Strength training for overweight middle aged unfit people

Have anyone found simple programs or a specific trainer on Apple Fitness+ that doesn’t use equipment?

One that works for someone middle aged, very overweight and just starting out.

I know I can buy equipment but before I start doing that I want to get strength so I don’t injure myself.

If you ever been really overweight and unfit you understand that many (most) training programs created by fit people don’t work. They chose movements I can’t do and many at speed that are impossible.

Are there any tried and tested ones here?

Is there no pen that lasts a month?

Sorry for the dumb question.

If I take 1ml a month and the pen only holds 3ml - I will never get a month out of it. And by the time you’re on 2ml you’ll need 3 pens to make it a month. So $450 a month here in Australia.

Is there no bigger pen or cheaper way to get it. Is it the same for Munjaro which is already more than double that of Ozempic?

Aussies - what’s your experience

How is your experience on GPL1?

I mean not only in as how did you find getting access to it and how much do you pay (don’t get compounding still even through the TGA tried to block it) - which one do you take, what dose and for how long.

But what kind of reaction do you get when you tell people. Or don’t you tell people?

I’ve found a lot of judgment - like I’m just lazy for not trying harder with CISCO even through I’ve tried everything over the last 30 years. The judgment is worse than when I tried keto. Add menopause to that and possible Lipidemia…

I feel like Ozempic is my last hope. I’m on my seventh week and so far no effect - good or bad.

Cost $150 per pen from Chemist Warehouse - it lasts for 4 doses of 0.5 I think (not sure)

I already had the side effects before I started - did you too?

I already have many of the most common side effects before I started. To others that did how did that work for you?

When I’m sleep deprived I get nauseous especially in the morning and as my sleep is atrocious, that’s frequent. I’ve been like this since I was a teenager. Some times it’s so bad it causes vomiting.

I often get really bloated after I eat.

I intermittently get diarrhoea and stomach pain because my stomach can’t tolerate bread and hight fat food. A cheese, may and onion toastie is an example with bad effects.

It makes me wonder how I would know if I have Ozempic side effects or the usual - I’m avoiding bred and fat as much as I can but the rest?

I’ve had almost 2 years of being constant overheating. I’ve been feeling like I was on the surface of the sun. Hot flashes and being cooked alive. I finally got HRT in November.

It made the heat and hot flashes better but I was still hot and had angry PMS.

Now two months in on new HRT. No PMS and it works for the heat - but now I’ve turned into a walking icicle.

All of the sudden I’m so cold that I’m in long pants and uggs sitting under a blanket with a cat him my lap to feel alive again.

What the?

My middle age skin has changed and even if I wasn’t boycotting Estée Lauder, I teased the Double Wear is terrible now - so I need something new.

Which shop has the best products for white skin with redness issues - that used to be really oily but now is drying up. I also overheat and get sweaty.

Mecca, Sephora or a brand I should try?

As per title - what’s the difference between brands?

According to the TGA site these are approved here are:

“The GLP-1 RAs:

1) Ozempic (semaglutide), Trulicity (dulaglutide) and Victoza (liraglutide), which are approved for the management of adults with T2DM.

2) Saxenda (liraglutide) and Wegovy (semaglutide), which are approved for chronic weight management in patients who are obese or overweight.

The dual GIP/GLP-1 RA:

3) Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is approved for both T2DM and chronic weight management.”

They are increasingly expensive* in that order too with Ozempic starting at $150 for one pen.

My GP also says that they are more effective in that order too. But I’ve read many people say that 1 and 2 are exactly the same thing.

*Except if you have diabetes

Due to the price I’ve been reluctant to try it even through the mask has saved my hair.

I’m glad I took the leap. It’s absolutely amazing to me.

I washed it Tuesday, now it’s Thursday and my hair looks freshly washed. Whilst that in itself may not seem amazing - this was after a really long day where I know I touched my hair more than usual. And I also walked 10km yesterday on hilly terrain and (TMI) my scalp / hair got repeatedly drenched in sweaty all day as I overheat a lot.

Normally I would need to wash it today - my usual dry shampoo wouldn’t cut it, but I didn’t today. Instead my hair looks freshly washed. I have no doubt I won’t need to wash it tomorrow either (I’ll report back).

And here’s the bonus - my hair looks a lot thicker!!!

What do you do to ease the nausea?

Do you eat something specific? Do you take medicine, herbs, supplements etc. for it (prescribed or over the counter)?

Bonus points if medicine is available in Australia.
