WIBTA for buying a camera without my parent's permission?

For context, I'm 17 years old.

So I've been wanting to get into plane spotting and proper photography for a while now. And my parents have a decent camera + lens collection. My parents also told me I could use their old camera if I wanted to.

However, I'm seriously considering just buying a used camera with my money (i got it from my grandparents). That's because whenever I try to take out his old camera my parents keep trying to talk me out of it telling me how good a phone is for photography and are also kind of condescending whenever I try to use the thing and learn with it when I'm at home, and it's honestly a bit frustrating. So I'm looking into buying my own camera and lens so i'm not restricted by them, and so I can take it without me where I want and when I want.

So WIBTA if i buy a camera without my parents permission?

Edit: forgot to include but it's not like a ridiculous amount of money. I'm looking into spending around 400 bucks, which while it's still a decent chunk of money, feels reasonable to me. And if I end up not liking it I can sell it back on the used market.

edit (backstory which was requested)

So for a long time I've loved planes and taking pictures of planes at the airport with my phone. Funnily enough, sometimes I've been looking more forward to taking pictures of planes than actually going to the destination. But with that aside, I've always found zoom to be very limiting when using my phone, so I wanted to buy a DSLR/proper camera with zoom.

The thing that sparked this was that I have a short school trip coming up, and I wanted to go to the airport a couple of hours early (we all meet at the airport) to plane spot and I asked them if I can take the camera. They told me that I don't even know how to shoot pictures and that it's heavy and that my phone is good enough and told me outright I couldn't take the zoom lens and strongly discouraged me from taking the camera itself.

And that was honestly really disappointing and frustrating because not only could I not plane spot, I couldn't take the photos I want to take on the trip. And it's not like I could experiment with different shots and different techniques and learn the camera either. So yeah. I hope that's enough backstory and if you have any questions feel free to ask

What are the differences between the SL2, T7i and the 760D?

(1) Budget, country, and currency: 300 USD, South Korea

(2) What equipment, if any, you have now and why is it no longer meeting your needs? Currently have iPhone 16 Pro. Not enough zoom and want to try proper camera.

(3) What kinds of subjects do you intend to shoot? Landscapes and airliners at airports

(4) Is it primarily for photography, videography, or both? Primarily photography but would like to explore videography down the line. not a priority atm though.

I'm wondering what the differences between these bodies are because as far as I know, these use the same sensor. I plan on using a 55-250 STM lens and a 18-55 STM lens to start.

Canon 6D for planespotting?

I'm wondering if anyone planespots with a canon 6d here.

I normally take photos with my phone but I found an old 6d lying around so I'm wondering how it is. For lenses i plan on using the 70-300mm from canon.
