it’s hard to tell what’s quality so I thought I’d ask here! Thank y’all! :)

My Mom: “That’s nice if you want Jack’s hairy back on your wall.” 😂😭💀

This week I’ve had two acquaintances ask for me to stitch something for them. The first person wanted an ornament and was shocked by the price. The second person wanted to commission me to stitch a baby shower present that’s about 10x10. She basically offered to cover supplies.

The thing is… I stitch for joy and my stitching is a labor of love. I don’t think a “commission” would be very fun for me. I’m sure quilters and other hobbyists run into this same issue.

I’m happy to encourage someone to stitch their own project and I’m happy to coach them with fancy stitches, but I don’t want to do it for them. 😭

Hi y’all! I’m wanting to slowly build my collection because I love a good fancy stitch.

I obviously have Stitches To Go.

I also have The Needlepoint Book, Third Edition by Jo Ippolito Christensen, the Needlepoint: A Modern Stitch Directory deck, & Next Level Needlepoint.

Which other books do y’all recommend? I am thinking Ins & Outs.
