I work 10hr shifts in a DC. my shift starts at 5am and I dropped the ball and overslept so I did not clock in til 5:20. Do I still get paid for the holiday? Or just my normal time and a half for the hours I worked?

Hello! I am having trouble with luring cats. I’ve seen all the guides online how to lure certain cats. But it seems like no matter what I put in the box, I always get a moon cat. Is there a foolproof guide to this somewhere? Any tips?

To keep a long story short, there’s been red flags with this employer since the beginning (2 months ago). My first day started AFTER the last day of the employee(s) I was replacing. On my first day I was basically sat at the front computer, showed the phone, and was wished good luck.
I worked very similar roles previously so I was able to manage okay for the most part, mind navigating a brand new system I’ve never worked on. When I had questions, my boss would tell me to ask ChatGPT.
Should have known then.
But I stayed in hopes situation would improve. I wanted to help him fix his business because there was an extremely high turnover rate, leaving major inconsistencies with the way business ran.
I should have known then, too.
After a full 8 hour work day today, I was pulled into my bosses office, and I grabbed a notebook thinking he was going to talk to me about.. anything else. But I was met with a termination letter. While he yaps about how it was a very difficult decision, etc etc, I am sitting completely blindsided. He explains I am not fulfilling my role to his expectations. I asked him to tell me what I could have done better, because I have no idea what I did wrong. This is the first time I’m hearing about any shortcomings. He then says he is sorry but the decision has already been made, and if I want more explanation we can set up a separate meeting.
So… what now? I don’t even understand what I did wrong, and the worst part is I left a job I absolutely loved (reluctantly, as the job I took offered a huge pay increase and a quarter of the commute) for this to be the outcome.
I feel like I was duped. I’ve never gotten fired from a job before. And I don’t even know why I was fired from this one.

I started a job at my current office about a month ago. I’ve been a dental office manager for 5 years at a different practice. I knew going into it this was an office that was OON with all insurance besides Delta Dental Premier. However, every day is a struggle to fill the Doctor’s production schedule. All day, I’m calling and leaving voicemails for unscheduled treatment with no responses. The doctor just bought this practice in December and is a fairly new grad, early 30s. My question is: how do you establish a patient base while still being OON with most insurances? We are already writing off the difference for patients on recalls/exams just to keep the patients we do have happy. Is there anything else you suggest for getting new patients in the door? In my opinion I think the practice should have built a loyal patient base before going OON with insurances. Please let me know what I can suggest to the owner and things I can be doing better.
