Baby marmot tries to stop parents from fighting
KitchenAid Washer & Dryer
My aunt's solid KichenAid washer & dryer. Bought ~mid/late 80s I believe.
Best Taco Tuesday deals?
Looking for Taco Tuesday recommendations. The only thing I have found in my short time here is the deal at Tres Hombres Cantina in Sparks by Scheels. It's $14.99 AYCE crunchy tacos and they are hefty ones. Looking for good quality tacos (not full of fillers) in Reno that are either cheap and good or pricier but worth it.
Ususpend lapsing question
I'm still getting used to the Ususpend feature. This book says I have 63 days before it lapses, I'm assuming this means it will be a year since I placed on suspend status in 63 days rstger than the year from original hold. If I unsuspend and it says "available soon", can I put it back in suspend for another year? I will be ready to borrow it before the 63, days just don't want to forget as I go through my TBR list. I actually hadn't been checking my holds.
Where to find these liquid medication dispensers?
I need more of these as the ones I have reused and sterilized for my cats are too stained and dirty looking. I used to get them at a pharmacy in Santa Cruz for 25 cents each. Amazon has like 4 for $12, so no, don't suggest Amazon unless you have a link for something in my 25 cent price range.
I won't use the typical ones with thick rubber plungers as they get stuck and then basically spray the medication everywhere but my cats mouths. These have a nice rubber ring that slides smoothly without wasting medication and causing a mess.
I've called local pharmacies, but no matter how many times I tell them it's a medication dispenser WITHOUT a needle, they tell me any syringes must be dispensed with a prescription for syringes and show a prescription for medications that are administered via syringe. I even tell them that it is to dispense liquud medication to babies, pets, elderly, or anyone unable to swallow pills. I'm still told to come in with a prescription for syringes.
Experiences with México Express, package shipping to México in Sparks?
Anyone ship with Paqueteria México Express to México? I haven't used them before. Do things arrive intact, undamagde, an on time? Apparently they have started service out of Sparks.
¿Tienen experiencia con Paqueteria México Express? Parace comenzaron servicio desde Sparks recientemente.¿Llegan las cosas a tiempo, completas, sin daño?
Shoetree Brewery?
What's the story at Shoetree Brewery CC location? Our friend took us there, super excited to introduce us as it's his favorite place for drinks. As soon as me and my spouse (we're brown peeps) walked in, the staff person at the bar asks our (white) friend "Are they with you?" Like we need an escort or guide?
Even our friend was surprised, as I saw a physical startle and he got awkward because he picked up on the undertones. Neither my husband and I are ultra sensitive to crap, so I jist glared at the staff person and turned my back to find a seat. My poor friend stumbled his words and said, "Yeah, they're with me." The rest of the interaction with questions from us about beer menu came off brusque and dismissive.
We looked around, and there were no persons of color besides us. None of us in our group are liberal snowflakes. I'm just genuinely curious if this is a business that prefers other clients, not us.
We've been here about 4 months and have had nothing but amazing, kind, friendly, cool interactions at the many restaurants and businesses in CC and Reno. It took me and my husband aback. We definitely were made to feel unwelcome like we crossed some invisible line. And we know we didn't imagine it based on our embarrassed friends reaction.
Curt Smith and Rob Thomas
Loved the Curt Smith appearance and nod/smack talk to Rob Thomas. I'm a huge fan of both artists. Alas, can't post on either the Matchbox 20 or Rob Thomas reddit as only approved redditors can post. And when you request to post, crickets indefinitely.
(S8E9, A Nightmare on State Street)
Confused between S7 and S8
I watched the show when it first aired (weekly on TV), so maybe that's what's caus8ng my confusion on my streaming binge watch.
The continuity seems off. S7E14 is when Chief Vick is put on 6 months leave, Lassie is demoted, and Shawn and Gus are fired as consultants. But then the 2 part musical episodes (S7E15 & 16) have everyone back in their prior positions. And then S8E2 starts out with a recap if previously on recap of S7E14.
Why the back and forth?
Thank you, a Player Named Gus
I have been wracking my brain and every device and apps to search for an instrumental song from the 80s for almost 10 years now. The song was pretty trendy as background music for intimate scenes on soap operas.
All the humming and descriptions I could come up with about the clock tick took sound, bells, and whisper voices got me nowhere.
I had pretty much given up, figuring I'd someday hear it in an elevator, department store, doctor's office, or grocery store. My jaw dropped when Gus was being smooth chocolate to Art of Noise's "Moments in Love."
Psych for the win, and I shouldn't be surprised.
Food Preservation classes?
I'm looking for a hands on food Preserver program to learn about canning, fermenting...pretty much any and all food preservation processes. I can't take the one from University of California (online hybrid) since I don't live in that state.
I saw UNR has had a program in the past, but don't see anything recent or scheduled for the future. Anyone know of any such programs via community centers, programs, private companies/businesses? Even one off classes?
Loved seeing Jaleel White (and Keenan Thompson) as guests on Psych (S4E7, High Top Fade Out). They were an acapella group in college with Dule Hill in the Psych world.
*no clue why autocorrect keeps making Jaleel into "Jameel" in the title
The look Milena Govich's (Law & Order cast previously) Miss Conrad gives Shawn. I like the dig/references the writers sneak in. Arsesassin? Nice one.
It's also great to see actors from other shows I enjoy and enjoyed at the time of original airing. Good to see Bruce McGill from Rizzoli and Isles, even though it was almost 2 years before R&I aired.
Just watched "Lights, Camera...Homicidio" (S2E13) and I LOVE they did a Spanish version of the theme song. AND they actually used proper Spanish words to fit the original lyrics and for it to carry the same meaning.
I know the Psych team does things right, but this completely 💯 shows how thorough and attentive to detail they are. Also, I enjoyed watching James Roday pretend to butcher Spanish despite him being semi-fluent. As a native speaker, I know how hard it can be to turn thr Spanish switch off and pretend to not speak it (in certain settings, for safety, it has been better to pretend I don't speak it).
Doing my binge watch after only watching the show when it originally aired. Loving and appreciating it so much more. I was reminded of Gus being told he looks like "Bud" from The Cosby Show (S1e15, Scary Sherry). So I looked up who played Gus....OMG, I am rolling in my recliner. He DOES look like Bud!!!!!!!
Oh, and the many double entendres in every episode that are funny still, even if they might not fly in today's society.
