Handicap non diagnostiquée, relation ruinée, pensées noires.

Salut.

Beating sleep apnea (maybe!) Nobody celebrate with ...

Hello,

During 18-23 I had un-diag sleep apnea. With a hard breakup with savior syndrom in my 18-20, I thought it was only depression.

I met my ex during 23-25 (she was 18-20) and got a treatment that made everything worst (aerophagia destroying my body, eating disorder, living in a shit hole appartment my girlfriend wouldn't even sleep in, anxiety through roof, having anxiety diarrhea whenever I went in the street or out etc.).
We both fought during 2 years until I got a surgery in february.

Guess it wasn't sleep apnea by itself but a difformity I had since being a child, preventing me to breath and to do everyday without apnea.

My nose wasn't straight, my tonsils where too big, and I got a turbinoplasty. Three in one surgery.

Alas, my girlfriend didn't had the energy to fight again and I couldn't hold our relationship. She left the boat the month I got better.

EDIT: She was the best person in the world. She was reassuring me while fighting with her own family drama and school. I was an awful person to her on multiple level because of the sickness and an amazing person on other levels.
Hindsight bias made me realize everything. I thought about not continuing life because feeling of regrets and shame where to hard to hold. Though, I'm doing therapy since the breakup and try to be a better person everyday !!

Nobody to party with so I shared with you guys.

(It's been 2 months, I'm still devastated from the breakup. She was my everything since I couldn't go out and make friends in club or else ; with handicap and sickness, it's hard to distinguish what's your fault and what did sickness ; if I didn't looked at all the pictures during these years, my anxiety would tell me it's all my fault only for the breakup).

(23) to (26)

During my 18-25 old I was sick. Without family and friends, I didn't known I had a difformity preventing me to breath correctly day and night.
At 23, in 2024, I got a treatment that wasn't the right one, it destroyed me during two years until the surgery.

My girlfriend from 2024-2026 helped me a lot toward healing myself and showing me what was kindness and taking care of myself. Thanks to her, I got a surgery removing the handicap.
It's been a month. She left the month I was healed. I can't blame her on being tired by everything she's done for me ; and I dwell on the past, not being able at the time to be an awesome person to her.

Before : Depressed. Full of anxiety. Alone. I stayed in a dirty appartment, broken, darky, with a cat peing everywhere during 10 years, with eating disorder and my handicap preventing me to breath and sleep. I played videogame because it was the only thing I could do, not being able to go out without being immediatly sick with diarr**.
Thinking about the past triggers wave of sadness and cries : it was such a hard place full of pain.

After : I can go out, enjoy the sun, meet people, read near a river or write under a tree. I can spend the whole day outside without any belly pain.
My cat got better and didn't peed outside the litter for 2 consecutive months!
I stopped videogame that are addictive and grindy, maybe I'll keep them for the story sometimes.
I read 1000 pages of books in a month, that never happened before.
I feel peace. No more fight, no more anxiety, only the leaves in the wind.

I'm all the Loïc that my old girlfriend waited 2 years to see, but now it's too late.

Even when feeling peace for the first time in my years, I'm still sad beyond compare.

New haircut after 7 years without cutting ! Because of breakup of 2 years a month ago.

I was sick during two years ; it affected my relationship a lot. The month she gave up, the surgery I made healed my body : I'm free but alone.

I'm feeling devastated even if I'm trying to smile.

Breakup

I (M23-25) had a girl (F18-20) that was the nicest person I've ever met. I was sick during two years before knowing I had a difformity preventing me from breathing day and night like a normal person.
It caused me anxiety and diarrhea whenever I was outside or have the slightest stress, and crazy pain in the face that we didn't known where it came from.

I've isolated myself. I did hurt her feelings without knowing through confession of every intrusive thoughts I had in my head.
For example, I thought a threesome would be a way of discovering more on sexuality : it wasn't (we did nothing but it did caused drama with a third friend). I didn't known she convinced herself by fear of losing me. It was a nice idea at the time ; but I didn't known it could be pressuring (now I know the lesson).

I've fucked up our relationship on this way and by being sick everyday full of pain and unable to take her out or to discover what she liked in life. The anxiety, pain and tireness, was so high I don't even recognize the texts I sent sometimes or the reactions i had.

I got a surgery. Since I'm breathing, my nervous system got reset : I have open eyes, no more pain anywhere, and I can think straight. I have a sea of regrets to my opened eyes. All the time she took care of me and I didn't see it because of being tired, full of pain, or not emotionnally available.
I'm feeling like waking up from a nightmare only to see what I did wrong (and good though because we did great things too).

I'm grieving the future we will never have since the breakup, 45 days ago, that happened the same month I've healed.

I'm shameful, full of blaming and sadness. But the pain of regrets and the pain of losing all we'll even planned is ... horrible.

It may not be as hard as some stories I read, but it felt a bit better to write.

[25/M] French student in philosophy

Hello,

I am a 25M student in philosophy. I'm beginning journaling and handcraft. Since I like to write a lot, I'm searching for someone to write to. My hobbies are rollerblading, botanic, reading (SF), video-games (Silksong or Clair Obscur for examples, but I'm knowing on a lot of matter), and all related.

I have an 11 years old cat that is very cute and helpful around the house.

I'm searching for someone that has hobbies like mine and could share their passion (like sharing pictures of their plants or doing theory about games). It would also be awesome to do snailmail if they want to :)

[25M] Just processed my breakup and finally realized my severe medical condition (Sleep Apnea) was destroying my cognitive functions and my relationship with my ex [19F]. I am devastated by the retroactive clarity.

Hello, (non english speaker so I used a translate + big text coming).

For the past six years, I have been living in a state of absolute biological warfare with my own body. I suffered from severe, undiagnosed sleep apnea, chronic sinus inflammation, and crippling intestinal issues that completely ruined my daily life. I was constantly exhausted, skipping meals without realizing it, and spending hours hyper-analyzing my medical machine data just to survive. Because of this chronic oxygen deprivation and constant cortisol spikes, my brain was permanently operating in emergency survival mode.

I didn't realize it at the time, but I was treating my relationship, 2 years ago, like a battlefield. Having grown up in a highly dysfunctional environment without any proper family structure or models of affection, I subconsciously believed that love had to be earned through struggle, sacrifice, and intense technical performance.

My ex, who is brilliant but young and deeply controlled by an incredibly abusive, toxic mother, handled conflicts through people-pleasing compliance followed by sudden explosions.

The absolute tragedy of this timeline is that my health issues were completely resolved and properly calibrated the exact month she finally gave up. Following surgery, getting glasses, and quitting caffeine, my body has finally stabilized. For the first time in my life, I can breathe. My brain has oxygen, my emotions are unblocking, and I am finally experiencing true inner peace.

But the retroactive clarity is a nightmare. With my newly oxygenated brain, I can finally look back and see all the hints I missed, the maladroit comments I made about her appearance when I was fasting and irritable, and how incredibly patient and extraordinary she was to stick by me through my sickness.
During our very last nights together, when I could finally breathe, I was able to offer her the true, calm tenderness and gentle love she had been begging for the entire relationship. It proved the capacity for sweetness was always in me, but the timing was completely ruined.

I am completely destroyed and heartbroken by the fact that I had to lose the only person who ever truly tried to take care of me just to finally wake up and heal. I am taking full responsibility for my mistakes instead of relying on easy excuses. I've cut out video games and online doomscrolling completely, thrown myself into reading literature, drawing, rollerblading, and caring for my senior cat (who hasn't had a stress-related accident in two months since I became calmer).

I know the relationship was structurally unstable due to her family’s severe interference and our incompatible developmental maturity levels (20 vs 25), but the guilt of knowing I was a chaotic, irritable ghost of myself for two years is incredibly heavy to carry. I'm trying to convert this crushing guilt into forward-moving responsibility, but looking back at who I was while asphyxiated is deeply painful.

I've survived breakup with toxic ex, i've survived depression, I've survived my family with whom I cut bridges. For the first time, I can feel inner peace and break. Though this breakup may be too much.

(I have a therapist and do my best to have hobbies, now that I can, sleep and all).

2 years

I was sick during 2 years. I couldn't be the man that she wanted me to be. I've healed. It's too late, she can't bare it.

We spent some time with the new man I am, and we're desesperate seeing that it could have worked. She can't take the risk ; and I'm deeply lost, seeing how everything could have been better.

It's hard.

L'école primaire a abandonné.
