How to Clean in this Heat?

I am slightly embarrassed to post here, but I could use some advice, and I have ben trying lately to be more open and honest about my stuggles with cleaning.

I have been attempting to complete clean my room (and kinda start over after 22 years) for the last few weeks, after for years of not cleaning at all due to ADHD driven execution dysfunction and just absolute lack of motivation/mental energy. I was working slow, but doing well, and actually got one half of the room cleaned, which is a lot for me, as you couldn't see the floor at all through the foot high piles, plus installed two new shelving units. However, this last week has hit a standstill due to one main factor: the heat!

There is no air conditioning/fans/anything in my room, due to electrical issues (don't ask). Because of this, when I am trying to clean now, the temperature is in the mid 90's Fahrenheit. With my sensory issues, this is a bit of a nightmare. The heat both leaves me feeling lethargic, and fills me with a rage I don't like to admit. I have been unable to force myself to go clean because I just dread the discomfort.

So I am here to ask, what do you do to push yourself to clean through the heat? Because waiting until fall is really not an option want to consider. I just want this done. I still have the second half of the room, and the adjoining closet (unarguably the worst part of the room) and bathroom left to go.

Anyone Else Still Creating Their Refs?

I am brand new to the world of Artfight, and am embarassed to admit that I only just registered yesterday. And let's just say, I will not be uploading my characters in time!

I still have to add my werewolf human form to the card, but I don't even know what he looks like (I cannot visualize my characters due to aphantasia)! And I only have one ref sheet finished and one started.

Please tell me other artists are in the same boat!

Kids Book with Two Stories about Kid Detectives?

I know this is a long shot, as I have asked about this same book on here before, but I am going to give it one last try before I give up, as I was quite fond of this book as a small child and would like to remember what it was.

I believe the book was published between the 90's and 2009 (I would have read it sometime between 2008-2011). It probably wasn't a super well known book, just one of those random kids books you see in the grocery store. It was a soft cover, square, black with a picture on the front and the title below, but I can't remember what the picture was of. It wasn't super thick, probably around 50-60 pages.

Inside, there were two stories with full color illustrations, both about this group of what I want to call kid detectives, but they may not have been, they may have just been super smart or something. I know it was both boys and girls, and I want to say it was 4 kids. Their group was led by this older guy that I want to say had grey hair, and their headquarters was in the back of a grocery store. Part of me wants to say that either one of the boys worked for the store, or the older guy did, but that might be a false memory.

I can't remember the plot of the one story in the book, but in the other, pets all across their town start going missing, and the kids try to figure out why. I can remember one illustration showed the girl (I can't remember what she looked like) looking at a feather in her magnifying glass, bc this old lady's bird was stolen. The one boy's (I want to say he was Black) dog was stolen too, but the boy was a tech wiz, so he had made a collar for his dog with tracking. So the kids follow the signal and find all of these animals in like a warehouse or shipping container or something like that. And I can't really remember anything else.

I don't know if this will sound even remotely familiar to anyone, but I am grateful to anyone who has even the faintest idea!

Can You Use Puzzles?

Good afternoon, all! I am in the midst of serious declutter/reorganization scenario, and have a bit of an odd question.

Are there any crafts/crafters that can use puzzles? Specifically puzzles that don't have the box, and are potentially missing pieces? I was considering putting them up for trade in r/craftexchange , because they can't be donated, but I don't want to just throw them away. But I don't know if that is something crafter can/would even use.

[CHAT] Small Vent

Please excuse me, but I just need to vent for a moment, becaue my family just wouldn't appreciate it if I did so out loud.

I finally picked up this project after abandoning it for a year due to a hectic schedule. I sit down and have fun stitching away... until I look at the picture and realize. One section is stitched with the totally wrong color!!

Apparently two different colors have the exact same symbol, just printed in a different shade of ink. I was stitching with grey when I should have been stitching with green. Now I need to rip a decent size section out and do it over. And the worst part is, this was a thrifted kit. It's not like I can just go get another skein. I don't even know if I will have enough thread to finish now.

Gahhhhhh!

Sorry, I am done now. Just needed to get that out.

[CHAT] How Do You Label Your Bobbins?

The title kind of says it all. How do you label your plastic bobbins? I have only ever used cardboard/laminated paper before now. I see that there are DMC stickers, but what I have read says they don't stick well.

Good afternoon, all!

If I am being honest, I am still very new to the world of plushie making, as I have only sewn a few, and those were all made with fleece. So if these questions sound very basic or foolish, please have patience with me!

I bought a pattern yesterday to make 36 inch plushies of some wolf characters I designed a long time ago for a story I have been working on. However, I am having some difficulties settling on fabrics, for a few different reasons. And I was hoping maybe the folks in this group could take pity on me and help me out some!

The pattern recommends using long pile fur in places, for a more realistic look. So my first question is, for someone who has never worked with fur fabric before, is long pile fur harder to work with than short? Should I just stick with beaver, or even shorter, go with only minky?

My second question is where is the most reasonably priced place to purchase decent quality faux fur (and is this dependent on what fabric I buy)? I was recommended Big Z Fabrics, and they do seem to be reasonably priced, $50 total for the fabric I had in my cart (mixed lengths and piles), but their shipping left me quite startled at $26. Is this standard?

And also, any advice on sewing with faux fur in general?
