I flew to visit my boyfriend, and I knew he liked video games, but I had no idea how serious it actually was. I didn’t realize it might be more like an addiction.
We had a serious conversation about it, and while I was there, he tried not to play every day in front of me. But the moment his online friends invited him, he completely changed. It’s like something switches in him.
The last time really shocked me. He literally told me to go to sleep, trying to hide the fact that he wanted to stay up all night playing. I went to bed, but woke up around 2am because he was shouting loudly in his room while gaming.
I asked him to stop because it was late and we both had a long day. But the look in his eyes… I can’t even explain it. It was honestly scary. He looked completely consumed, like he couldn’t stop. He got aggressive and actually kicked me out of the room just so he could keep playing.
And it didn’t end there. About an hour later, he came out and started a fight with me. He called me “toxic” just because I was concerned about him. He said it’s his hobby, he’s not going to change, and I should just accept it.
The next day, I packed my suitcase, bought the first (very expensive) ticket I could find, and flew back home.
I feel like I just saw a completely different side of him, and it honestly scared me.
Would you stay in a relationship like this?
