When did the Rebel Alliance/New Republic start paying their soldiers, pilots, logistics staff etc properly?

I'm curious as to how such a pay system was structured. I would imagine that the soldiers on board the Tantive IV were paid as they were still working for the Organa family in an official capacity and not "in the Rebellion" proper.

But for say, the communication officers or starfighter maintenance crews who stayed on Yavin proper, I don't see them getting paid, not at that time at least. They pay Han Solo but of course he is just a smuggler doing a job and to let him go with the knowledge of their base location with no incentive not to snitch to the Empire would reap no benefit to the Alliance.

I would imagine a proper bureaucratic system got set up as the New Republic came about and grew in strength. Figures like Mon Mothma and Leia likely didn't have anything to worry about but would the average rebel have like a backlog of promised pay for their length of service?

Is there any works that discuss this? I wonder if any Rebels who were members pre Battle of Yavin got a good retirement pension lol.

About Ghorman's population...

Note: This is not a rant about Andor as I very much enjoyed the show. However this detail bothered me the moment it was mentioned.

Did anyone else have a problem/doubts about the entire planet of Ghorman's population being a measly 800,000 people?

I know Star Wars has always been terrible with numbers, but for one of the most serious pieces of Star Wars media (live action wise) that number felt absurd.

It would be one thing if it was a relatively backwater planet established not too long ago and just got the Empire's attention because of it's Kalkite. Sure Ghorman is listed as a colony in canon but considering how wealthy it is, it has likely been in the Republic for at least hundreds of years, especially since it has developed it's own unique culture and trade in the galaxy. And it only has 800,000 people in all that time?

And yet the Empire still feels the need to do a false flag operation to get them out of the way. I legitimately feel it would have been cheaper, easier, and less time consuming to just forcibly evict everyone and load them onto ships before dropping them off on some backwater planet (or throw them out the airlock into space, it's not like the Empire really cares about anyone's well-being).

Probably would have taken no more than a few months compared to the years they spent setting up proper false flag conditions. I know people would say the Senate would impose but much of the series shows how little the Senate actually matters or cares about anything. They wouldn't be able to lift a finger to help the Ghorman regardless.

I know they mentioned gaming out a disease or disaster during the Krennic meeting but even the excuse they gave to not go with them felt weak (things spiraled too out of control on a planet with 800,000 people?).

Films where the killer is actually protective of one of the protagonists.

Are there some recs where the slasher is actually trying to protect the protagonist for whatever reason, whether they're a love interest or family etc?

The first and primary one that comes to mind is Prom Night.

Are there any fics where the PRT/Protectorate gradually goes through internal reform throughout the story?

I want to see a story that kind of serves as a bridge or middle ground between the two opposing views on the PRT. One where their flaws are heavily acknowledged but also where the protagonists recognize the necessity of such an organization and people try to expose/push out the corrupting factors and turn the organization into a more competent and genuinely heroic group over the course of the story.

How much would the plots of Scream 1-6 derail if a killer's identity was revealed at these specific points in the films?

I had been wondering to myself about how much some of the killer's plans would derail if their masks was ripped off at these points in the films:

Scream 1: When Ghostface attacks Sidney at her house, if Sidney managed to stun him temporarily and take his mask off, finding out he is Stu (I assume that Ghostface was Stu otherwise Billy got undressed and around the house in impossible speed).

Scream 2: The scene in which Ghostface crashes the cop car, Sidney actually goes through with taking off his mask and finds out Mickey is one of the killers.

Scream 3: During the Ghostface's chase of Sidney on the set, Roman slips up and gets revealed.. Honestly in this case the movie ends there since he is the only killer here.

Scream 4: Charlie gets shot by Dewey and has his identity exposed at the Stab-a-thon. Or Sidney manages to knock him out after his attack on Olivia long enough for the cops to detain him.

Scream 5: I think this is the most interesting one. If Dewey actually managed to finish off Ghostface in the hospital and expose Amber right in front of Sam, Tara, and Richie. Richie's plan would be pretty fucked since he can no longer use the party as a cover to kill the others with Amber caught or dead. Tara would also definitely be feeling very betrayed at the moment.

Scream 6: The sisters manage to pin the bodega Ghostface under the shelves long enough to find out he is detective Bailey. That would definitely send things off rail and put Quinn and Ethan on the suspect radar by extension way to soon. Another scenario is if the core four actually manage to pin down Ghostface during the apartment attack and rip off his mask, exposing Ethan.

[Obsession] In the scenario of Bear and "Freaky" Nikki having children, would Nikki's "love" extend to them or would she see them as competition?

In the worst case scenario where Bear and the "entity" Nikki's relationship lasted years to the point of having children, would entity Nikki be as wildly obsessed/protective of them as Bear (in an "they're an extension of Bear" sort of way) or would she wind up viewing them as competitors to Bear's "love" whom need to be disposed of? Regardless of which, I highly doubt any relationship between them would be remotely healthy.

Fics where the Endbringer attacks suddenly stop happening.

Are there some fanfics where Endbringer attacks just stop happening and catch the world off guard? Perhaps an Alt-power Taylor or other cape managed to unexpectedly communicate with one and convince them leave humanity be for the time being. Or it could be all on the Endbringers own accord.

How large did OT era George Lucas and early Legends authors envision the Empire and Imperial Navy?

Honestly I've heard a mixture of things regarding Star Wars numbers second hand from a variety of sources. I know of the 25,000 Star Destroyers quote (apparently a West Ends Sourcebook from 1993?).

But it seems that games like Tie Fighter and certain authors like Timothy Zahn imagined a much smaller fleet for the Imperial Navy. I wouldn't be surprised if much of this is due to the visual limitations on space battles during the 80s. In ROTJ there are apparently no more than 36 Star Destroyers on screen during the Battle of Endor though the novelization extends this number.

I'm just curious if there is some behind the scenes discussions and interviews with 80s era Lucas and Legends authors on how they viewed the scope of the galaxy. The source number of 1 million planets being part of the Republic/Empire never sat right with me to be honest. I can believe thousands or hundreds of thousands but not 1 million.

What would happen if the Death Star's superlaser backfired at Jedha? What's next for the Rebellion and Empire?

I'm imagining two scenarios where the laser backfires when Tarkin and Krennic try to test the weapon in Jedha.

One scenario is where the laser fails to work at all. Perhaps it still couldn't properly handle to surge of energy and had the equivalent of blowing a fuse but the station itself still stands. Krennic would obviously be humiliated and perhaps executed for the incompetence of his R&D department. That said Galen is still alive at this point and as the laser designer would still have to answer to his higher-ups. Back to drawing board for the Empire I suppose.

The other scenario is the superlaser completely overloading and ending up destroying the Death Star itself instead of Jedha. The Rogue One crew would have witnessed it's destruction and report this back to Yavin. With Tarkin and Krennic dead there is probably some confusion in the higher chain in command. Palpatine would likely be completely furious since they would essentially have to start from scratch in building it. That said since it blew up before it's reveal or destroying Alderaan, the Rebels probably don't get a flock of new recruits to the cause and remain more covert for the time being.

In Legends what, if any, operations did the Rebels run from Echo Base on Hoth during their time there?

I'm applying the flair to Legend since in canon the Rebels were only on Hoth for a month before the Empire found them.

I'm curious as to what missions did the Rebels conduct from their Hoth base during the time between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back. In both canon and Legends we see the Rebels carry out numerous missions from their Yavin base. Again due to the canon short timespan, this leaves Legends to fill that void on what activities they were conducting while they were there.

If Palpatine's identity as the Sith and creator of the Separatist movement was publicly and undeniably revealed during the Clone Wars, how would the Separatist Council and Parliament react?

For example, if one of Dooku's transmissions to Sidious got discovered and mentioned his identity.

If such evidence that the Supreme Chancellor is the ultimate creator of the Separatist movement, how would they take it. The Separatist Council knew of Sidious of course but they definitely did not know he was Palpatine. They would probably be flabbergasted and try to break off things since it's now obvious they're being manipulated to a hidden goal by their supposed enemy.

I can't imagine Grievous would care too greatly but perhaps he would respect the con. Though if Legends Grievous found out about the Sith being behind his ship crash, I could imagine him breaking off with his fleet and just going the way of a rogue warlord.

The reactions from the Separatist Parliament, especially the true believers like Mina Bonteri, I think would be very interesting. Since the whole movement turned out to be a pawn of the Republic leadership, I could imagine alot of rage and feelings of betrayal. But whether they would want to continue fighting or broker off a peace with a Republic that removes Palpatine as Chancellor, I can't say I'm sure of the outcome.

Can we assume the prisoners at places like Narkina 5 had their extended sentences overturned by the New Republic?

So I'm progressing through Andor and just started Season 2. The Narkina 5 arc from season 1 was interesting but it did leave me wondering. The inmates who were locked up were shocked when learning no one outside like Cassian knew about the PORD act.

I could easily see it being overlooked even more as the Galactic Civil War escalated and I wouldn't be surprised if conditions across the Empire got even worse once the second Death Star got put into production.

Given what we know about the New Republic, do we think that the courts might have done extensive overhaul and look through all these trumped up charges and let them free or just didn't bother checking and left things as they were?

Were there any popular insurgencies or non state actors that tried to run things democratically during the middle of a conflict?

Of course, there are cases where democratic states still held elections during the middle of a war where the fate of nation was at stake such as the USA during the Civil War. However since these governments were effectively the legitimately recognized state they were more at luxury to continue to do so.

However, I'm curious as to whether there are any cases of insurgencies/rebellions/non state actors who were not the recognized legitimate government at the time, trying to behave relatively democratically while still at war.

Stories where Taylor's power allows her to "coordinate" others during major battles such as Endbringers or S Class Threats.

This is mainly inspired from Tinker, Taylor, Builder, Nexus where Taylor basically administrates the Leviathan battle, in charge of strategy and directing the injured, etc. I would like to read more fics that take this approach to the QA ability.

What's next for the Jedi Order assuming Axum and the Anaxes are eventually liberated?

I feel like it's going to be a difficult path forward for the Jedi Order as a whole assuming the Imperium is defeated in the audio drama. They have lost hundreds (potentially thousands) of Jedi by bringing half the Order to the battle. Some influential Jedi like Mace Windu have fallen to the dark side while waging war against the Imperium.

Their numbers are very depleted and the padawans and younglings that remained at the temple are likely going to have difficulties finding masters/being trained since so many knights and masters have already died. They might have to loosen restrictions and assign knights to have multiple apprentices.

Not to mention the likelihood of them finding out about Palpatine's Sith nature during this crisis while licking their wounds, and Aayla Secura knows firsthand how hopeless it is for any Jedi, sans perhaps Anakin, to stand up to him in a duel.

What if the Rebel Alliance found out about Exegol before/during ROTJ?

Thanks to the Darth Vader 2020 comics, we know the Xyston Star Destroyers were being worked on even during the late Imperial Era. I'm don't believe the superlasers were functional yet but still the potential of a fleet of planet killers on top of the 2nd Death Star is definitely a threat to be feared.

If the Alliance learned about this, perhaps a leak somewhere high up in the Empire, what would they realistically do. The 2nd Death Star would still be the higher priority and Exegol is far in the Unknown Regions. But can we assume they would get around to it within a year or so after Endor with proper fleet buildup?

Books that show the complexities of running an interplanetary or galactic democracy.

The Star Wars prequels and the politics of the Galactic Republic are my main inspiration for this post. Are there some good books that show the workings of a democratic society on such scale?

It could span a solar system or a galaxy. I would like to see how one would try to manage conflict between planets of entirely different cultures and/or species.

Were there any Force sensitive senators or chancellors unrelated to the Jedi or Sith?

It is a galaxy of millions of species, some of whom like the Miraluka are naturally force sensitive. Do we know of any politicians in the Galactic Republic, canon or legends, with no ties to the Jedi or Sith, whom served in Republic politics? Were there any debates on their presence in the Senate or if they had any distinct views on the Force?
