Suggestions on how you would do the smoke from this?

I posted this some time ago as a joke but I've actually learned how to do almost everything here since then, except for the smoke.

How would you guys do it, do you think it was done in Blender at all? One suggestion was a moving transparent gradient which might work for the bottom left smoke patch but it doesn't look to me as if that was the technique used for the rest of it unless I am misunderstanding something.

"Your Lyrics Contain Copyrighted Material"

Seriously, Suno seems like it is not a serious project anymore. Not being able to upload original material for months was bad enough, but now when I try to generate new versions of my own original material that was created previously, I get a message that says it can't do it because "Your lyrics contain copyrighted material." Aside from this not being true, the thing I am trying to regenerate is an instrumental section with no lyrics in it.

Following the court case in Germany, it doesn't seem like Suno is intending to deliver us a product anymore. There is tons of seemingly AI-generated hype, people claiming they struck it rich with AI music but actual users don't seem able to do anything and the tech support doesn't respond besides to say that they have a no refunds policy. Meanwhile, they claim billion-dollar valuations and so-on. It's really messed up stuff.

Still waiting on the successful art project that leads with AI

Let me say up front that I don't consider myself to be pro or anti-AI. I just accept it for what it is.

With that said, to my knowledge, there is still no successful art project that leads with AI.

You may not be able to tell when a single image or 3D model was made with AI with a perfect success rate anymore, but use it as your main art source in a larger project and no one will find that project interesting.

AI music may sound good at first (if you don't have access to a good sound system or trained ears) but there's very little variation from verse to chorus. Unless it was jumping on a popular event or claiming to be Drake or something, there doesn't appear to be AI music that is popular with human beings out there. Most people won't even listen to it. Just go to the Suno subreddit. Like half the threads are like "my music is awesome it can't be telled apart by humans so why does literally no one listen to it?" I'm not trying to hate but these guys are tone deaf if they think that no one can tell.

Novels? Don't be ridiculous. Perhaps more than any other art form, the placement of every word matters. There's nuances like foreshadowing, setup, pacing etc. There is no agreed upon method for doing any of that stuff and styles are arguably even more varied than art and music, so you can't just request a style like you can with other AI art programs. Case in point, even though text is the easiest thing to produce with AI, there is no startup you hear about that is producing AI novels, short stories etc.

OK, maybe my tone is a little flippant, but I'm honestly curious about this. When I ask people to show me the project that shows that AI is competitive with humans in this area, they either go silent or mention (usually not even a link) something with like 800 views. The truth is that AI just hasn't got "it" whatever it is. If it does, show me the project. I am genuinely interested in seeing it.

Clip Studio Paint vs Krita for clean line work?

I've been learning digital art programs lately and have spent a lot of time on the different line stabilization methods and the brush designer in my app of choice for now, Krita.

So I had a weird experience lately where I was looking at a line art online and I was like "this was drawn in Krita" and I checked. Lo and behold, it was. I had apparently reached a point where I could tell by looking. But this got me thinking and I started doing some research. Apparently, line art in Krita tends towards some distinct looks and Clip Studio Paint's line art is considered to be superior for some styles. But like, how superior? Does anyone have examples or opinions? Thank you :)

How do they not have a feature to change song and instrument volume separately

Just feeling really underwhelmed with this app. There's no option to change the song and instrument (MIDI keyboard in this case) volume separately. You also can't make the song pause as you play for a lot of the entries, which is a problem when the song doesn't match the original music to begin with.

I'm developing a theory on why AI can't imitate the best artists.

Slightly tangential story, I tried coloring someone's art with AI recently (they released an uncolored sketch) and they just FREAKED OUT, they were literally like "oh my God why is this happening to me" etc.

Meanwhile, one of my favorite artists tried AI art, didn't like it (it just wasn't like his work), got bored of it and went back to normal drawing. Zero drama, he was just like "haha these look kind of like me check it out".

So I started doing research on why AI struggles to imitate the best / most unique artists. It comes down to two major issues: line weight and deliberate inconsistencies.

Regarding line weight, AI constitutes images statistically to create things that look like lines. This results in a lot of similar line weights. After that, denoising algorithms further make lines more similar to each other (these basically have to be run to clean a drawing up). The end result is you get clean lines but they're also very similar to each other.

You can (ironically as usual) ask AI for more details if you want, it gets very complicated, but the phenomenon is arguably not completely removable, which means that line weight details is one of the areas where human artists remain relevant.

The second, related but even more nuanced issue is deliberate inconsistencies. When a human artist makes a mistake, he can incorporate it into the character of a drawing, or he can deliberately make "mistakes" to generate a unique vibe. While some AI researchers are trying to incorporate randomizers into their AIs to help emulate this (and sometimes also to help with line weights), to make a drawing work with such things you basically need to tweak the entire drawing around it. It could be decades before AI can give fine enough granular control over this to compete with human artists, if it ever does (the compute power required would be huge). This is because the AI would basically, with current methods anyway, need to constantly regenerate the drawing as you change this or that, and changing one thing might throw other things off or cause them to change in ways you don't like, leading to even more generations etc.

In conclusion, I'm wondering what you guys think. It may be possible to "compete" with AI art by leveraging these areas, although entire styles exist where it's impossible to compete with it in a time efficient way.

Lastly, some of this applies to AI music (e.g., the models are trained on heavily compressed sounds) too. Similar issues, if not exactly the same.

Anyone played a TOD100N?

Not trying to hate, I'm def. a fan, but I was really underwhelmed by the TOD10N and cancelled my order after playing one at a guitar center. I feel like someone must have agreed with me that it wasn't measuring up to the (relatively narrow) competition in this area because now they're releasing a new upgraded version. Having not learned my lesson, I want one of those now. Has anyone here played one yet? How does it improve or iterate upon the 10N?

Is it just me or is the "can't upload" problem back again

I was able to upload for a couple days there but now my piano reductions are being rejected as copyrighted again. Sad!
