Worst single appearance guest character?

Worst single appearance guest character?

Incredibly obnoxious, not at all a fit for the show (nor as a realistic friend for Bernadette).

What other contenders are there?

That's a new one

Along with other recent measures to curb shoplifting (opening less self-serve) my local is now holding expensive meats at the back and requiring customers to ask a staff member if they wish to purchase.

They've also started asking to check any and all bags (handbags aside).

Has your local done the same?

My Sweet Prince Edwin

Most won't even use him as he's a Topps Now card, but honestly, the dude slays.

His hitting stats don't stand out, but the swing is incredible and he has surprising power.

Enough speed to steal at will and superb in the field at 2B.

If you've just got him in your binder wasting away, give him a shot.

You won't regret it.

Pack Palooza - Did anyone do the extreme moments?

If so, how did you go?

I'd be way out of my depth (still not hit for the cycle in my time playing this game) and thankfully I don't need those packs so will just get them naturally through gameplay, but keen to see how the better guys went.

The poor staff

There were seven people in front of me, three more behind, and just one poor young lad at the registers copping abuse for not having self service open.

I get the frustration, but seriously people, it's not the lad on the registers fault.

Good grief

First time trying Colorfull (they don't ship to Australia), and first time experiencing a co-ferment this wild.

It's too crazy black, but in a 5oz milky it tastes like strawberries and cream laced with sherbet.

20 in, 40 out, 32 seconds.

Split shot.

I know co-ferments are controversial, and i go between enjoying and despising them, but this one is done very well.

Super light, but well developed roast, too.

June Selection - Theme 'New to Australia'

This month's theme is 'roasters generally not shipping to, or available, in Australia'.

I managed to get my hands on a selection of coffees from Perc, Traffic, Sorellina, Brandywine, FUNK, Colorfull and Luna.

Aside from a small tasting of Brandywine, they're all totally new to me, so keen to see what they're all about.

Btw anyone reading in Melbourne who wants to taste any of these, happy to shoot you a dose of each.

Orea grind settings?

Hi all,

This stubborn old man has finally relented on strictly using the v60 and Kalita and got himself an 01 and 04 Wide.

I've yet to have a chance to brew with them, but for those with these, how fine are you grinding?
I've seen a lot of people suggesting one go much finer with Orea given the much faster flow rates, but i've also seen the odd 'expert' suggesting super coarse grinds (as high as 32 clicks on a Comandante).

For reference, i start at about 25 clicks for v60, generally.

I've got some Orea filters as well as the Sibarists to play with.

Rod Carew is him....

He gets overlooked due to the low power and not being a switch hitter, but the swing is butter and those amazing quirks pop, so for me, he hits a ton of homers.

He's also got 100+ contact both sides, near game high clutch rating and enough speed to steal bags with ease.

T-sharts

Haven't bought or worn a wrestling tee since a 2006 TNA Aj Styles (no, not that one ya fookin' animals) but the joy the lads bring this grumpy old lapsed wrestling fan means it's well worth buying a few.

These will be worn proudly around Melbourne.

Kiner you magnificent bastard

Dropping that 519ft bomb in his first AB.

On other news, probably the first time I have ever gotten a hold of a Mason Miller fastball.

Spencer Jones - Righty Killer

Can't hit lefties to save himself, but by goodness does he slay righties.

Nice quirks and 101 power right somehow supplants the horrendous vision.

Give him a shot.

Big Sur Birthday Present

...to myself.

Big Sur finally have a proper website to order from, so with my birthday in mind, i ordered a selection a few weeks ago.

It took a long and windy road from China to Australia, but arrived today, on my birthday.

Five geishas amongst them.

Couldn't ask for better timing.

Hope they live up to the hype.

Gilles De Bilde

Quite a controversial character -

Gilles De Bilde was involved in a serious on-field assault in December 1996, punching Eendracht Aalst player Krist Porte during a First Division match. The incident left Porte with a broken nose and severe eye injury, resulting in criminal charges for voluntary wounding and a lengthy suspension for De Bilde. (I don’t think De Bilde even got booked for it)

In 2006, he missed a match to mourn the death of one of his dogs

In 2011 he stood trial for the alleged battery of his wife

What's this all about?

Went into the app to change a lineup and saw this.

Throwback to sets and seasons? It was before my time, but this is rather odd.

They made a big deal of removing durability, which they used to artificially inflate the overalls, however as we saw yesterday, it appears they have simply started using bunt stats to artificially inflate overalls.

I'm not surprised, but it's still disappointing.

Take Sammy Sosa.

They've given yesterday's card an 82 bunt.

His 99 overall last year had what, 32 bunt (or similar)?

We all see the same meta lineups online, but rarely talk about those non-meta cards that we're loving, the cards that few use, that might have weaknesses but that you just hit really well with.

Who are they for you?

A few of mine;

Trent Grisham - The recently released Topps Now card flew under the radar for many, but he has a ton of power on both sides and is regularly hitting nukes for me.
He's an above average fielder, albeit with poor speed.

Ray Durham - His Egg Hunt card is just a doubles machine for me.
He's got low power, so won't hit many dingers, but his contact is great, has high vision, high speed and a good swing.
The card isn't cheap due to the collections, but he's a jet.

Justin Crawford - Like Durham, Crawford has zero pop, but he has ridiculously high contact on both sides, maxed out speed and stealing, and excellent fielding in centre.
His OBP is stupidly good.

Juan Soto - I know it's weird to call a high Live Series card non-meta, but i haven't seen many using him however he's been a power hitting beast for me in LF.
Massive power and really good contact against righties helps a lot.
He can comfortably steal bags as well.
His fielding holds him back, but a mod helps.
