Has religious influence or accommodation gone too far?

We have cabinet members cozying up to an extreme pastor. We have courts allowing businesses to refuse cakes for gay weddings, we have religious exemptions for vaccines(which as far as I can tell applicants don’t have to cite scripture and context to receive), and more.
Should anyone running for office be required to sever ties to their church, mosque, or synagogue or memberships to religious groups and organizations?

A friendly reminder for the progressives.

STOP sh**ting on “the establishment.”
STOP with the purity tests.
BE NICE to those who disagree with you, and
STOP obsessing over the Middle East.

Your behavior matters to a candidate’s electability more than you think it will. “The establishment” is MUCH BIGGER than you are willing to admit it is. “Normies” aren’t chronically online or flaunting their support for the fringe outsiders spouting unrealistic campaign ideas.

Dems literally can’t or struggle to win without the Black vote. LISTEN TO THEM. Not the voices in your mind fixated on a war thousands of miles away.

Megan Romer FOX interview

So……… that happened. The DSA just FAFO’d and thanks to her, Democrats will be on damage control the next 3 months and the Democrats who accepted endorsements from DSA would do best to try and rescind those.

I swear, and I say this as a Dem, the progressive wing ALWAYS finds a way to make themselves look stupid in the wildest ways.

Maybe don’t go on conservative media to talk about your platform………..

AIPAC Obsession

As a Democrat, why???? This purity test IS STUPID. Low information voters and moderates don’t care or care very little about AIPAC. Republicans couldn’t care less. The message from the right will ultimately be “stopping communism” and that is a huge weakness for Abdul El-Sayed and the Progressive and DSA class.

You’re in for a huge surprise when there are likely many silent and undecided voters who go for Haley Stevens. She is polling better against Mike Rogers, has a record of winning, and is a fighter. Progressives - reconsider.

Food for thought: Vote for a better, more mature city council.

Not saying putting Metro Chamber puppets are the answer, but Morillo and the DSA members after the “Daddy” exchange towards Keith Wilson and the more moderate wing was childish and we can’t let that crap in city government. We also can’t let people in who will write blank checks to billionaires. Portland needs to revive its economy though.

Why does accountability need to require ruining a man’s reputation and their career?

Just genuinely curious. There would not be as much of a divide if victims talked through conflict, or at the very least came forward right away instead of waiting until some big announcement, promotion, etc.

Unpopular opinion: DSA candidates are uneducated and voters should reject them.

Seriously though. These candidates lack the knowledge and understanding of our political system and how a bill gets passed. Or the ones that do will immediately moderate since they realize they have to work with those who hate their platform. They will NEVER deliver on their signature issues like Medicare for all, a $15 minimum wage, let alone 20, or anything with “free in it.” These things need to be funded and placing the burden on the rich will just cause the rich to leave, then the burden falls on working class Americans. Orrrrrr……. The courts will strike it down for you.

Senate race

Why are y’all pushing Abdul El-Sayed? Michigan is a purple state that voted for Trump in 2 of the last 3 general elections. Michigan and Wisconsin are begging for an R flip if they elect El-Sayed and Hong. You need a big tent and a progressive can’t and won’t bring that.

CMV: Ending or phasing out remote work was a horrible idea.

I get it: Businesses need to make money, organizations need to pay their lease. HOWEVER… gas is expensive, groceries are high, rent is high, and somehow, organizations are still allowed to pay employees less than $20-$25 an hour or $50K a year.

INSTEAD…. Cities should buy up empty office buildings, convert them into remote work hubs with private meeting rooms where they contract with a local cafe or bakery who can set up shop inside to sell coffee drinks but people should not feel compelled to buy anything.

The pressure to spend has gotten out of hand. Let us have free third spaces. Nothing changes until we as a collective rebel and make it consistent.

PSA: Fireworks

Not sure who needs to hear this. Fireworks are banned. Please don’t even try. This isn’t loss of freedom. This is protecting our forests. Those setting them off should not get offended if or when someone reports them and they get fined.
