How many of you remember this film?

How many of you remember this film?

I honestly won't deny I was kinda amused by this. Like I hated the cringe concept of it meanwhile I wanted to watch it as well. I was 12 years old when this film came out. And tbh most of my insecurities I've till this date found their roots at that age only.

It was so relatable cuz we all had that one girl like shamira in our classes. I personally felt quite resonating to the character of Aanchal as I was bullied in my school for not being a chic, not applying makeup and being too simple... I felt bad and relatable to her a lot.

Why can't guys simply understand that we weren't downloaded from internet, we have got parents too?

Like seriously the audacity of guys to simply assume that they don't matter or sometimes don't even exist...

Why is the entire society so averse towards the idea of women "Eating food" ??

I'll try to explain what I'm asking through some examples...

  1. Women in the house working till 3 pm without even thinking to eat for herself are glorified.

  2. If guests have arrived and she sits with them to eat, even if someone doesn't say anything, people would be visibly uncomfortable.

  3. While distributing any fruit, sweets, fast food item if she sets apart a plate for herself, everyone casually mocks her.

  4. She's expected to eat after everyone and if any item has finished, she isn't supposed to complaint.

  5. If she cooks something solely for herself, she's mocked.

  6. She's not asked about her choice on the menu when family is out there for a celebration in some restaurant.

  7. If in hurry, nobody waits for her to finish her plate or even letting her eat.

  8. If she takes out some snacks for herself from kitchen cabinets, people react as if she has stolen something from supermart.

..... and plenty of examples like this all around us even in educated and modern families. Why is Indian society so averse to the idea of women eating? Like, are we not humans? don't we need fuel to function? Fruits specially, if a lady in house asks for fruits she's looked upon as if a prisoner asked to let him go out of jail.

Why is idea of women eating anything feels so uncomfortable to our society?? What's so shameful in merely consuming food?

Please Help!!! Environment is in danger (Pun intended)

So I tried PMF environment book, it's good no doubt... but it's not helping me personally. I feel it's too much biology and science oriented and I'm unable to grasp it.

Please help me with some sources that can actually help me as the subject only needs generic coverage.

Only one source would do as well.

Please suggest some lesser known or completely lost classics, fiction, thrillers, magical realism books

Paid promotions and reel culture has destroyed value reading I suppose. I mean, I'm done with Colleen Hoover, Macfadein, Sita/Daruapdi tales, Indian history or dark romance.

I want to know something which excites avid and true readers. Pieces that are unknown to content creators and away from streamline algorithm. Something that you won't find on bookshelves of libraries or bookstores, something that exists but lost its relevance to epochs of time. I know people here will come up with marvellous suggestions.

All in all, I want to read unknown but good books that have not been yet discovered by pop culture.

Kindly don't suggest Romance genre please.

Astrological significance that repeats in charts of people who tremendously love books?

Something like Belle from Beauty and the Beast who gasped on merely a view of a library in front of her as she was such die hard fond of books.

It was so refreshing to see women discussing everything except men, change is visible?

So I've recently joined a central ministry. I've been recruited on ad hoc basis and my team people are all women. We've to work with the application unit of the ministry planning to role out phone and screen conducive information for consumption.

Today all of them were sitting in canteen, though I wasn't engaged in the conversation but I was being an active listener. All the girls are upto 25-26 years of age and they had tremendous tooics to talk about ranging from a wide variety of upcoming assembly elections, policy making, parliament in session, recent CJP protest to travel locations, makeup cosmetics, skincare, haircut, affordable accesories and what not...!!! they were sounding so chirpy so happy and so involved in their own little carefree conversation.

But guess what, there was NOT EVEN A SINGLE MENTION of things like dating, boyfriend, husband, marriage, breakup, patchup, romance etc etc etc. While back in my hometown (Jodhpur) all that women talk about are marriage, husbands, cooking and unmarried ones talk about boyfriends, hookups, enticing guys etc.

I felt so content seeing women finally decentering men and living their life for themselves as individual entities. I wish all women across the nation could soon feel and apply this change in their lives.

Am I even destined to get married? I've a medical issue with my body.

I was recently diagnosed with an ovarian torsion which cut my blood supply and one ovary became dead and doctor had to remove it via immediate surgery. Although I'm in my early 20s but this incident has now gotten inside my head that given how Indian society works, I might never going to get married.

I just need a concrete yes or no. Because is astrologically it's possible, Shri Hari will anyhow make sure that it happens. But if it's not possible, I'd at least be able to let go of my desire or be a bride and wife somed and can wholely concentrate on other stuff of my life.

Thanks in advance

Can I (F25) ever decenter marriage?

Please hear me out.

I'm a working woman from Rajasthan living with a fertility condition that I believe should never be hidden from any future partner and makes it nearly impossible for any man to accept me. My parents have been incredibly supportive throughout my life. They've always encouraged me to pursue my ambitions and build a career, and never once have they let marriage stand in the way of anything I wanted to achieve.

Yet, I don't know whether it's years of societal conditioning or something deeper, but I find myself sinking into sadness whenever I see people around me getting married. The grand glitzing ceremonies, the colorful outfits, the joy on the bride's face, couples giggling together, women glowing with happiness, it all leaves me with an ache that is difficult to describe.

Most of my classmates started getting married around the age of eighteen. Today, almost every girl I grew up with is married and building a family of her own. Watching their lives move forward while mine has taken a different path has become increasingly painful.

Over time, I've come to accept that marriage may simply not be a part of my life. I've also realized that I don't want to lower my standards. Unfortunately, I've begun to feel that those standards may never be met by any man.

Last night, while visiting my hometown, my family attended a wedding. I couldn't even bring myself to look at the bride and groom on the stage. The sight alone felt like a knife through my heart. I left without eating, walked outside, and spent nearly an hour sitting by our car, crying uncontrollably until my family came out.

I've decided to never attend any wedding now. Every bride I see reminds me of something I know I'll never experience. It makes me feel painfully incomplete, even though I know a person's worth shouldn't be measured by their marital status.

What makes it even harder is how people treat you. Some former colleagues, acquaintances, and even friends seem to look down on me simply because I'm unmarried. It's subtle at times, obvious at others, but it's there. As if every achievement, every professional milestone, somehow counts for less because I don't have the title of "wife".

Sometimes it feels as though no matter how much I achieve professionally or personally, I'll never receive the same social acceptance and respect that is so effortlessly given to a married woman. No matter at what heights I reach, I'll forever be deprived of the highest social respect given only to a married woman.

I've accepted that my life may look different from what I once imagined. I desperately want to stop carrying this constant sense of grief. I want to make peace with the life I have instead of mourning the one I may never have.

If anyone has gone through something similar, or has found a way to navigate these feelings, I'd genuinely appreciate your advice. I don't want this sadness to define the rest of my life.

(used AI to refine my thoughts)

TIA

Got my first Kindle!

At the age of 25, I got my first Kindle and the little girl inside me got satisfied. Out of all the things I like to spend my adult money on, this is one of the best purchase till date as I got this as a gift to myself. There was a post about sale of around 8-10 kindle devices on this subreddit only a few days ago. I connected with the OP, got into touch and finally after seeing the device on video call I ordered it. Got PW 10th gen for 4500. This was my first reddit purchase and I was honestly too scared. Was constantly check the status of my parcel on courier website till I finally received it 3 days later.

I've always been a voracious reader and this was not an impulsive purchase at all. I'm glad I added kindle to my possession. Just 5 days since it arrived and I've already finished 2 books.

I'm just so happy I got this. ❤️

First attempt in 2027 at the age of 25. I'm hoping I'm not an old nut here.

For context,

I'm 25, graduated in 2021 but I was always inclined towards getting an employment before anything else. As an exceptionally good student in my academics, I did had a faint plan somewhere deep in my heart to prepare for it.

I worked with 2 central ministries, PMO think tanks, and a state government all in the field of policy journalism and government PR. As I believe I'm professionally settled and going to start my new job in August at PIB, I think now is the time I should approach UPSC with all my effort and zeal.

I never wanted to touch any other exam apart from CSE and it was always a plan B as I really cannot give my optimal best with an anxiety of being unemployed.

I'm hoping I'm not too late, not too quick either in terms of false optimism... just the correct timing.

People who prepared with jobs, I know it's hectic but my life apart from job and study has no indulgence whatsoever so I think being deeply involved wil be good for me and getting exhausted to bed isn't that bad either? Any tips, advices, suggestions I can have here from people younger than me at age but elder to me with their experience about this exam, please?

TIA

I feel having sex as kind of violent invasion on my body. Is this normal?

Though I've (26F and heterosexual) only been sexually involved 2 times in my 26 years of age with the same person who isn't a part of my life anymore, but those experiences weren't something that I as a woman would want to recall or reminiscence at all. Sometimes I feel fortunate that I'm single that I don't have to have sex now. I mean, I knew it's not like movies but it has to be at least enjoyable as per the biological idea, that's why whole of the world is damn inclined towards it but I don't feel as such.

I feel like I'm doing a task, like my body and my autonomy is being violently invaded, though with my consent but it still feels that way as if something Unnatural is taking place. I want the act to finish asap so that I can curl back in my soft duvet peacefully.

I've never been a victim of sexual abuse or anything like that, never have been forced either. I feel its more or less the same for majority of women. Is this normal?

What's something that Indian market doesn't produce anymore, and you wish for its return badly?

I'll go first, Kindle basic.

When it was there in the market, I was a teenager and had no money to buy it. Now when I do, I realise it's no more there and they've rather got expensive kobo and paper white ones in place of it which I don't want.

Please settle this for me once. Can a female do nam jap of Lord Shiva? If not, which nam jap should I do?

I (25F) am a Capricorn lagna and a heavy moon+Shravan nakshatra woman.

I've been told to avoid Vishnu Sahasranamam as it hastens the karmic exhaustion and hence life turns turbulent which I've honestly no energy to handle right now as my family including me are going through losses such as deaths, surgeries, job suspensions and accidents etc.

I worship lord Shiva since my teenage. I've a tulsi mala and I occasionally chant Ram nam with it. However I wish to undertake a jap sankalp. But I've been told that females shouldn't chant lord Shiva's name.

Can anyone here help me regarding it? Can I rather take up "Om Namo Narayana" ?? or something else?

TIA.

I found 'Mahodiya' village featured in Panchayat

This is season 1, episode 5... where Sachiv ji goes to buy liquor. At that very moment, the actual village 'Mahodiya' from MP is featured, written there on the stone.

What do you think? Is it a mistake that creators forgot to turn it into Phulera or was it deliberate?

Due to blood blockage, my one ovary had to be removed. Is it something I should keep under wraps from marriage prospects?

I am a PCOS patient since Teenage. I was never overweight and always had an attractive slim figure. Never had liquor or smoking, and still don't do anything.

When I was 17, a sharp pain shot up in my left abdomen. I was diagnosed with a cyst and doctor melted it through oral pills. On 20 june last month, I had similar pain but doctor was unable to pinpoint the issue and gave me normal painkillers. Resultantly, the cyst got bigger and I had a severe ovarian torsion due to which I had to undergo immediate surgery and my left ovary was altogether removed.

I'm still recovering and my stiches are fresh. However I'm disgruntled mentally. Just read a post where someone suggested a young unmarried girl going through abortion to must tell about it to her prospective husband later.

I'm severely stressed. Although my another ovary is well functioning and free from cysts, healthy plus okay... am I still supposed to tell the prospective men I'd be meeting in marriage market about my condition? Given that how India functions, it's certain nobody would ever marry me as men want kids. Even I want to have kids.

Yes there're are situational ifs and buts ... but marriage market never goes down that lane. For them, the mere mention of it would be a clear No for me.

And no, please don't say that I'm better off without such men who will be viewing me as an incubation body only. It doesn't work like that. Nobody views their wife as incubation centre but then, they won't proceed with this news as well, though there are facts attached to it.

P. S - MEN, STAY AWAY FROM MY POST AS WELL AS DMs PLEASE. I ALREADY KNOW HOW YOU PEOPLE FUNCTION AND I DON'T NEED ANY ADVICE FROM A BIOLOGICAL CREATURE WHO DOESN'T SHARE SAME ANATOMY AS MINE.

How much more one has to endure before the time changes? does it ever change?

Since February this year....

- I lost my job

- The person I wanted to marry cheated on me

- My father went into a heart surgery

- I suffered a 3 months long unemployment period

- Faced immense physical pain due to internal blood supply blockage

- Had to undergo a surgery and lost an organ because of same.

- Now might not ever get pregnant in this lifetime

Even before that, Never had a stable employment. Never had someone who loves me genuinely. Was bullied in school. Didn't get into my desired course.

And after all this... every astrologer I've ever met or consulted with says one similar thing - That I've a good and powerful chart. That I've a good life. I'm running Rahu Mahadasha currently and I've been told it's placed as the most powerful energy in my chart, and this is what I've got?

I mean seriously? 25 years of endless suffering, what's left to be even termed as "Good"? I'm tired and helpless now, have lost all hope. All that I can do is to just kneel down and cry my heart out.
