I Can't Wait for the Legacy Movies to Be Dead & Gone

I know especially folks who grew up on them love them but I am so ready to move forward.

I long for a day post-Secret Wars when people stop pretending that the majority of Fox X-men movies were worth the time and money spent on them and that the Raimiverse is quintessential Spider-man.

I yearn for a day when Logan is not synonymous with "Hugh" and when the name "Tobey" is only referenced when talking about the actor who played Arnim Zola, not Spider-man.

I await a day when Venom only exists because a symbiote met Spider-man first and "Morbius" is more than a punchline.

I hope for a Green Goblin who is a prick tech mogul (not just a guy with mental health problems) & Doc Ock is constantly and pettily reminding everyone how smart he is (not just a nice guy who got a chip in his neck), and they live in the same universe as Peter Parker, and have a personal connection with them.

I look forward to the day when the X-men, the F4, the Avengers, & Spidey all live in the same sandbox and are not weighed down by movies and versions of characters from alternate dimensions/previous studio stewardship.

In Doom we trust. Let us pray.

EDIT: "dead & gone" simply means I don't want them to keep bringing back or referencing the old non-MCU versions. Some people seem to think I am saying I want them erased from history, but no, I just want them to stop trying to go back to those old poisoned wells.

Major X-men Should Be Introduced in Other MCU Properties

I’d love to see the original five X-men in the first MCU movie but I think it would be more interesting if we got other major characters like Storm, Rogue, Wolverine, etc in other major properties first and then they are brought into the first X-sequel.

Black Panther 3: We know that Ryan Coogler is casting for Storm atm for Black Panther 3. This would allow us to see the T’Challa relationship while also showing us an Ororo who is literally worshipped as a goddess before she becomes an X-man.

Captain Marvel 3: Rogue’s flight & super strength come from Carol Danvers. I would love to see Carol back on Earth but mutants make her life hell. Carol is familiar with shapeshifting Skrulls, but Mystique is proving more clever than the Skrulls had been and Rogue at her side only complicates matters all the more. Plus, a lot of Carol’s story is her with Xavier at the X-mansion recovering from Rogue’s attack. If Rogue is introduced in Captain Marvel 3 and then working for Magneto or Mystique or Sinister in the X-sequel she could easily start off as a villain and then get brought into the X-men by the end of the movie after a turn. We could also see Nightcrawler introduced here as well since he's another of Mystique's children...

Hulk vs Wolverine: I know Universal still has weird film rights with Hulk, but ideally we get a newly cast Logan (not Hugh Jackman) who is assigned by Alpha Flight to look into a series of weird attacks in the Yukon when he runs into Banner who is in hiding. They fight. It’s as dope as you’ve always pictured it would be and then they figure out that the attacks have not been Hulk but Wendigo and then Hulk & Wolverine have to team-up to stop Wendigo. I want this movie so badly.

Who else would you want introduced in another property and then be folded into the X-men in the sequels?

I do think this would make the world feel richer especially for the "Mutant Saga."

Assignment: Fancast the MCU Masters of Evil

As an exercise you have been given the task of casting the MCU Masters of Evil.

The scenario:

It's a post-Secret Wars universe now. The "reset" & the X-men are in full swing. Ghost Rider and some other members of a yet to be established Midnight Sons are on the board now. But even though it's the "Mutant Saga" the Avengers is still a billion dollars franchise and Feige wants the Avengers to take on a full team-up of supervillains as they have yet to really do that (minus the Black Order bc they were really minions of Thanos).

Taking into account all of the casting that has already happened:

  1. Which villains would you want to be a part of the MCU Masters of Evil?

  2. Who would you want cast if we have yet to see that character on screen?

For me:

Baron Zemo - no reason to recast Daniel Bruhl as he is great in the role & want him dancing again.

Titania - again, Jameela Jamil is great in this role and I would love to see more of her as the villainous vixen.

Absorbing Man - Alan Ritchson. I love him in Reacher and interviews and even though he may already be Sabertooth or Hyperion by the time the Mutant Saga does roll around I think he would be awesome as Crusher Creel who has a romance with Jameela's Titania. A very attractive evil couple. (And yes, there WAS a version of Creel in Agents of SHIELD, but it's not really as canon as many of the stans want it to be, so I would prefer a big screen recast here)

Whirlwind - I think Austin Abrams of WEAPONS & the upcoming RESIDENT EVIL would be really fun in the role of Dave, who is a mutant and would serve as a bit of comic relief while also bring power to the team-up.

Moonstone - Elle Fanning. She's great in THE GREAT and most things really. I'd love to see her as the uptightly evil Karla Sofen whose powers rival Captain Marvel's

Screaming Mimi/Songbird - We've already met Mel in THUNDERBOLTS* and I love Geraldine Viswanathan in that and everything she's done. If we saw her break bad in a post-Secret Wars world I think it would be fun and she could add a fun dynamic of a relapsing villain. Also, we could find out that she was given powers by Val at some point.

The Fixer - every team needs an IT guy and I would love to see Damson Idris as the tech genius of the team. He had been fan cast as the new T'Challa but since w now know that's going to be David Jonsson, I think he'd be great in this role.

Who would be on your team and why?

Doom & Stark are two amazing but totally different characters: If they are going to connect these characters in the MCU just so audiences don't freak out over RDJ playing both, what reasons could they use that wouldn't just make both Iron Man & Dr. Doom lesser...?

For my money, they should never address it. Actors act. They famously play different roles over the course of a career.

I personally hate the idea of Tony being a Doom variant or Doom being a Tony variant. I cannot see how that does anything but ruins both characters.

What character or story reason does that serve that doesn't just take away from two separately great characters?

I have yet to hear/see a way they explain it that seems sufficient enough reason to go out of their way to let the audience know about a connection for a character who is masked and has a thick accent HAVING to have a connection to Tony Stark other than the fact that an actor got cast.

What reason would not take away from how cool/what a badass both Tony and or Doom are as their own individual characters?

Yes, there is a What If...? story arc where Tony grew up as a Von Doom but that's a what if story and is DEFINITELY not canon. Again both characters have their own rich histories in the 616.

"Adopted by the Starks" or "Adopted by the Von Dooms" seems lame as hell to me. That's just a total yawn for me.

Any thoughts that might square that circle for me....? Bc right now there is no answer that makes me go "Oh, that's cool!"

Like can't it just be a great actor the studio likes wanting to work together again...?
