Runway with a pitch?

Runway with a pitch?

How come they don’t build runways on an angle or pitch?
Planes taking off could go down the runway and since it’s rolling downhill it’ll get to take off speed faster.
Planes landing could land going uphill which would stop them faster.
Nothing crazy - just a few degrees pitch?

Caldera Vanto - "Power" / "Reset" lights alternate on Menu - Normal?

Edited - Meant "Power" and "Ready" (not "Reset")

The 'Power' and 'Ready' lights on the menu alternate blinking between the two.

I've noticed this from time to time and never thought much of it. A few nights ago the temp dropped to 93 degrees. While troubleshooting realized the blinking could be indication of an issue.

The owners manual is vague and my internet research is inconclusive. When I reached out to the dealer, the service manager said the alternating Power / Ready is "normal". Then when I said the temp dropped to 93 they said it is likely a flow issue, and scheduled a service appointment.

It still displays the temp normally and the water has come back up to temp. It does not give me the error where it just shows all dashes.

My question is: Do your Power / Ready lights on the menu blink alternately? Is this actually normal?

Chamonix - Input on a few days

Tried posting in the Zermatt & Chamonix subs with no response. Appreciate any help here.

Hi - we are trying to finish our planning for Chamonix. Here is what we have coming up:
Wednesday - Arrive late afternoon and check in. Walk the town.
Thursday - White Water Rafting w/ Mont Blanc Rafting
Friday - aiguille du midi & Dinner at La Tablee
Saturday - Aiguille des posettes
Sunday - Early transfer to Geneva airport via Go Alpes
We plan to buy the Mont Blanc Multipass which should include the lifts and gondolas to do the hikes we'd like. Wife and I. 2 kids (15/14)

Any other misses here? Do you think the Montblanc Multipass makes sense for us.

Thank you.

Lateral pain on #19 post root canal with an all clear CBCT - Why?

Will try to keep this concise of my history on molar #19:

March '25 - Emergency root canal while on a trip - overall a horrible couple of days

April '25 - Permanent filling put in

May '25 - Dec '25 - discomfort w/lateral touch to tooth. Dentist said that should not happen and see an Endodontist.

Dec '25 - Endodontist finds a 4th canal that was missed and signs of an issue on the x-ray at the root, so retreats everything.

Jan '26 - Follow up x-ray shows all clear at the bottom of the root. Permanent filling installed.

May '26 - Landing in Denver I feel the toothache coming on. Very uncomfortable. Took advil, it went away, and I was good the rest of the trip.

July '26 - 3 days ago. Tooth starts to mildly ache. I still have lateral pressure discomfort.

July '26 - Today, I had a CBCT done by a different Endo. He reviews and says the root canal has healed beautifully, and there are no signs of any abscess or infection, and that there is no vertical crack in the tooth. He thinks everything looks great. And said that once in a while a patient will feel pain/discomfort for no reason they can determine. Sometimes that goes away. He believes it is sensitivity in the ligament, and nothing in the tooth.

After all this - I still feel unsettled that there is discomfort.

Have a trip to Europe in a couple of weeks. I am terrified that I will have a repeat of my initial Denver emergency root canal experience. We are supposed to be traveling country to country and dealing with something like that would ruin the trip.

Any input or experience?

Chamonix to Geneva for a Sunday 9:20AM Flight - how to get to the airport?

We will be staying in Chamonix for a few days and then flying out of Geneva on a Sunday morning @ 9:20AM.

The trains and buses don't seem to run that early on a Sunday.

We are debating: get a private transfer to the airport in the AM - OR - leave Chamonix the evening before and spend the night in Geneva.

Appreciate the input!

Most scenic train to Chamonix

We are going Interlaken West to Chamonix - and not sure which of these routes would have the best views, and/or the best cars. We plan to upgrade to 1st class for a little extra space. Appreciate your insight!!

Intl Premium Plus - price difference

EWR to MXP flight.
I paid for economy for my daughter and I.
Used points to pay for my wife and son.
Looking at Premium Plus upgrades.
It is showing $389 for my wife and son. (XN fare)
But showing $558 for my daughter and I. (L fare)

Why is there such a difference?

I’m thinking about using miles to cover the $558 for my daughter and me, and cash for wife and son.

I’m worried that if I book 2 of the seats, could that drive the price up for the other 2 since it limits availability?

I’ll be Gold by the time we fly. That could help my daughter and me, but wife and son are on a different ticket from me. So likely no status. Not sure if that helps at all.

If premium plus doesn’t work out I’ll do economy plus using the 2 free upgrades from the credit card for wife and son. Then use my gold status to get economy plus during check in.

Appreciate any insight / strategy from this group!

Edited to add Fare Type…

Train Ticket - How many changes?

We are going to from Bellagio to Interlaken (staying on the west side of town).

I bought this train ticket - and trying to understand how many transfers I have to make. There’s a separate ticket in the SBB app for the portion from Como S Giovanni to Chiasso.

The volume of train options to get from Bellagio to Interlaken was aoverwhelming. I want to know how many transfers, and ensure I haven’t made any naive errors.

Appreciate the help.

Chest pain - I've had AFIB, but not in AFIB. Not a heart attack! Anyone similar?

First Afib episode was a year ago. The day I left the hospital, felt a mild pain in my chest on the left side. So did the full work up (EKG, Echocardiogram, Nuclear Stress Test, and 30-day monitor), and all was 100%. Fit and healthy, and diagnosed as more holiday heart because I'd been eating and boozing a ton in the sun for days.

3 nights ago, had sharp chest pain - enough to wake me up, but no other symptoms. Fell back asleep.

Last night, same sharp chest pain, on and off for a while. Then a cold sweat and some light headedness at 2AM. Google telling me it's a heart attack for sure. I rush to the hospital and it's not a heart attack (phew!) or Afib. Bloodwork comes back perfect and no Troponin which would indicate I'd had a heart attack.

I still have the dull ache just behind my chest bone on the left side that kind of comes and goes. ER doctor said "yeah - that happens. We get 5 people a day in here with chest pain that you can't really explain but it's definitely nothing cardiac related!".

Am I the only AFIB'er with this?
