Thoughts on Cadence Writing (Suggestions)

What advice do you have for the 'groove section' of this cadence i'm working on, do any of the parts look weird, or does anything sound out of place?

I've isolated the 'groove section' for this video since the rest of it is unfinished.

Also, i'm aware there are 2 tempo markings, just a small bug with musescore

Hardest Part About Composition: Starting.

For some context, my percussion director has asked me to write a few drumline cadences for the line for this upcoming season.

I've been trying my hardest to write but when as soon as I open the software I just can't put anything down that I'm satisfied with. I've written a couple of cadences before, and it used to happen really quickly to the point where I would get an idea and write it out in maybe a day or two. Nowadays, I struggle to even get 4 bars down that I'm satisfied with.

Even before my director asked me to start writing these, I've been trying over and over to no avail. I just cant seem to write the way I used to, and ideas don't even come to my head anymore.

I'm not sure what else to do other than keep trying, but I feel like something should have come to me by now after months of trying.

I know there's no simple way to write music, but I just want to ask: how do you personally begin writing music? What's usually the thing that gets your mind to make something original?

Help me pick a GPU for an upgrade (GTX 1660 SUPER)

Current Components:

CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core Processor
Memory - 16 GB DDR4

PSU - Thermaltake Smart BX1 550w
GPU - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER

Use Case:

I want to play DOOM: The Dark Ages, but it requires ray-tracing. My GTX 1660 SUPER does not have ray tracing capabilities, so I would like to upgrade to a card that will allow ray-tracing and give me better performance on high/very high settings in this generation of video games.

In other words, I need a GPU that allows ray-tracing as well as a noticeable performance boost from my current GTX 1660 SUPER.

Budget:

$350, but I would prefer to spend closer around $300.

Possible Choice:

This ASRock Radeon RX 7600 Challenger seems like a good choice, but I would like some other opinions: Amazon Link

Taking mod suggestions for zombie modpack

What mods do you suggest i add to a zombie survival modpack designed to be hard and immersive?

I’ve played a handful of zombie modpacks yet some of them just don’t play into the survival part of zombie survival enough. I believe that a big part of zombie survival games is not only making huge defenses and making strong weapons, but by making livable conditions out of a harsh and unforgiving world. I want base building, hunting, and tool progression to be things that the player should work for alongside killing zombies in a more immersive way. Cursed Walking is the closest a modpack has come to this idea for me, but it still doesn’t scratch that itch. I’m planning on having TacZ, Overgeared, Legendary Survival Overhaul, Zombie Awareness, and The Hordes to be the core of the modpack, and making the player work for everything they get. Lost Cities is also an idea I had, but I don’t like the idea of a player looting cities for good loot as soon as they can, nor do I want cities filled with zombies with no good reason to loot them.

In other words, I want the modpack to be unforgiving and challenging. The player should have to work to survive the world with thirst, temperature, and other mechanics just as much as they should work to not let zombies overpower them.

Also, this is the first time i’m trying to make a modpack, so any other general suggestions would be nice.

Learning tenor drums for composition

I've been trying to get better at writing for full battery, and I can play both snare and bass. I don't really know how to play tenors, so I've just been writing for them based off of general ideas and trying my best to airplay the parts to see what feels good. I would like to learn how to properly play them so that I can write more complex music for them and make things that not only sound good, but feel good to play. What do you recommend I should do to learn them on my own?
