can someone pleaseee help me out

i’m really struggling to decide and i have alot of interests. I’ve picked the degree purely based of subjects that would be good in the future but i’d also be happy studying them. I’ve already done a year at uni which i enjoyed but because of mh issues at the time which are now much better i have decided to restart. But i have an apprenticeship opportunity in my home town and i really liked the company but i don’t know what i truly want :/

I would say my main industry interest is media/music.

Does exeter have a student union club

Like Cardiff has YOLOS etc is there an on campus club that people go to maybe like on sports nights or something like that or is it literally just timepiece and fever ????

exeters nightlife and music scene

Now that the uni students are gone is there still a buzz at night or is it a bit dead ? I was also wondering if the cities a good fit for someone who really likes music and then going clubbing ( surely there are more than 2 nightclubs ) or is it more a pub city ?

Or any nearby areas that i could go to for that?

Which is the better option Level 3 apprenticeship or degree?

can someone please advise on whether i should complete a level 3 marketing apprenticeship with a well respected global company the person interviewing me was also an apprentice then left the company for a bit and has now returned as head of the department. I would be living at home so could save a good 15k in those 18 months and would use some of that to go travelling for a while afterwards.

or i go to exeter and do a level 6 finance with business management degree.

i barely have any savings and come from a dead low income area, I am interested in both marketing and finance and which is better in the long run ?

resitting a module

hey guys i am a first year potentially going into second year i just recieved my transcript where i failed 3 modules and passed 3, out of the 3 i failed they each contain 2 assessments which make up 50% each of the module.
I passed at least one of the assesments for each so the fail has come from the 3 none submissions

My personal tutor is out of office for a while so i was wondering when resitting do i have to redo the entire module despite passing one of the 2 required assessments or just the exam i failed on.

Hope that makes sense

Frustrated with my hair and upset

It wouldn’t let me post this in natural hair so i wanted to post it here but i am very insecure about my hair , i was at an event yesterday event and this man i didn’t know came up to me pointed at me really loudly and said ‘’whats wrong with your hair is it alopecia’’ it took me by suprise because i really didn’t think it looked that bad which my mom said and i was so so embarrassed he then said ‘’ i respect you for not covering it up and hiding it’’ and then he told me to try some oil which i know is bs and then i went home and just sobbed and i don’t want to leave the house again.

i know the loss at the sides looks bad but when its up in hairstyles i thought you couldn’t notice it as much , i saw a dermatologist regarding this 3 years ago when i was 17 who told me the follicles are dead and i would need to save up for a hairtransplant which i should wait until im at least 21 to do.

i have always been self conscious about my edges admittedly i started getting box braids in 2020 and wore them in for around 3/4 months which i now know was too long , i love my hair in a silk pressed state as i find it so much easier to just chuck into a messy bun without putting tension on my edges however i know that comes with heat damage so its no benefit. I now get braids by my sister and i completely leave the edges out it looks weird but it works and i leave them in for 2 months max , i sometimes silk press my hair and i get sew ins occasionally but they don’t seem to damage my edges and i really want to get a versatile sew in but no one will do it understandably because of the condition of my edges.

the left side has only started getting bad recently and i dont know why my hair is so weak i don’t have the best history of iron levels so it could relate to that however the right side has always been worse. I have got minoxidil which i will try for 6 months whilst i save up for a hair transplant.

i am so so pissed of and upset

so i have been dealing with endo symptoms for the past 4 years now since the age of 16 i am now 20, I have been on the evra patch for a year which the doctos put me on even though i literally can’t have sex ( unsure why my body just doesn’t let it happen ) i will admit it has been good for not wanting to have a period however i am so scared of the side effects and i feel like it is ruining my mood so much i’d just rather not be on it.

i am based in the uk so i have to go through a gp first before seeing a gyno i have seen 6 different gps who all just tried to put me on bc then i finally saw one who i explained my symptoms too - severe period pain to the point id be on the floor at school , headaches , pain spreading to my legs , diharrea, pain during ovulation, tiredness- she said it sounded very likely to be endo and i felt like someone was finally listening to me , she referred me a for an ultrasound then i was told she had left the surgery which did break my heart.

I had the ultrasound in nov/dec 2023 it came back clear however it wont always show on ultrasounds which another gp told me , i had another ultrasound sometime in 2025 which also came back clear, so then i was referred to a gynaecologist. Sometimes in the uk you are referred to another service seperate from the nhs which i was i ended up getting an appointment in November 2025. During the appointment i felt quite ignored the woman said to me ‘’if the birth control is helping with your period cramps then why do u need further support / diagnosis’’ i explained i wanted to find the reason for the pain and she just went quiet and told me she has referred me for an mri but i wont be under their care anymore and sent back to my gp.

So here is me assuming i am on a waiting list to get an MRI scan which would probably take around 5/6months, Come to March i get a call from the service who said their contract with the nhs has ended therefore the gp handles everything from here on out they then said i haven’t been referred for anything to which i was very confused.
Long story short , On my appointment referall for the MRI details the service wrote ‘’ the mri will be sorted by ( service name ) my gp received this and assumed they wouldn’t be sorting the mri and the service is , turns out it was a technical error which put that at the end of the message and my gp was meant to sort the MRI not the service i complaiend about the service in March and finally got a very long phone call apology last week to which they said unfortunately they cant do anything because im not under their care and they are not contracted with the hospital anymore.

So i had to go back to my GP who have referred me back to gynaecology which is one of the longest waiting lists - So i have to wait ages to see them to which they will probably refer me for anything MRI for and then i have to wait ages for that aswell. I am considering going private but i cannot afford that at the moment. Essentially, I am pissed of that i have had to go back to the start of a very long waiting list knowing i would’ve been seen by now possibly with a diagnosis and that still no one is taking me seriously 💔

i don’t have a ‘’dream job’’ but what would be the smart decision here

20 and have 3 options now after dropping out of an urban planning degree as i only chose it because i looked at job prospects and its nicheness rather than if i had any passion in it at all. I have enjoyed the uni experience i do however feel quite behind and like finishing at 23 will mean im spending less years in work meaning less money saved and no time for travelling if that makes sense?

i either go to the university of exeter this year for finance with business management ( and i could minor in something like ai or data science or sustainability ) and get an internship with a media/music company for hr or project management or recruitment

go straight into work in the industry i am interested and in, i am currently also in the running for a l3 marketing apprenticeship with the opportunity for a permanent role in the company upon completion and then do a year in Aus on the working visa

take a year out and go travelling and exploring my hobbies alot more and then try for a degree apprenticeship? or at least have more industry experience through volunteering etc i would’ve completed

this decision has been on my mind for over a year now , financial stability really means alot to me and i really would like to see myself progressing out of the low income area i live in , i don’t have many friends and i’ve only ever been to dublin
i just feel like because i redid my alevels and i would be restarting uni i don’t have time to do it all so i feel like i need to prioritise whereas if i started uni at 18 i would of felt so less stressed.

feeling very overwhelmed about uni and my 20s

i already redid y12 because i didn’t lock in well enough and was very self conscious which effected my studies. i definitely had a plan to finish uni aged 21/22 and then ideally go travelling before committing to a full time job.

i came to uni because i wanted a degree ideally for stability but mainly because of the opportunity to live away from home , the societies , opportunities to make friends from all over as i didn’t really have many friends beforehand which i can say it has given me but i haven’t taken full advantage of it because of self conscious and at the time undiagnosed mental health issues which are now much much better.

unfortunately those issues affected my first year and i have been to about 15 lectures from september to now which i know is awful, i also chose the wrong course but have not revised a single thing about the course since september.
Because of this i am obviously not passing first year - i could resit the modules and just continue on a course i dont like but i dont think that’s the best idea so i will be moving/changing courses.

My real passion is music / the arts i would love to work in relation to that or even sports or crime the issue is you don’t need a degree for any of them, i also do love the uni life and the vast opportunities and living away from home so i don’t want to lose something like that but im picking a course for next year i can’t say i love but like my than my current one ( finance w business management as i did like it for a level )

what i cant get out of my head is that i will be finishing at 23, it’s less of a finishing later than everyone else thing and more of a thats a year i could’ve spent doing some travelling or working to save towards a house or about how much more financially stable id be , i feel like i’ve wasted so much time and i don’t know what to do anymore.

panicking after cooking pasta

cooked some free from pasta made from rice flour and a bunch of other stuff, put it on to boil around 2 hrs ago, came back in after forgettingabout it , reheated in for about 2 mins and then had around 3 mouthfulls before deciding to chuck it away as i was already panicking, did i do the right thing? , still panicking about those 3 mouthfulls i ate as ik it can be bad for you.
but then i thought about how i used to cook pasta in the morning then take it with me to school and eat it hours after so i don’t get how it works ?

how litty is the city

i’m transferring from cardiff ( amazing nightlife ) to exeter for uni , the only thing stopping me from doing so is how awful the nightlife is in Exeter and how there is barely anything to do there,
I’ve looked on tiktok and i just see people saying how they need to get tickets to the clubs like a week in advance is it that bad 🥲🥲struggling because i really like exeter but want to have a fun time

am i in the wrong or my dad?

basically to sum it up me and my friends got a second year house together in around November , my dad was the guarantor on the house.

After a long time spent deliberating i decided that i’d much prefer to do a different course but they don’t do it at the uni i’m at so i’d move ( i have a place at the unis) . The course i’m doing now isn’t for me i find it too boring and also i have missed alot of y1 content and lectures as i was dealing with anxiety and depression but have had uni and nhs therapy which has made me feel alot better, therefore i would like to start my uni journey again doing a course i know i’d prefer at a better uni.

My dad has said that i have wasted a whole year ( i also started y12 again as i chose the wrong a levels , so if i start uni again i will be 20 ) and that i should literally be graduating next year, He then also said this change has financial implications on him also and that if i move uni he won’t be a guarantor again for me as he was the one for my 2nd yr house i dropped out of it but i made it clear if i didn’t find a replacement i would’ve stayed at the uni and in the house so it wouldn’t fall back on him but i did find someone. He says i haven’t communicated with him on how my course has been going but i did briefly tell him in January i was considering moving anyway but he doesn’t really ask me about how its going or message at all tbh

I’m just so overwhelmed idk

could really do with some advice…

i threw up in 2019 quite a bit when i was around 13/14, following this ( i think ) i had symptoms that were very similar to acid reflux- constant feeling nauseas , throat feeling tight ( swallowing fine ) , sour taste , maybe a bit of heartburn. I had a barium swallow test because at the time i was way to scared to have a camera down my throat but the test showed i was fine.

From then on , i had very on and off flare ups with some being alot worse than others , i took gaviscon which helped manage it and had periods of time i didn’t have it at all. It has always been something that has appeared and disappeared.

I visited a doctor in 2024 when i had a flare up who tested me for hpylori - negative. I am now near 20 and would say for the past 6 months now i have been having symptoms alot worse but the past 3 months have been alot worse. I have been feeling nauseous every second of everyday when i wake up , during the day , before i go to sleep , when i wake up in the middle of the night i constantly feel sick. I find that gaviscon does not help me anymore. I visited my gp who tested me again for hpylori and put me on omerprozale. I took Omerprozale for two weeks but i could not control bowel movements had diharrea and my stomach kept constantly rumbling harshly with no noticeable help to the reflux so i came of it i am still around 2 weeks later dealing with the constant harsh stomach rumbling.
I was wondering if this even seems like gerd? I feel so nauseous to the point where i am waiting by the toilet to vomit and constantly on the phone to my mom bc of it , i cry because of it constantly and i cannot do any of my normal activities like go out w my friends or go gym , i also struggle to sleep because of it.

The back of my throat feels acidy , stomach cramps , constant mouth watering but i haven’t never once thrown up from this feeling. I have another gp appointment in 3 weeks but i cannot deal with this in the time being will anti nausea tablets help any advice??

exeter for finance w management ( and they have a cool minor skills thing which can show on ur degree etc + applied ai or data science…

or

loughborough commercial management with quantity surveying

i do think i will find this course more boring however i do prefer loughborough over exeter based of what i’ve seen on social media. I’ve only visited exeter not loughborough but the diversity and nightlife seems alot better at loughborough so i feel like i have a tricky decision.
