Can someone do the geometry work for me?
I can't test anything because it's either sold out or the LBS can speciality order but I'm basically locked in.
I have: a trek checkpoint sl5 GEN3 XS
I want: A surly. Please don't suggest Soma etc.
Problem: checkpoint is too long (reach), too aggressive
Considering: Bridge club conversion to drop bar. Midnight special? Thinking MS 40cm build. Suggestions?
Calling all shorties- Any 40cm midnight specials in lilac or black around?
Looking for frame only mostly. FB marketplace/pinkbike/ebay with no luck. Thanks.
Surly geometry question
Hi!
I currently ride a trek checkpoint sl5 gen 3 AXS in XS and it whips. However, I've always felt it a bit too aggressive with too long of reach for me. Also, due to some unforeseen events coming up, I am selling.
I'm looking at a replacement that will be more relaxed/upright/less aggressive. Pretty dead-set on a Surly. When I look at 99spokes geometry against my current bike, a Straggler, and MS it places the Straggler as 'most aggressive feel in rider position' and the stack reach ratio is the lowest. But it also has the smallest wheelbase with the MS marketed as their aggressive road bike. Is it just all marketing? I do realize I have to try before buy, but as you all know it is a challenge getting smaller sizing in the shop before they pressure you to lock in.
Should I be looking at another geo site? Or another bike in their lineup? Thanks.
Droppers on Bridge club?
Wondering how it will change the geometry when adding droppers on bridge club?
Any sources for whipped butter in XS? FB marketplace is slim-pickings. Thanks!
Possible lowside build q
Looking to get a medium lowside. Bike shop can only get the pink and blue complete build in. Does anyone know why the blue is so much more money other than tire size?
I could purchase the orange frame online but the shop said it would be a lot more money to build frame up. I would attempt it but I have no tools. Also, how expensive or difficult would it be to add gearing?
Replacement bike for husband?
Hi! Local bike shop sells Surly and it will be my next bike most likely (separate post) but right now I'm researching a bike to replace his Trek Marlin mtb.
Soooo the problem is he's got balance issues. Trek sold him a mtb and he ended up hating it. This sadly causes him to never ride- saying his feet can't touch the ground and it's unwieldily. He misses his old BMX bike when he was a kid.
I'm thinking a Surly low side, with a cut seat post and sized down to a medium? The top tube seems nice and low. (He's 5'8").
However, I found a comment here saying the low side frame is too forward with a long wheelbase. Should I be looking toward a semi- traditional bmx bike?
This will mostly be a neighborhood bike, but maybe some small loose gravel on a river trail in time. Thanks so much!!!!
Double checking, do people still not prefer Culligan/Zerowater?
I'm specifically trying to remove PFAS/PFOA from my drinking water. I'm looking specifically at Culligan glass countertop dispenser (to minimize plastic). I know most people use a RO system, but I'm moving soon so I don't want anything piped in. Thoughts?
Do the everyday frypans burn your hands?
I'm looking at D3 everyday and I saw a post about the handle burning someone's hand. Just looking if this is a common experience? I'm interested in this model more because it's supposed to be so much lighter. Thanks.
TL;DR: Honda Civic Hybrid Hatch or Lexus UX?
I used to have a 2009 Honda Civic coupe that I LOVED but got a job where I need to be physically present in all weather. I had winter tires on the civic but I got massively stuck once and it was only due to lack of ground clearance. Traded it for a Subaru Crosstrek (which has treated me well) but it's loud AF, and I'm overly the wobbly floaty feeling, especially on turns.
I like how the UX seems more polished, increased mpg, and tight maneuverability. I'm aware of the tiny interior space and cargo area.
Either way, I'm interested in better fuel economy, and reliability. Very nervous about the lack of ground clearance in both regards. Thanks!
Looking for a Demi gloss to apply at home to save some money and to cover bleached highlights and some greys. Dark brown with NO RED if that helps. Looking at Kristen Ess from target but there's also Xmondo vs dphue vs wella color charm etc. Thanks.
