We met when our kids were young. Both of us have special needs kids.

She has struggled with alcoholism since ‘10. She moved away in 2020 and we lost touch.

Her husband just called. My friend is on her deathbed. Delirious. Incontinent. Foaming at the mouth. It’s a matter of time.

I am sad we lost touch. I’m sad she never stuck with the multiple rehabs. But I’m mostly sad for her children and husband.

There's a lot of pieces that look like they would be very meaningful to Indigenous communities, and I hope they find their way into the appropriate hands
