So I got these just now, straight from KPrepublic on Amazon. I know they're not a well-regarded seller in some circles but they were the cheapest by far and also had the bonus of being on Amazon to make things go a bit smoother if a problem were to crop up.
(Also despite them being by XIDA and BSUN, from what I can see, you'll very rarely find BSUN's name attached to these. Not sure why.)
These are not the same as the ones you can find reviews for online! You can tell the difference by looking for the Usagi face as a light diffusion panel. These have got to be the cutest switches around, especially for apparently being a Chiikawa collaboration. No actual switch with Chiikawa or Hachiware on them though, I wonder why. Also no information on these things anywhere, either. Like no official retailer or anything, it's just there on some switch seller sites and on KDrepublic's page on Amazon.
All the pics of these switches that you can find online show the rabbit faces being south-facing. That's only true if your keyboard lighting is south-facing, you'll get normal north-facing whatever that you can't look at with transparent keycaps on any average keyboard. Here is what you'll see in use, and here are the bunny faces in action. They actually do show up very well and it's super cute, but impossible to show properly. The light diffusion is great.
These switches feel amazing to use. I've got some chunky keycaps on at the moment (for those interested), and it feels like I'm typing on air. Like there's nothing there. Like, no joke, I should have gotten these switches from the get go, because this is what I imagined a mechanical keyboard would feel like before I used one before. I'd always been looking for a lighter switch, and this one fits the bill so well. I'm definitely not sure how else to describe my experience with them other than I would buy someone these to make them try them.
The sound is also pretty good. With the chunky keycaps and the keyboard choice (Dustsilver D87), there's this very good "thock". It's like the kind of sound you hear on all those cerakey typing tests. It's insanely wild to be getting that kind of sound with keys like this. And with other keycaps, of course, the sound is almost equivalent to what you'd be getting out of a low profile keyboard. Not a silent keyboard at all by any means but it's also not really too intrusively loud either. Just not something you'd take to the library to type with. Typing on it almost sounds to me like dice rolling, especially the specific dice rolling sound you hear in video games. It's such a cool sound.
All in all, I really enjoy these switches.
I'd give them a 10/10 in all aspects, honestly.
