I want to make it clear, I am by no means a fan of Andrew Jackson but he is one of the most impactful early American presidents, for good and ill. What we know as the modern day politician can trace their roots back to the campaign style of Jackson all the way back in 1824. History is nothing but an endless loop. I stereotyped Jackson as some raving, frontiersmen who somehow landed in DC via his victory in New Orleans, I walk away now seeing how incredibly astute he was at playing the game. Ultimately to not ramble for paragraphs since I have many, many thoughts on this, I will say Jackson represents the best and worst of American character, more so than any other president. He shows in equal measure our capacity for kindness, loyalty and virtue while at the same time showing the depths of our cruelty, prejudices and willful ignorance.

Will take any and all recommendations for further Revolutionary War and early American history.

Outside of the basics I was taught in high school, I never focused in on early American history (even after getting my bachelors in history) and I’m blown away by how complex and scheming it all was then. The duel between these two men is hardly the focus and I rather enjoyed the amount of time spent showing how we had even gotten to that point. Fun read for sure!

Really enjoyed getting to wander around the fort and listen to the Ranger talk! Who knew the war of 1812 would cause this fort to play a role in the Civil War. As always, love to read about Confederate L’s!!!

Went to the home opener against the Cubs and brought my film camera loaded up with some Ilford HP5+

Always loved reading the Terry Pluto columns and articles so once I say this sitting on the shelf there was no way I was passing it up.(

Really happy with the work and the color choices. I think once the colors settle I’ll appreciate it even more. Never saw anyone do koi under the grey before and admittedly I was nervous but he crushed it. The upper sleeve had been done by GAK in Hiroshima so having an artist be able to tie his work to an existing piece and make it flow so well was worth every penny. Total time spent was 4 sessions, 5 hours each. Let me know what you all think!
