What’s the best food to bring to a potluck that always disappears first?

I’d say chicken wings. Every time there’s a potluck, they always seem to be the first thing gone. They’re easy to grab, everyone likes them, and you don’t really need a plate or utensils. It’s hard to go wrong with wings.

What’s a hobby where “getting better” actually makes it less enjoyable?

For me it’s video games. The better I get, the more competitive I become, and I start taking every match way too seriously. When I was new, I could just play, mess around, and have fun without caring if I won or lost. Sometimes I miss that.

If you lost power for an entire month after a disaster, what are the five things you’d absolutely want to have?

If a disaster knocked out the power for a month, what are the five things you’d want to have?

For me, I’d say:
- A way to get clean drinking water.
- Canned food and dry foods with a long shelf life.
- A solar generator and a couple of power banks.
- A camp stove with enough fuel to cook.
- A well-stocked first aid kit.

What indoor activities do you do during a long power outage?

For those of you who have experienced long power outages during a typhoon or severe storm, what indoor activities do you usually do to stay busy and keep boredom away?

Besides the basics like reading or playing cards, are there any games, hobbies, or creative activities that don’t require electricity? If you’re with family, what do you do together to pass the time? If you’re by yourself, how do you keep yourself entertained?

I’m looking for ideas to help make the time go by if we end up without power for several hours or even a couple of days. Thanks in advance, and stay safe everyone!

What Nintendo character has the biggest untapped potential for their own game?

For me it’s Waluigi. He has been around in Mario spin-off games for years, but he has never really been given his own proper game or even a chance to be the main focus of anything. The interesting part is that he already has a strong personality and design that people recognize, and there is a lot Nintendo could do with him if they actually built a game around his character instead of just using him as a side character.

Power Banks

Am I allowed to bring a 10,000mah Power Bank on my personal item (handbag) when I enter the plane?

Would I also need to remove my power bank from my personal item when going through TSA or can I keep it inside my personal item? Thank you!

Power Banks

Any recommendations on where to buy a good power bank that will last long and have multiple charges (10,000mah or more)? I would like to know what brand is most reliable.

How can I sleep better in economy class during a long-haul flight?

I will be traveling through multiple airports with connecting flights and long layovers. The total travel time from my origin to my destination is expected to be around 20 hours, including layovers, with the longest flight lasting 14 hours.

How can I sleep better in economy class throughout the journey if I want to save money and not upgrade?

Nintendo 3DS consoles you own

How many Nintendo 3DS consoles do you own, and how were you able to get them?

The first one was the original Nintendo 3DS when it launched in 2011. I was able to get it at my local gaming store, alongside Nintendogs + Cats. Although the price was steep back then, I was fortunate enough to be part of the Ambassador Program. I still own it and play it to this day.

The second one was the Nintendo 3DS XL in 2015 because I wanted to try the larger screens. I got this one from the same local gaming store.

Both consoles still work and have a reasonable battery life of 3–5 hours, depending on the games I play on them. 🥰

Hiring often favors seniority over actual capability

I don’t know if this is just my experience, but I’ve noticed a pattern in a lot of workplaces where hiring decisions seem to lean heavily on seniority, tenure, or internal “ratings” rather than purely on current output or fit for the role.

Just to be clear, I don’t think senior employees are less capable in general, experience clearly matters and a lot of people are highly effective because of it. But I have seen situations where the rating or preference seems to be driven more by years in the system than by how someone is actually performing in relation to the current demands of the job.

Even when there are candidates who seem more aligned with what the role needs right now, whether that’s efficiency, updated skills, or adaptability, it sometimes feels like those factors take a backseat.

What makes it more noticeable is when the hiring process is already slow, and by the time a decision is made, the workload has been carried internally for quite a while.

It just creates this feeling that there’s sometimes a gap between how performance is measured or rewarded internally, and what the role actually requires in practice at that moment.

Curious if others have seen this in their workplaces or if I’m just overthinking it.

Outcall Massage Services in a Hotel Room

Question for massage therapists, hotel workers, and frequent travelers:

If you provide or book outcall massage services, how often do hotel guest policies create problems?

For example, if a hotel states that outside visitors, unregistered guests, or therapists not contracted with the hotel are not permitted in guest rooms, what is the usual expectation?

Do therapists generally:
- Respect the hotel’s policy and decline the booking?
- Expect the client to make their own decision?
- Proceed anyway because enforcement is rare?

Have you ever been denied entry to a hotel because of a guest policy, and if so, how common is that?

I’m curious what the industry norm is and how professionals typically handle situations where a hotel’s written policy conflicts with an outcall appointment.

What Nintendo 3DS games are you playing?

With some of us still playing on the Nintendo 3DS, what games are you playing and why have you decided to revisit the game, if you had already played them? 🥰

For me, it has to be Animal Crossing New Leaf as there are still villagers that I have a connection with despite having the Nintendo Switch.

Where Do You Love to Travel, and What Unique Souvenir Did You Bring Back to Guam? ✈️

I’ve always been curious about where people from Guam like to travel and what keeps them going back. Whether it’s the U.S. mainland, the Philippines, Japan, Korea, Hawaii, or somewhere else, what’s a trip that really stuck with you? Was there something about the place, the people, the food, or the overall experience that made you want to visit again?

Also, what did you bring back home with you? Not necessarily expensive souvenirs, but something memorable that reminds you of the trip whenever you see it.

One thing I always find myself doing when I travel is comparing things to Guam. Have you ever been somewhere and thought, “Man, I wish we had this back home”? Maybe it was a train system, a park, a festival, a restaurant, a shopping area, or even just the way things were organized. What was it, and do you think it would work here?

I’d love to hear where you’ve been, how often you travel there, whether it was a one-time trip or a place you keep returning to, and what memories or souvenirs you brought back to Guam.
