🚨 URGENT: Two puppies stranded on Highway 20 under the bridge near Lee State Park, Lamar, SC

PLEASE SHARE!!! THESE PUPPIES ARE IN IMMEDIATE DANGER OF BEING HIT.

I’m driving from the beach back to Greenville and came across these two puppies under the bridge at the intersection of Lee State Park Road and Highway 20 in Lamar, SC. They were actively walking around and attempting to cross the highway.

Larger puppy: brindle male, looks like a Lab/Pit mix, wearing a black collar
Smaller puppy: black female, extremely skinny and covered in fleas

Both puppies are VERY friendly. They immediately wanted belly rubs and gave kisses. The male knows “sit” and “down,” so I suspect they may have belonged to someone.

I called 911 multiple times and begged for help. I was told that animal control was not on duty and that they could not assist. I also contacted highway patrol, local rescues, and animal hospitals, but unfortunately could not get anyone to come out.

I was told by 911 to leave them where I found them and drive away. I called three times! I was crying on the phone and they didn’t care.

I stayed with these babies for over an hour, crying and desperately trying to find someone who could help. I gave them food and water, and they drank about a liter of water between them. They were absolutely desperate for it. The little black female is far too skinny.

I have multiple dogs with me already, including my two rescue dogs and a puppy, and I drive a very small car. I physically had no safe way to transport two additional dogs. I wish more than anything that I could have taken them with me.

I have now had to leave because I had exhausted every option I could think of. Leaving them there was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. I am sitting in my car sobbing as I write this because I cannot stop thinking about them.

These are young, incredibly sweet, friendly puppies who deserve to be safe. They are literally at risk of becoming roadkill or causing a serious accident if they continue wandering onto Highway 20.

LOCATION: Under the bridge at the intersection of Lee State Park Road & Highway 20, Lamar, SC

IS ANYONE NEAR THIS AREA WHO CAN GO GET THEM?

Does anyone know a rescue, foster, animal control officer, or volunteer who can help?

Please, please share this. They need someone to physically go get them ASAP. I will provide any additional information I have and will help however I can from Greenville.

I just need to know that these babies are safe.

Name ideas?

Need help naming my Shih Tzus future brother!

I am getting my first show prospect, and first WB/PB (ethically bred) dog in 4 weeks and need help naming. I currently have two dogs, both Shih Tzu rescues. Need help with a boy name!

We aren’t sure which one will be ours yet, but my personal preference is for the smaller black tri.

My other dogs names are “Hari” (Indian name meaning godly/holy), and “Panda-Bear” (who his previous owners named and I just kept it). Panda suits him well! He’s lazy, rolls around, just wants to eat food but I hate the name lol. It’s so basic.

I am Indian and Iranian, while my fiance is white. He’s okay with an Indian/iranian name as long as it’s easy to pronounce. People really struggle with “Hari” (I’m told I pronounce the R like a D sound). I think especially if it’s a show dog, the name should be easy to pronounce. I also like the idea of a name that pays homage to America as the puppy is a Miniature American Sheppard. I just don’t want anything that’s too basic. I don’t think Hari and Panda match but something that rolls off the tongue when I call all three would be nice haha.

Current names on my list:
-Rudy
-Denali
-Taaj (Indian)
-Blake/Blain
-Dara (Persian)
-Jasper
-Aryan (Persian/indian)
-omi (Indian)
-Kennedy
-thatcher
-Bennett
-Carlisle
-Nima (Persian)

Any ideas? Anything to veto?

Shih Tzu tries dog sports!

His first time trying dock diving! He did eventually jump off the ledge (instead of ramp) but I didn’t get a video. He loved it!! We are also going to try barnhunt in the fall.

Hari is a 1/2 shih tzu rescue that I adopted when I was 19. He’s 6 now and still has the energy of a puppy. I’m getting a mini American Sheppard in a couple weeks who will definitely need sports so I took my older dog with me to try it out and to my surprise he loved it !!! Maybe we will have to start competing!

jack jack update !!

Everyone loves to see jack jack updates so I thought I would share. This is jack jack with his father (the husband of dog trainer who adopted him)! You can hear his mom laughing in the video. They love him so much and are exactly the perfect balance of structure and love that he needs!! I always said he needs a big dog owner lol, he was quite the spicy boy. He joined their pack & bosses around their Belgian malinois, and their 2 Great Danes. He also works as a demo dog with her at her dog training business. She takes him on hikes, road trips, swimming, he’s living the best life.

He is thriving and is just the most amazing home!! I can’t believe how he went from a completely aggressive nervous dog to this! I officially transferred ownership to his mom today (even though he’s been with them for weeks lol)! Thanks again to everyone who donated and help make it happen.

Adding a third dog?

I have two little “Shih Tzus” (they are mutts and only about 1/2 Shih Tzu) rescues that are my entire life! The older one is 6 (white), and the younger one (black and white) is 3. I adopted the 6-year-old when he was 1 year old from a shelter in Myrtle Beach, and the younger one was originally purchased from Craigslist by my loser ex-boyfriend. But when he was neglecting his dog, I broke up with him and took the dog.

They are not bonded (they’re not anxious when separated), but they definitely enjoy each other’s company! They snuggle, sleep, play, lick, and hang out together. There are absolutely no issues between them (no resource guarding, and they have never fought). However, my younger boy has some pain/illnesses and is way more of a lazy bum than my older dog. My older dog has a very high-drive personality. Even at age 6, he wants to play fetch 24/7 and chase birds and bunnies, whereas the younger dog just wants to sleep. They do both enjoy hiking! They also wrestle/play for about 15 minutes a night.

I am considering adding a third dog! I’m a dog groomer, and I am actually applying to vet school this summer, so I’m not too worried financially about adding a third dog, but I’m worried about the shift. Currently, they have NO issues with each other. My life is peaceful. I can walk them both, I take them to TJ Maxx, we travel all across the country, and our friends who we travel to see don’t care if we bring them because they’re small and don’t shed. They coexist well and fit our lifestyle very well.

I’m not sure why I’m having puppy fever, but I have an opportunity to get a new puppy who is from an ethical breeder. We are looking at the breed: Miniature American Shepherd. It will be slightly larger than our Shih Tzus. Our boys are around 15 lbs, and this dog will be around 25–30 lbs. This breeder is extremely ethical: they show their dogs in AKC, they are temperament tested, fully health tested (CHIC/OFA/genetic testing on mom and dad), and the mom and dad are of excellent temperament! The plan is to get a show-quality dog and learn how to show dogs! I think it’s a hobby I would really enjoy, and I think it would be great for my future career as a veterinarian. I also think a puppy would be good for my older dog, who would love a more energetic playmate. When I get into vet school, my fiancé and I will be buying a house with a yard (currently in an apartment), so physical space is also not an issue.

I am just nervous about adding a third dog. The breeder is going to match us with a dog who is what we are looking for, likely a chiller but still playful female. There’s a chance that with this litter we won’t even get a dog if there isn’t one who is a great fit. I don’t board my dogs—they go everywhere with us. We just drove from South Carolina to Michigan for July 4th and just threw the dogs in their car seat and they did great for the 10 hour drive. They are so chill and flexible and I love that!! I’m mostly worried about not being able to bring three dogs versus two with us. Getting a second dog was absolutely amazing! It actually made my life easier! But I feel like going from two dogs to three dogs might make things tougher. I’m also worried about the bond my two boys have and whether it would ruin things. Has anyone added a third dog to their pack? How do you like it? Pros and cons? Luckily with our breeder being ethical, we can always return the dog back if it’s not a great fit, but obviously that’s not something I’d want to do. Thank you!!!

Help me decide my reception look!

I am getting married in may! I am half Indian half Persian, my fiance is white (American). Persians get married in a white dress, but tbh I don’t feel very Persian lol. I’m Hindu, I speak Hindi, my mom raised us pretty Indian.

Originally we were going to have a Hindu ceremony + reception and then a small intimate white person wedding with my close family and his, but we are so tight in our budget it’s no longer possible.

I had purchased this white dress that I absolutely love for my American ceremony and this sparkly lengha for my reception (slide 3), but now I’m considering wearing my American dress for my reception. Is this weird? What are your thoughts on this? Most of our guests, even American ones will be wearing Indian attire.

My wedding lengha is the last slide. Not the biggest fan of my wedding lengha, but I LOVE my white dress lol.

Another option would be to have an elopement in my white dress (just my fiance and I exchanging private vows + photographer) in the white dress and then wearing the sparkly one to reception.

Last option is red lengha for ceremony, white dress for cocktail hour + dinner, and then changing to the sparkly lengha for the dance portion of the reception.

I am a kathak dancer and am planning to do kathak at my wedding, so I feel like I should wear a lengha for that part. Very confused.

Ceremony/cocktail hour downtown Mooresville

Hi everyone!

My fiancé and I are getting married in Mooresville next summer, and we’re looking for a non-church ceremony space in or near downtown Mooresville. We’d love any recommendations you may have!

We’re also considering hosting our cocktail hour at a bar in downtown Mooresville before heading to our reception venue. Does anyone know of any bars or breweries downtown that could accommodate a larger group of around 150 guests?

We already have our reception venue secured, so we’re specifically looking for ceremony and cocktail hour options.

Thank you so much for any suggestions!

Update to jack-jack!

I just wanted to post an update to jack! After his planned adopter backed out, jack ended up being adopted by his dog trainer!! He is visiting this week while his family is on vacation and he’s a completely different dog. He’s 99% a normal dog now :) very very rare spicy quirks that his mom is still working with him on.

I’m able to get his leash/harness/collar off without losing a finger, he loves walks, no longer barks at strangers and is also able to be fully integrated with my two shih tzus. He loves to play, and I’ve had him for 4 days and he has not growled or tried to bite. He rolls over for belly rubs, begs for food, and is just doing great. I can’t believe how much work his trainer has done with him, he’s a different dog!! I can play tug of war with him, and rough house!!

Happy ending for jack :) could not do it without all of the donations we got from this sub. He was able to go to his home completely healthy. Last pics are throw backs to how I found him. If you’re in SC, and looking for a dog trainer you can trust, I highly recommend Val with guiding canines. I just can’t believe it.

Hate my bridal lengha 😬hype me up please

I live in America and my fiance is white, so we are having a white dress ceremony and a Hindu one. I just purchased my white dress (slide 2) and love it! But I ordered my lengha from India (without trying it on) and I just don’t feel the sparks lol. I like how the netting of the lengha sort of matches the net on my white dress, but it’s just not what I thought it would look like. It was way too expensive, I can’t return it and I have no money to buy another lengha. What are your thoughts? I’m thinking I’ll stick with it, and maybe get another lengha for the reception? I’m not sure what I don’t like about it. I wanted very traditional “jodha akbar”/heirloom vibes, maybe I’ll like it more work jewelry? The lengha is by angad Singh. The blouse was made way too small so a new one it’s on the way.

Help me chose!

**update** I chose dress 3! You can see the update here.

I’m Indian, to me, my wedding dress is my bright red lengha, but my fiance is white so I am purchasing a white dress for a short church ceremony before my Hindu ceremony. That being said, I need help picking a dress! Every dress is 699, but the sale ends tomorrow. These are my contenders.

Four dresses!

Slide 1+ 2: poofy ball gown with long trail

Slide 3 +4: form fitting lace, also ignore the back butt crack, it went away then they rolled out my fat 😅

Slide 5 + 6 +7: less form fitting, longer trail

Slide 8 +9: “gatsby” dress, very much so my style but it doesn’t feel like a wedding dress

I really cannot decide! Please ignore my face lol, I liked them all but was very tired. Thank you !!!

Engagement photos !

We just had our engagement photos done, and I’m obsessed!! I’m half Indian and really wanted some photos in a lengha. Outfits are from lashkara and my other dress is fashion nova.

u/Chotuchigg — 3 months ago

Everyone told me to pick this dress for my engagement photos, but I felt like it was so unflattering and didn’t feel great in it. I kept trying dresses on, and now my photos are in a week. I ended up taking a trip to the craft store and sewed on sleeves to my dress and now I love it!! I also made a little scarf to go with the dress. Excuse my sewing, my only experience is from sewing point shoes for ballet when I was a teenager haha. What do you yall think?

First lengha is my wedding lengha. I wanted a different one, but it went off sale and my family didn’t love the color. I do like the one I ordered, but im also having mixed feelings.

I feel like I wanted to add a pop of color, so I asked if I could make the second dupatta a different color. The swatches are the options for the dupatta. The designer is suggesting shade 135 (photo 6 with blue check mark), my family is wanting shade 136. I kinda like the idea of orange (like slide 8) or blue (like slide 7) , but my family says no lol. I feel like the gold or light color will wash me out.

I’ve included inspo photos. I just can’t decide! I also don’t know if I should just pick red and stay classic. Last photo is what I look like to get an idea of skin tone/features. I’m located in the US, so I can’t try stuff on unfortunately.
