Gym then soaking in the rays while reading a book and enjoying fresh air in the park. Can't think of a better way to spend the afternoon!

[AP X Swatch] Swatch needs to do something about this shit show of a release.. like letting people buy them online

I'm not interested in any Swatch collab, including this one, and I won't buy it anyway. But for the life of me I just can't find a logical reason why they couldn't let you order one online to avoid this mess in front of their stores.

Only thing that makes sense is they're afraid if you think away from the hype, most people will quickly realize that they're thirsting after a plastic pendant with such awful colors that make it look like something your kids got with a happy meal.

[Hamilton Khaki Aviation X-Wind Auto Chrono] swapped the bracelet for a leather strap.

A brown leather strap gives it a more retro vibe and I feel like it's closer to how pilots wore them back in the day. It also lets you get a much better fit. Never been the biggest fan of bracelets personally. It also makes it much lighter. With the bracelet it's like a quarter of a Kg lol, like half a pound. That's not necessarily bad, as it means the watch has much more presence on your wrist and I like that, but it's refreshing and means the watch doesn't bob and roll around your wrist as much.

So I swapped the stainless steel bracelet with a leather strap.

I like it better with this one. It's lighter and there's more contrast. Besides you can get a much better fit this way. It's also more retro and classic. Could be just me.

I can't think of a more annoying and harmful piece of technology than the smartwatch. Getting buzzed every time an app sends you a notification is one of the worst ways to disconnect yourself from the moment and keep you coming back to your phone every time you manage to unglue yourself from the screen. And that's on top of the fact that they're basically yet another "smart" device with preplanned obsolescence that you have to worry about charging every night and replacing every 2 to 3 years.

I've always been into regular watches and decided to double down on that and now have a collection of Japanese and Swiss mechanical and Quartz watches that not only look much better and will last much longer but also don't affect my mentality in such a terrible way.

It's hefty and solid and fits my 7.9 inch wrist like a glove. Speaking of gloves I already ordered a couple leather straps cause I'm pretty sure it'll look more retro and badass with a brown leather strap. And boy that 7750 Valjoux is easy to hear in a quiet room which I adore. It's also pretty accurate in my experience so far. Off by like 15 seconds after a week.

It's a tank of a watch but it's a very elegant tank. And it fits my wrist size like a glove.

To the left, my Casio CA53W calculator watch, cost me about 20 bucks plus taxes.

To the right, my Hamilton Khaki Aviation X Wind Auto Chrono (boy that's a long name), cost me about 2K USD plus taxes with the extra brown leather strap.

The crazy part? I wear both of them cause I like both of them and they bring me tremendous joy for different reasons. While the Hamilton is an elegant tank, the Casio is the cool watch that was my childhood pride and joy.

Oh, and it's also 100 times cheaper (literally) and for that you get a reliable timepiece that's iconic and unpretentious and I'm not afraid to beat up in the gym and whatnot.

I'm pretty sure it'll look even better with a leather strap, so I ordered a dark brown one cause the retro rusty vibe is gonna be kinda hard to beat. It's not my first mechanical watch but it's definitely my favorite. Big and chunky but that looks better on me cause I have a 7.9 to 8 inch wrist.

Looks are subjective for sure but it's well built and tanky and the dial is the perfect balance between busy and clean IMHO. I love chronographs.

I'm going to get the stock leather strap too as I prefer leather straps to bracelets. But man do I like this watch! It's pretty substantial and hefty which is to my taste. I have a 7.9 inch wrist and at 45mm it seems to be the right fit for me, much better than my 39mm Tissot Chemin Des Tourelles skeleton. It's a thick chunky watch too and feels solid and very well built.

Looks are subjective but the dial looks amazing and classic and has the right amount of subdials and the drift angle calculator is a neat party trick even though I'll probably never need it. The case and rotating bezel are very well made and the screw down crowns are a huge plus to me. I love how the chronograph hands snap back to 0 when you press the reset button.

The movement (Valjoux 7750) is plenty accurate for a mechanical movement and it's called the tractor for a reason.

Just my quick review. I know the khaki field watches are more popular but this one is much better suited if you're a big guy looking for something less common.

They killed the ability to change font size. That is so stupid is hurts my brain to even think about it. You can pinch to zoom but you'll have to do that every single page, which is incredibly frustrating and annoying.

I know tech issues happen but like seriously? This is monkey business right there. To call this stupid and pathetic and disgusting is an understatement. It was perfectly fine until they decided that an app meant to read books needs no font settings.

This isn't my first snake, I had a Florida king that I kept with my gf a few years ago. But when she left she took that snake with her and I didn't complain cause back then I was a student with precious little free time and money.

Now I'm a healthcare professional with enough time and money so here we go. This is so much better IMHO. Much more curious and seemingly more intelligent. She's 5.5 months old approximately and I was told that they can be grumpy and nippy as babies but she has never ever even hissed at me and I can literally reach into the enclosure and pick the snake up and she doesn't even act nervously. I fed her twice so far, at 7 to 10 day intervals, and she has a great appetite.

Do they make good first pet snake? I mean my experience is limited to a sample of one and little time but I'd say yes with 3 big caveats.

  1. You have a lot of space. Even as a baby a 20 gal is pretty much a no go. I keep mine in a 3 ft by 2 ft by 1.75 ft (so that's like a 67 gal) and she's like 22 to 24 inches long. She seems to use it! Her first 2 days she spent in a hide at the warm side and then I have seen her in every part of the enclosure. And in 1.5 years to 2 years she'll be 3 to 3.5 ft long and at that point I'll move her to a 6 x 2 x 2.

  2. You have enough money. The snake itself cost me 110 USD, so plenty cheap. I do not care about morphs, in fact I prefer to keep animals that resemble what you'll see in the wild as much as possible. The enclosure you need for one in the first 2 to 2.5 years of its life is fairly cheap too (it'll still cost you like 200 to 250 bucks for the enclosure, heating, substrate, 2 hides, and a large water bowl and maybe a laser thermometer gun). But after that? A 6 x 2 x 2 here is like 500-550 USD, I use a mix of cocoa husk and cypress mulch and enough of it for an enclosure that big will run you close to 200 bucks

Add the hides, heating, a very large water bowl, and some decor and you're in the one grand territory. That's not an impossible amount of money, but it's definitely not cheap.

  1. You're not easily startled. My friend bought one under a year old a few years ago, and hers was very nippy and hissy and angry at first. Still tamed down and became chill after just a week of handling, but you have to be willing to pick up a snake that might decide to bite you I suppose. And (iirc) the average BCI, assuming you don't get one of the dwarf subspecies (I hear they exist but mine is normal), will probably grow to be over 7 feet at 5 years old. If the idea of a snake that big is too much for you then this is a pretty bad idea.

Overall I didn't get the snake cause I wanted a pet snake, I bought it cause I wanted a boa. I like snakes in general but I don't want to keep 99% of them as pets. BPs, corn snakes, and most of the commonly kept species are boring to me (no disrespect whatever to those who keep them, I'm sure they're delightful for the right person). But for me, I don't think you can possibly top a BCI/BCC!
