Is there an easy way to connect a TGFX controller?

I want to play Bonk's Adventure, and I know I need the turbo button. I tried the turbo setting in OpenEmu, it doesn't really work very well.

I've looked at old controllers and retro controllers, but the adapters are pricey, and difficult to read what all I need.

Are there any wireless ones? Because I have a Mac, and found out last night wired connections cause openemu to crash on my computer.

Am I just screwed out of the best Bonk experience possible?

I am trying to connect my Xbox series S controller to OpenEmu on my Mac Studio M2 Ultra.

When the controller is plugged in (I don't want to use bluetooth because I'll have to reconnect it to my Xbox, and I don't want to do that.

When the controller is plugged into the USB, when I open OpenEmu, it crashes and says the core quit unexpectedly after loading a save state.

But when I unplug the controller, the game loads fine.

My computer recognizes my controller being connected, but OpenEmu doesn't show it as a option to use in the controllers settings page.

If I load the game first and then plug the controller, the screen goes black.

Am I missing something?

I'm trying to play Ys IV Dawn of Ys fan translation on a Turbografx CD. And I thought a controller would make it easier.

I'm having an issue where a lot of my game boxes are loading with different ISOs in the drive list.

It happened with my 0.74 version of boxer, and those same boxes do it with the 4.1 version

I have tried manually removing them from the drive list, but they constantly get loaded in, and many are the default disc loaded.

And they also mount the drive in my Mac, and show up on my desktop.

Anyone have suggestions on how to get it to stop doing that?

I'm currently playing Ys IV Dawn of Ys, the fan translation, and I am loving it.

Ys I and II is my favorite game of all time, and I Know Wanderers gets a lot of hate, but I loved it. I played them on the TGFXCD.

I never got to play Dawn since it never came to the US. But I had MP3's of the music and fell in love with it. And I know it's not canon, but memories was not my favorite, nor is it in my top 5 probably.

It's interesting to see the graphic changes and improvements to the game. Like 8 direction/360 movement. Lightning crashes lighting up the entire scene, and not just th background. Not to mention the thunder crash timed with them. Tweaked and improved boss mechanics.

I can't talk about audio, because it is a remake and the fan audio seems pretty quiet compared to what I remember Book I and II being like. Although, III didn't live up to that audio balancing that I and II had either.

But the music is great. And it's fun getting to hear the music in the context of the game rathe than just a CD in my CD player.

All in all, I'm loving it so far.

I am trying to install RTZ-RM to play in Dosbox Staging.

I have followed all the instructions I can find on google. But it doesn't seem to be working or I messed something up somewhere.

I have the MT32 roms in my DosBox configuration folder, and my Staging folders. And I thought I had the conf file set up properly, but no matter what I try, it's not playing music.

The CD audio plays fine. But the general game music isn't playing.

If I have to, I can just use the REELmagic option for sound, but it's not overly impressive (I think it uses the SB/DOS version). I enjoyed the MT32 sound for my CD version.

Anyone have any tips for getting MT32 music to work? The sound effects seem to find of work. The river by the lighthouse makes sound. But the vulture in the beginning doesn't. And I can't figure out why I',m only getting some sound effects.

Boxer is built on DosBox, but I understand they Arne't the same thing. So if this is the wrong place to ask, I apologize.

I used my original CDROM disc to install it. But whenever I play it, I get this horrible static/distortion noise after videos play, and it will stop when I go to a new screen or another video plays. But it will start again later.

I have tried setting boxer at 386, 486, Pentium, and Max speeds. But if I set it too fast, I get scratches/skips in the music.

I have tried a Sound Blaster 16 setup, and a Roland MT-32 set up.

I have tried playing from my ISO rip, and my BIN/CUE rip.

Nothing seems to fix it.

Anyone have any tips?

I don't remember this being an issue on my old computer, so I don't remember what to do.

UPDATE: Holy crap! I think I got it fixed. I was running it with Sound Blaster 16 settings, because I believe it was out at the same time and I always just picked the 16. I just reinstalled it using Sound Blaster Pro, and it seems to work fine now.

UPDATE: I got it fixed. Reinstalled it and chose Sound Blaster Pro instead of 16. Don't know why but it seems to have issues with a 16 even though it's an option. But the 16 was relatively new at that point, so it makes sense.

But yeah, once I set it to the pro, it got rid of the distortion, and helped improve the skipping noise a little as well.

If this isn't the right place to ask, I apologize.

I am using Boxer on buy M2 Ultra Mac Studio, and I'm having an issue with a game (Legend of Kyrandia 1 if it helps), and the voice in that game is insanely quiet while the MT-32 volume is super loud.

I was curious if there was a way in boxer, or a dos command to run in a batch file before running the exe, that would lower the MT-32 volume while increasing the voice volume (I assume the voice would fall under Sound Blaster).

Or maybe turning down the MT32 volume while bringing up the master volume to help bring up the voice (which I tried using mixer MASTER, but it never seems to change it).

Is there some sort of hidden menu in boxer? Or an internal dos command I can run before loading the game?

It's been years since I played with VMware. Mainly since Apple upgraded to 64bit. I used it to run Win XP so I could play my old favorite windows games that wouldn't work on wineskin from the '90s and '00s.

I now have an M2 Ultra Mac Studio.

I was curious if there was a way to convert my old Win XP VM to work with newer VMware apps. I have the image from my previous computer (late 2015 iMac) with Win XP and all my games.

Mainly, I just don't want to have to go through the hassle of reinstalling everything and all the games.

If I can't convert the old image, is there a way to "copy and paste" or transfer the windows virtual machine to a new image file in a newer VMware app?

Or am I just being too hopeful that there is an easy fix?

I'm curious, what was the source of track 4: Creid?

I know they were rearranged, and full disclosure I never played the game. So I don't have a lifetime experience of the music.

But I was always curious what the source was, and wanted to listen to the original track to hear what it sounds like.

Does anyone know the source of that track?

I started playing a couple days ago and I’m in chapter 6 I believe.

I have two quest icons in the game. One on Kalon Island. And one on the ship (I just recruited the seer).

But when I go to the island or the ship, they don’t show up anywhere. I’m at the end of Specular bay.

Did I do something wrong? Or is it a glitch?

Update: ok, apparently the one on kalon was a monster quest.

But I still can’t find the one on my ship.
