The Flag is Finished!

The Vaush Pride flag is finally finished! This was at least a week of work, but I think it's come out pretty good. There are definitely quite a few mistakes on it, the outline sewing around the Joker's hair is especially bad, but I think overall I did a good job with it.

It's fully double sided, and made of 100% cotton, meaning it's actually ironable.

The hardest part was definitely lining up the chevron half with the joker half, and sewing those 2 together without any cupping or bowing in the center where that point is. I think there is still a tiny bit, if you try and completely lay it out flat, but it's not too bad.

Small bit of self promo - I do also accept commissions for other custom flags! Or if you just wanna donate to me, I also have a KoFi

I wanted to share more of my flag sewing since people seemed interested last time!

All of these are 100% cotton (except the headings on the newer ones which is linen), sewn by me on my machine :)

PS: The last flag is Alagadda, from the SCP Wiki.

A very well timed commission.

I sew cotton flags, and someone commissioned me to make a Netherlands flag, that I finished yesterday.

Fully Sewn American Flag!

This flag was fully sewn by me on my home sewing machine. It's final dimensions are 140cm by 72 cm (I lost a little bit of the height in the stripe seams).

I have been sewing flags like this for almost 2 months, ever since seeing Chris Flags’ videos on YouTube. I mainly do pride flags, but occasionally I make ones for country flags too to see if I can do it :)

It is made of 100% cotton, both the fabric and the thread.

The stars were an absolute nightmare, and the end result is not the cleanest but I'm happy with it as a first time sewing them.

Edit: For my process, I followed this video for the most part, with the only main difference being the stars. I straight stitched them on, then cut them out, and THEN zigzag stitched around the raw edges. https://youtu.be/Lw-od1BW22c?is=FwFleAE8cZVO2-JX

Edit: I also just realised I posted the uncropped version of image 5, I didn’t mean for the rest of the bed to be visible, it’s just the biggest flat space I had 😅

Sewn Trans Flag!

I tried a new fabric, Poplin, because it came in much brighter colours than my usual cotton supplier, and this came out really vibrant! It’s a tad more expensive so I might not switch to it for every flag, and it only comes in meter wide selvage so I couldn’t make my larger flags to begin with, but for smaller ones like this it was really nice to work with :)

Fully Sewn Union Jack!

Fully sewn out of 100% cotton. This is the flag that I was too scared to attempt when I first started over a month ago because of the angles and alignment, that I now believe I'm skilled enough to make, and I think it turned out really well!

My Fully Sewn Flags are now for Sale! Details Below.

I've gotten a lot of positive responses to my last few posts about the flags I've been sewing over the last month and a half, as well as a lot of people asking where they can buy them. Well, I now have an Etsy page where you can buy any of the flags I've already made, or request a custom one! You can also message me directly through Reddit, or through my email at jack@bigredj.com

The flags are made of 100% cotton in plain weave or poplin, and come out to around 75x125cm or closest to it based on the ratio of the flag.

The price will vary based on the complexity of the flag, for example a 5 stripe pride flag would be £75, and a Union Jack would be £200, excluding shipping. I'm in the UK so shipping within the UK is much easier. I cannot guarantee that any given flag will be within my skill level - anything with a symbol or emblem is likely to be beyond what I can currently do unfortunately. My machine doesn't have Chris Flags' tight zigzag stitch.

Thank you all for your responses to this new skill I've been developing, and I hope to continue getting even better at it!

Fully Sewn Union Flag

This is definitely the hardest flag I've made so far. It needed 32 pattern pieces in 12 unique shapes. It was the first video I saw from Chris Flags who first inspired me to start making these, but it was definitely outside of my skill level until now. I'm really happy with the final result. It’s 75x150cm.

PS: I definitely need somewhere better to photograph these flags...

I bought a sewing machine a month ago and decided to learn how to sew flags, this is my progress.

I was inspired by a YouTuber named Chris Flags to start this.

The trans flag was my first flag, and the flag of Basque is my most recent. The orange/red/grey/black one with diamonds is FleshThatAnimates’ design for Alagadda from the SCP wiki.

Edit: Okay it didn’t add the Basque photo to the gallery when posting and I don’t think I can edit the photos, so the Palestine flag is the most recent one here lol.

AM 3D Model!

The inspiration was partly the bird design I've seen around a lot, mixed with a military general and a plague doctor for the clothes.

Is there a canonical design for the Tow Ship?

All we see of it is a glimpse of the front and back of the hangar, and the doors opening, did they design what the ship itself looked like?

Any Advice for Optimsing this Pool Tile Generator?

I know it looks over-complicated but I wanted to make physical tiles for close-up shots of them, in poolrooms renders. They fade off after a distance to flat texture versions, and have camera culling.

Basically this turns the mesh into separate flat faces, generates a grid on them, instances a tile to them and booleans them down to the shape of the original faces.

Does anyone have any ideas for making this work faster?

Thanks!

PS: Here's a clearer shot of the full stack.

Can anyone help me find what slaughter map this is from?

Hey! So I vividly remember a part of a doom slaughter map and I cannot find it anywhere. I thought it was a part of Okuplok or Profane Promiseland but I can't find anything like it in those.

It was like a cave, with a layered section in the middle that you start on and go down to the bottom, where where were either green or lava rivers around it, and there was an alcove section with ammo and stuff.

Update: Poster frame arrived and completely covers the problems with the edges :)

The black poster and plexiglass basically make this a mirror lmao

My poster arrived!

My bones poster has just arrived :) There's some denting all the way along both long sides of the poster though... it should be covered by the edges of a poster frame maybe?
