NBD on a Casual build now just waiting on my work pair.

One of the two builds I have on order from Nick’s came in today I think they came out great the beeswax edge definitely was a good choice on the change window. The stitching on the uppers and the stitchdown are dam near perfect, Definitely seeing an improvement on that end great job Nick’s team, SPI is definitely better. Come on Nick’s no stickers!!

New Insoles

Some homemade insoles with some arch support. Threw them in a pair of boots to try out seems to be a good fit especially with the arch support placement. Don’t usually use chrome tanned leather for insoles but didn’t have any veg tan thin enough so just went with it, if they work out I’ll make another pair with some veg tan.

Insoles

Decided to make my own delta arch with some modifications to take up some volume on a boot that didn’t fit well, volume wise. I was using a Nicks delta arch with an added insole but it was squeaking some so decided to make my own with a little thicker arch piece for a touch more arch support. The older nicks insoles were thicker than newer ones. Hopefully it works out and solves my squeaking.

The boots

Have been unloading some pairs as of late but here’s the boot lineup minus a couple pairs that are in the work truck that I only use for paving and the muck boots which as of late seem to be the pair that’s getting the most use because of the work site I’m on being very wet. Also have a pair red wings on my amateur cobbler bench getting a rebuild.

Boot cleaning day

Cleaned up my Drew’s ltt work boots. They needed a little love. Cleaned them with some diluted dawn, used a suede brush to revive the nap and conditioned them with Saphir renovator spray for suede and nubuck. Used some Lincoln wax to clean up and protect the heel stacks.

Redwing supersoles 2.0

Worn these boots off and on for probably close to 20 years and came across some other brand that is made in the Dominican Republic the boots are the same pattern and the leather seems very similar if not the same exact thing was looking over the boot and saw remains of a tag that looks to be cut off and it’s the same size as the redwing tag it has me wondering do redwing have their boots stitched elsewhere and assemble the rest in the USA, I know that’s a common practice with others but always thought that the supersole line was completely made in the USA anyone know if that’s the case Here is the picture of the cut tag.
