If an artist of a political persuasion antithetical to their respective regime, how do things like pen names work? If I write a book called “How to Start a DSA Chapter in Your Hood” and sign off as Lenny Libtard, do I need an LLC for someone to write me, Lenny Libtard a check and cash it?
Do phone bills allow aliases? I’m asking all of this for a friend in the name of art. If there is a better place to discuss this please let me know. I didn’t get any responses on my Venmo question here yesterday. But I know there has to be thousands of us either with experience or considering some of the same questions.
I have a friend who has their Venmo link on an activist art page on Instagram. Half the funds go to funding her art, half go to her local DSA chapter.
How much opsec can be done here? Setup a business Venmo (instructed on their website, you don’t need an LLC just self report taxes). But I wanted to see what you guys think. I know lots of local progressive orgs but I’ve never been a treasurer. Is Venmo and the IRS still happy in 2026 as long as everyone follows the rules and pays taxes? Or do we also take a grain of caution understanding all progressive artists are taking a small risk these days

For the 2nd time in 6 months, I found my fine piece of hardware unable to connect to the internet after a forced Windows update. I am “connected” to my router, but no internet. Same thing if I hardline with an ethernet cable. Even tried to use my phone’s hotspot.
Last time this happened, I flushed the DNS and I think that had worked. I’ve reset the router and PC and the network adapter. Rolled back several Windows updates and the one allowed network driver rollback. Used the feature in Win11 that allows you to “reset the network”.
My old Debian back up and phone or connecting to wifi fine. I was ready to try the media creation tool and re-install windows but I guess that doesn’t work without a connection either. What a world.

I’ve seen disputing claims about on how the artifact respawn timer works in Clear Sky. Some say it is 4 hours (2 dats in game) on the dot, others say 4.8 hours and you must not reload a save or exit the area. And that last part is what I’m worried about.
I have just about waited 2 full in game days in Yantar and the and the anomaly in the Oblivion claws looking thing up the hill West of the Scientist’s base has yet to respawn, nor have the others when I checked. However, I have saved and reloaded a few times as well ss tried leaving the map and coming back.
Hip hop has always been a sample heavy genre, but from memory the soul heavy sampling didn’t really hit its stride until the early 2000s with Dipset and K**ye, before Three 6 Mafia started dabbling in some Willie Hutch samples themselves. Are there some examples of earlier soul samples or even gospel choir/song samples being heavily used before then? It seems like G Funk sampled funk, Tribe sampled more Jazzy tunes, and NY focused on darker grittier samples in the 90s even when they did sample a soul song like Tearz by Wu Tang.
I have a Sunrise suit upgraded as far as I can with 5 artifact slots. I know there are suits with better bullet protection, but is there a suit I should be looking out for that has better protection and can be upgraded to 5 artifact slots?
I had a secondary mission to find a muzzle break flash drive for Gray in the Swamps. My map only ever highlighted Gray himself with the yellow mission icon, it didn’t point to a stash elsewhere on the map.
I can’t trigger anymore missions (besides paying for stashes, the contents of which I the giver doesn’t know) so I move on to Cordon. I received a secondary mission from the technician Van to find a flashdrive.
My PDA map is still pointing to Gray in the Swamps. I now have 3 active flash drive missions, and the only hint I have to get them is to to talk to Gray. When I talked to him before leaving the Swamps, I could not trigger any additional dialogue. Is this a bug? Or do I need to find the flash drives without a map marker? I still don’t know why Van’s quest from Cordon is pointing to Gray in the Swamps.
What is the mission where I will be ambushed by bandits and lost all my cash? Is it the first mission to meet up with Fang given by Sirdovich? I’m still in Cordon and received that mission from him, but am cleaning up a few things before heading to Garbage. After searching this sub it appears that bandits will try to take my stuff, but its not a scripted cut scene and I can run past them. Will I cross another vendor I can sell things to before the big ambush? I’m trying to find a good armor to spend my money on before losing it all. I only have 12000 right now and the cs1 suit or whatever Clear Sky gives you in Swamps.
I really like these games and the atmospheres, but they’re also a bit stressful at the same time. It took all I had in me to get to the end of SoC and I still pussed out on the last or second to last mission, the tension was too much for me. I wanted to support the studio so I got HoC on its first sale and played for an hour or two, but I keep retreating back to “safer games” like Kingdom Come Deliverance. I pray that some day I get the balls to truly commit to a play through of STALKER 2, and some day maybe even finish SoC. Again the world is awesome and has some good vibes, just with a hint of stress. Does anyone have any tips for me or am I a hopeless pansy?
I ran across 2 comments within a couple days regarding weather forecasts being off lately. One of those comments was here, another in a non-political sub. I asked both posters and the thread for details but I never got a response.
Now I know that MAGA cut a lot of funding for weather services, and I know their goal is to privatize the NOAA and every other agency under the sun. I just haven’t noticed a difference in weather forecasts personally, and I keep tabs on weather in two locations nearly 1000 miles apart. Though one of those locations happens to be near the largest weather station in the country which was not shut down. Have any of you guys been noticing a drop in forecast accuracy? If so, what have you noticed?
I use a combination of my trusted local weather station for a 7-10 day outlook, The Weather Channel app for day of hourly forecasts, and MyRadar for day of/immediate updates if that helps give context.
Zone 5b/6A seems to depend on the map. I planted several Emerald Aborvitae in a wall formation about 3’ apart and over half of them died. They were 3’ tall when I planted them. If I had the money, I’d just replace the dead ones and try again, but that was a pricey investment for me.
I watered them every day after planting. There are two giant trees about 30 feet away from the closest Avorvitae, so maybe the roots were taking some of the nutrients? Its not like the Aborvitae closest to the big trees were the ones that died, there seemed to be no rhyme or reason for which died and which lived. Now I have a “wall” of short trees where 2/3 are dead.

I figured someone here might be able to point me in a good direction on learning more about state governments and some resources for running for state government. When searching the web or youtube, I get a lot of information for state reps that go to Washington. I’m wanting to learn more about how our state reps work and how to run for local election. Have any of our friends of Cool Zone pod discussed their experiences running for local rep? I know eventually I need to buckle down and read through some .gov resources, but I was wanting to dip my toes in with some “infotainment”, even if its a dry podcast or video, I can handle that.
