I know the topic around JohnZee is pretty hot here. But I think the writer and artist are fan of Zatanna as strong character on her own and have experiences writing and drawing her as such. Beside its a 10 issue pages and seems aiming for "lighter" cutesy story.

So cheers up! if anything celebrate that it's could be a good Bechdel test to see if Jamal's efforts to make Zatanna as active, engaging protagonist on her own could be battle proven.

For JohnZee fans, maybe there are gonna be some hot discussions, but if anything it's could be a good starting to show that Zatanna could be her active, strong character (narratively) even when Constantine is around.

At this point, Zatanna hadn't appeared in a DC comic for nearly 4 whole years(!), with her last appearance having been in December 1974 (JLA #114). The surprise of the editors is evident- Zatanna not only won the poll but received more than double the votes of the next most popular candidate.

Being totally abandoned by writers for years and then surfing straight into a steady gig at the Justice League at the behest of fans dazzled by her sheer charisma is the most blessed, bizarre and generally Zatanna-core thing that ever could have happened. Good vibes.

And so begin Zatanna adventures and character growth from a novice magician to become a respected hypercompetent sorceress that even become the leader of Justice League as the Chairperson.

Big thanks for zatannaarchive at Tumblr for finding this

The Majestic Prime Magus's Outfit and the Sword really grew on me.

The third image just make me feel soft for her

There are hidden germs of Zatanna stories especially her character journey from a novice magician in Zatanna's Search to eventually become respected Sorceress and even as a JL Chairperson for some times in Justice League of America book.

Also Gray Morrows's art is just gorgeous

Also Gray Morrow's Zee is just so gorgeous

You can pre-order it via Your Local Comic Shop, onlines, or through Amazon!

It is said that the health of a comic book is seen on its first five issues. Getting sixth position in a heavily contested weeks with two Absolute titles, Batman Bad Seed events starting, and Deadshot first issue, is a strong performance for Zatanna book. I hope it's convince DC to make this Jamal Campbell 2026 Zatanna as a long ongoing and support the team on this lovely ongoing.

May it become the Renaissance era for Zatanna

Such a rollercoaster of emotions from this issue.

The story the start with Zatanna narrating about the History of the Homo Magi with the neat card tricks as the panels. The architecture, outfits and the cultures is cool to see as we see the full beauty of it later on in the issue. Its nice that Jamal give the Hidden City characters name and they could be a good addition or opponents for Zatanna.

Even though tensions are running high and the people are mourning their losses, Zatanna able to give them hope in the midst of it all with her magician persona. I think Jamal laid out good base for the conflicts, the stakes and the political stuffs. Also its so endearing to see Zatanna meet her other family here.

I'm so ready to see the upcoming Dragon fight

Really love the Prime Magus card design

THE HIDDEN CITY EXPOSED!
Zatanna Zatara arrives in the Hidden City of the Homo Magi, the place of her mother’s birth and death. Following up a string of mysterious visions and omens, she is met with a people divided, raging chaos, and unresolved anxieties, all on the verge of erupting. And what an eruption it will be!

I love seeing battle damaged Zee! Also its cool to see her as magical expert of the Justice League

1 x General's Bodyguard. unlike other Lords, they bring numbers
2 x Exalted Pink Horrors Eastern Infantry as arrows and bullets magnet. The Pink Pyjamas would bring terrors and fears to the enemies
4 x Yari Ashigaru. With their pike wall, they would bring shame to Asuryan staunch line of spears
4 x Lothern Sea Guard, best of two worlds (staunch line of spears and archers)
4 x Slavic Archers. Don't get fooled by the low stats, these proto track suits wearers would melt heavily armored units
4 x Scout Equites. These boys would save You in Siege Defense
1 x Wooden Cannons. Well I need a Siege Attacker to Auto Resolve Siege battles.

What can be improved? I hear Kensei is a great legendary heroes unit, but its on lategame
