Alhamdulillah, I took my shahada today 🤲🏽

Today, October 2nd, I took my shahada at the masjid and officially embraced Islam.

I came from a Christian background, and my journey to Islam has been a process of learning, asking questions, reflecting, and trying to understand my faith on a deeper level. Over time, I found myself drawn to Islam, and today I finally took that step.

One verse that has really stuck with me throughout this journey is Surah Ad-Duha 93:7:
وَوَجَدَكَ ضَالًّا فَهَدَىٰ
“And He found you lost and guided you.”

This verse resonates with me deeply. It reminds me that guidance doesn't always come when or how we expect it, and sometimes we only understand the journey when we look back.

Something else made today particularly memorable. Before I took my shahada, the imam spoke about Salahuddin al-Ayyubi (Saladin), the Muslim leader who recaptured Jerusalem on October 2nd, 1187. I found it fascinating to learn about his story, and realizing that it happened on this exact date made the day feel even more special to me.

I know this is just the beginning, and I have so much to learn. I'm looking forward to learning the Quran, becoming consistent with my salah, understanding the deen, and continuing to grow in my faith. I'm sure there will be challenges along the way, but I'm grateful to be here inshallah.

Alhamdulillah for the guidance. May Allah keep us firm upon the straight path. Ameen.

Just moved in, still have more decorating to do. What do we think?

11 ft viewing distance. The console could definitely be a little bigger. TV is 70". I was originally planning on getting a 65", but got a good deal on this one. Of course, I had already bought the console before deciding on the TV size lol.

Anyone else looking for something to do this weekend?

I was looking around and realized there’s actually a some fun things going on in Schaumburg this weekend.

A few things I came across:

Sim Gaming Expo 2026 at the Schaumburg Convention Center, Friday-Sunday

WINGS Resale Block Party on Saturday

Eric Gutman Sings Neil Diamond at the Al Larson Cultural Center on Saturday

Bill Bellamy at Chicago Improv Friday-Sunday

Mid-Autumn Festival at the Schaumburg Library on Sunday

¡Adiós Amigos! at Spring Valley on Sunday

Figured I’d throw it out there in case anyone else was trying to figure out weekend plans.

Anything else happening around town that I missed?

First-time buyer: What used Tesla should I buy for under $15k?

I’m looking to buy my first Tesla and am leaning toward a used Tesla Model 3 or an older Model S. My budget is around $15k.

For those who own used Teslas, what year/model would you recommend at this price point? Are there any years, trims, or mileage ranges I should specifically look for or avoid?

Basically, if you had $15k to spend on your first Tesla today, what would you buy and what would you stay away from?

Appreciate any advice!

Schaumburg Apartment Recommendations?

I'm relocating to the Schaumburg area this September for work. Since I'm not familiar with the area anymore, I'd love to hear your recommendations.

Here are my must-haves:

In-unit laundry

Central A/C

Garage (attached or covered preferred)

My budget is ideally under $2,300/month including utilities. Lower would obviously be ideal. 1bed or 2bed preferred.

Ideally, I’d like to be in Schaumburg but I’d be open to Hoffman Estates, Elk Grove Village, or Rolling Meadows if it’s within a 15-20 minute commute from Woodfield Mall.

If you've had a great experience with a particular apartment community (or know of any to avoid), I'd really appreciate your recommendations. Thanks in advance!

Is owning a chiropractic practice actually a good long-term asset?

I'm a micropractice owner, and lately I've been wondering if owning a chiropractic practice is actually a great long-term investment.

The freedom and income are obviously appealing, but what about the exit strategy?

I've heard a lot of stories about chiropractors struggling to sell their practices when they're ready to retire. Unless you have a highly profitable, well-established office, finding the right buyer seems difficult. If your practice depends on you, how much is the business really worth once you step away?

It makes me wonder if owning a practice is great for generating income during your career, but not necessarily the best long-term asset.

Does anyone else think about this, or am I looking at it the wrong way?

Bitcoin Cycle Theory is Dead. Long Live the LeBron Indicator.

Every time LeBron changes teams, Bitcoin enters an entirely different price era.

July 8, 2010 — LeBron → Miami
BTC: ~$0.08

July 11, 2014 — LeBron → Cleveland
BTC: ~$620

July 1, 2018 — LeBron → Lakers
BTC: ~$6,350

2026 — LeBron's future back in the headlines
BTC: ~$60,000

Forget the halving.

Forget the four-year cycle.

If LeBron signs tomorrow...$1M is officially on the table.

Chiropractors: Which associate position would you choose?

Let’s assume both jobs are in the same area, require recommending short to medium term care plans, and you’re the ONLY chiropractor working at each option.

Option A
$80k-$90k base salary
Bonus structure can push total compensation into the $125k-$160k+ range
Full benefits (health, dental, vision), PTO, malpractice, 401(k), gym membership, etc
Approximately 35-40 hours/week; schedule flexibility once production goals are consistently met
30-minute one-on-one appointments
Typically 10-12 visits/day (increasing volume to 60+ visits/week would be the goal to hit the higher end of compensation)
Start with little to no patient base and build your practice
More focus on patient education, ROFs, conversions, retention, referrals, and internal marketing

Option B
$50-$60/hr working 40 hours/week.
Bonus structure can push total compensation into the $140k-$170k+ range
Benefits only include malpractice, license renewal, and 401(k)
Set clinic hours working 40 hours/week; no schedule flexibility
Typically ~40 + visits/day (increasing volume to 200+ visits/week would be the goal to hit the higher end of compensation)
Established patient base from day one
More focus on adjusting and managing patient volume; less marketing required since patients are already coming in

If you were to pick a long term opportunity which would you choose and why?

For the docs who have been practicing 10+ years, do you think high-volume practice is worth the extra income, or do you eventually appreciate lower volume, longer visits, and a more sustainable pace? Take your health, family/work/life balance into consideration.

Bitcoin is on sale

Years from now, nobody will remember the scary headlines, the red candles, or the panic posts.

They'll remember whether they had the conviction to keep buying when everyone else was afraid.

Bitcoin is still Bitcoin.

21 million.

Tick tock, next block.

Keep stacking. 🚀

After way too long saying “I’ll start soon” I finally did it.

Bought my first amount of Bitcoin today, learned self custody, and picked up a cold wallet.

Now I’m DCA’ing a small amount daily.

Not much yet but it’s a start.
