And so it begins. Knew it was coming as soon as they hired Tiffany Hoben.
Academic reviews point out that the textbook is heavily skewed to conservative view and unabashedly political and polemical, explicitly taking a side in modern cultural debates over the value of the Western canon. It was applauded by the likes of Hillsdale College.

Anyone have the tea on this??? Two months short of normal change of command is highly suspect, particularly with open source reporting of potential Russian threats to NATO in the coming weeks or months. Removing your operational ground force commander in Europe seems rather shortsighted.
Poor JD…never quite able to read the room
It was the latest round in a battle that dates back to 2024, when the conservative lobbying group Family Foundation of Virginia began calling for a Church Heritage Recognition Day proclamation in response to Fairfax County recognizing March 31 as Transgender Day of Visibility — which happened to coincide with Easter that year.
The car wash situation in Nova is already cruddy. Very few (none near me) and most are run by Flagship. I went to the one in Annandale on 50 today because I was in the area but for some reason it was closed mid-afternoon today. I’m guessing a mechanical issue. So I bit the bullet and drove up to Mr Wash in Vienna.
You pull in to a sort of corral and of course cars are immediately behind you. I asked for the basic, cheapest wash and he informed me that they only have one and it’s $30 😳. He tries hard to sell me on a membership and explains how it will be cheaper. No thank you I’m already 30 mins from home. At this point you’re kinda stuck and trapped so I paid the $30 thinking it would be top of the line. Boy was I wrong. Just highway robbery! Missed tons of spots and didn’t even have the team at the end to dry the glass to prevent spots 😫
Sweet Jesus. I thought Flagship was $$$ at $14 for a basic wash.
I know they’ve bought up many of the smaller car washes in the area and created a monopoly. What can we do to get some competition and better options in the area?!?!

Thinking about taking an OCONUS position coming out of AD to a location I was stationed at while on AD so we’re familiar with the area and it won’t be a huge transition personally. Am very comfortable with OCONUS PCSs with several under my belt so I think we can make this happen as fast as the command can issue paperwork, FJOs and travel orders, etc. However, this will be as a new hire civilian. Previously of course you’re on AD and getting paid normal salary during PCS prep and execution and travel as well as per diem, etc with an active GTC to cover costs. While I’ll be working for the same overall command as I was on AD (different location) I won’t have a new GTC yet and I assume not on the payroll during travel and PCS processing on this end and not on it until I sign in on the other end. Any words of advice? How do folks handle all the necessary logistics and finances when coming on as a new hire but not on the books yet. I assume flights will just be CBA and I’ll cover the travel and hotel costs and file for reimbursement upon arrival. All the running around for PCS prep is just unpaid time I guess, right? Luckily we all still have valid no fee passports so we don’t have to go through those hoops and won’t need VISAs for this OCONUS location. Of of this of course will likely be happening at the same time as my retirement pay is being held for the audit and still waiting on VA disability decisions so trying to estimate how much of savings will have to be dipped into to take this job.
Lookin good there Nancy in your Citadel uniform.
